The May Day march and rally sounded familiar themes in LA's globalized economy: the backbone of the productive economy face more than the physical risks and exhaustion of their jobs. Increasingly jeopardized by repressive police and INS tactics, LA's labor force needs legal remedy and demands respect and justice.
Thousands marched in distinct labor, faith, antiwar, pro-raza, and other groups up broadway and past city hall. A small stage complete with a band and a few speakers then addressed the crowd as the sun went down.
