Audit reveals that Pentagon cannot account for $1 trillion.
As reported in the Sunday, May 18 San Francisco Chronicle, an audit by the DOD Inspector General has revealed that the Pentagon cannot account for about $1 trillion in spending. They have also lost track of 56 airplanes, 32 tanks, and 36 Javellin missiles. While this should produce banner headlines on every newspaper in the country, a Lexis-Nexis search reveals no articles in any other newspapers two days after the Chronicle article.
$1 trillion comes out to about $3500 per man, woman, and child in America. People need to contact media and get them to report on this. They should also contact their congressional representatives and ask them to push for answers as to how this is possible.
