The dangers of clicking on licks supplied on web sites.
Little do most web users realize the various ways they open themselves up when they click on a link. Some articles posted here, you may notice, contain links. Ostensibly, they appear to be to personal web sites, but many can be traps.
Using various web technologies such as php, perl, javascript, embedded coding and mac addresses (as in machine address not macintosh) quite a bit of personal information about yourself, your computer and your system can be transmitted.
Got that resume sitting on your hard drive? It may now be in the hands of someone you wouldn't wnat to have the information. The newest generation of hackers exploit people's voyeristic tendencies, and draw them into personal sites of people depected as pollitical "boogiemen" so they can gain access to the vast information accessible via the holes Microsoft intentionally left in Internet Explorer as well as the various Windows versions.
one victim, we'll call him Ted, fell for this ploy. He visited a web site, curious about the claims b=made against the owner. Within a few days "Ted" found personal information about himself being displayed across the internet as he became the next "boogieman" accused of being a "leftwing" or "rightwing" extremist/terrorist/agitator/activist. In the end "Ted" had to change ISP's and email addresses, pay for an unlisted phone number, and still didn't feel safe.
Some of these "hackers" are simply trouble makers who've found an interesting game in painitng random people as some kind of nefarious extremist. Due to the dynamics of the internet, it becoems easy to create villains out of ordinary citizens.
Some of the "hackers" aer actually activists, who wish to garner supprt for their cause by creating enemies. In one case, an activist who began by gathering personal info on a public figure, continued to do so on randomly selected private citizens, trampling lives as he bemoaned the numerous "enemies" he'd uncovered.
Please use caution when clicking on links left on message baords and open news sources.

This article was published by one of the hackers it claims to be warning you about. Some of the information is correct and some of it is intentionally disinformation.
The source of the article is KOBE. Their intent is to wrap a smear against various KOBE targets in the disguise of good advice.
How do I know this? It's very simple. First of all, the author explains exactly how the information used to harass a target is obtained. It is stated as fact. However, if the author were a victim or the author were informed by a victim, the author would not know the actual means used to obtain the information. Instead, the author would merely speculate about how information was obtained on targets.
Now, consider this as well. Have you seen such campaigns directed against right wingers? No, you have not. The article claims that right wingers are targeted too. This is an attempt to introduce ambiguity that is easily discarded by the fact that no such examples actually exist.
Finally, there is only one activist, as far as I am aware, that has targeted a public figure in the capacity of gathering information about him. That target was John Poindexter and the reason for targeting him was to demonstrate to John Poindexter exactly what it was like to have his life examined by strangers, as he proposes to do to all Americans with his TIA system. The website alluded to is this one:
http://www.breakyourchains.org/jpao.htm
The author leaves out the reason for targeting John Poindexter. This is significant. He wishes paint the activist negatively. The activist, however, had a good reason for targeting Poindexter. That reason was to bring attention to the Information Awareness Office and what it was doing to Americans. That mission succeeded by provoking many articles in the main stream press about the Information Awareness Office.
KOBE attacked this activist at the time by claiming that he was merely spying on Poindexter, leaving the context out, exactly as the lead article in the thread leaves out the context.
For many months before the project targeting Poindexter, KOBE was already involved in targeting and harassing this activist. KOBE SBM emerged in September. The Poindexter website went up in November. Thus, the chronology of the lead article has intentionally been distorted.
The owner of the Poindexter Website, Devoy, has successfully identified the main players in KOBE. This has pissed KOBE off and provoked KOBE to further attack Devoy. This latest post is merely another attempt to smear KOBE's target covertly.
So, who is KOBE? That has already been determined. KOBE is:
Ned Lee Lyle of Computers NLA.
Clara Lyle of Computers NLA.
Dave Young of Computers NLA.
Thomas Lasswell of Computers NLA.
There are a few other KOBE members, but they are less significant.
On whose behalf is KOBE working? By KOBE's own admissions, in the form of forum posts, KOBE is working for the JDL. KOBE denies this strongly simply because it is true. Whenever false accusations against KOBE have been made, KOBE has played along with them, hoping to lead investigators in the wrong direction. The only case where KOBE has vigrously denied accusations is the case of KOBE linkage to the JDL. This linkage has been established not only through earlier KOBE claims, but through IP address tracking of related KOBE activities.
Now, KOBE will propose that I am Devoy. This proposal will be made because KOBE SBM, leader of KOBE, is paranoid and delusional. What he fails to understand is that there exists a conspriacy much larger than KOBE involved in fighting KOBE.
It is important for activists to learn to identify disinformation. The primary key to identifying disinformation directed against the resistance is to determine whether a publication has the effect of smearing members of the resistance, whether those targeted individuals are anarchists, communists, socialists, greens, or some other kind of progressive. Any post that targets fellow activists should immediately be suspected of being part of a disinformation campaign, even if the post is wrapped in what appears to be good advice.
This message was posted by a member of the Anarchist Defense League. The Anarchist Defense League is, indeed, associated with Devoy. We are a new organization in our founding stages. Our goal is to protect anarchists from the kind of defamation that groups like KOBE and the JDL libelously post online. For more information on the Anarchist Defense League, visit this link:

The regulars at Indymedia don't really give a shit any more. I am glad no one showed up at the protest you organised but couldn't make the effort to attend personally.
Do you not realise that you are being laughed at?... you have lost all credibility.
Three interlinked websites already! why? same stuff sort of, but images spread across all of them?... why waste money?
or are you trying to make the "WE" look like more than one?
To be honest I think the regulars here are sick of you, Kobe and your helper Nightrider the spammer.
Find another medium to carry on your personal crusade, I want to read independant news here, not read you and your followers crap.
Thank you.

We've got one or two KOBES posting here under multiple names. It's unbelievable just how stupid they think the activists of LA are.
KOBE SBM demonstrates once again that he is paranoid. Devoy didn't post those messages, I did. Yet, you immediately think Devoy is behind it. You are PARANOID.

ALL of the spam posts are comming from an individual who shall remain nameless but is an associate of devoy.
The defensive of devoy posts are actually comming from Mr devoy himself.
Linguistic analysis shows that real posts from Kobe SBM go on for pages and pages!!! not the imped one liners.

I always refer to a person in question as "he" because I'm a male chauvanist with no education beyond high school.
