As reported in the Sunday, May 18 San Francisco Chronicle, an audit by the DOD Inspector General has revealed that the Pentagon cannot account for about trillion in spending. They have also lost track of 56 airplanes, 32 tanks, and 36 Javellin missiles. While this should produce banner headlines on every newspaper in the country, a Lexis-Nexis search reveals no articles in any other newspapers two days after the Chronicle article.
