1,000-2,000 TONS DU Spread Over Iraq's Cities From Leuren Moret 4-30-3
Here is the estimate of the tons of DU the US used in Iraq: 1000-2000 tons - more than three times the amount used in the first Gulf War...only this time it was primarily spread in Iraq's cities, not on the battlefield. The uranium and its radioactive decay products will remain toxic for over 4 billion years...and will slowly destroy the genetic future of the Iraqi people. But the death and destruction will not be contained within the borders of Iraq. Winds will spread it throughout the Middle East and beyond. The US has carried out its omnicidal plan now on Afghanistan and Iraq...what country is next? Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Kuwait, the Gulf States, and Iran will breathe the invisible war too... and they will share the fate of the Iraqi people, the caretakers of the cradle of civilization. Uranium Cancer Check For Returning UK Troops By Paul Brown The Guardian Weekly Soldiers returning from the Gulf will be offered tests on the levels of depleted uranium in their bodies to check if they are in danger of kidney damage and lung cancer as a result of exposure, the Ministry of Defence said this week. The ministry was responding to a warning from the Royal Society, Britain's top scientific body, that soldiers and civilians might be exposed to toxic levels. It challenged assurances from the Defence Secretary, Geoff Hoon, that depleted uranium was not a risk. A ministry spokeswoman said that if soldiers followed instructions correctly and wore respirators in areas where depleted uranium might have been used they would not suffer dangerous exposure, but all would be offered urine tests. The overall results would be published. The ministry said it would also publish details of where and how much depleted uranium was used. Brian Spratt, chairman of the society's working group on depleted uranium, said: "It is highly unsatisfactory to deploy a large amount of a material that is weakly radioactive and chemically toxic without knowing how much soldiers and civilians have been exposed to it . . . It is vital that this monitoring takes place within a matter of months." Experts have calculated that between 1,000 and 2,000 tonnes of depleted uranium were used by the coalition in the Iraq campaign. The Guardian Weekly 20-3-0501, page 4

Notice the disinfo line here - a variation of guilt by association. Mention a relatively reputable Press outlet and then taint it by associating it with the "National Enquirer". That's almost as bad as associating it with the "National Review".
As always the truth is the enemy of the Shills and so they attempt to get people not to look by assciating it with something unpalatable. Recognize the tactic for what it is: DISINFORMATION.

I understand that you're all playing at pundits and rhetorticians but this is unproductive. Aren't there better ways that all of you could use your time? For instance, try reading a few more books, not just the magazines and websites that corroborate your already fixed opinions. Diogenes, you really must learn technique. If you post something like "1,000 to 2,000 tons of DU" you'll just get a big yawn from all your compatriots.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is "Never get involved in a land war in Asia." Another is of course "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line." But only slightly less well known is this: "Never ask a Leftist to do both math and decipher abbreviations in the same sentance".
Furthermore, you left out any sensational Fascist or Global Conspiracy connection. And you didn't make it personal enough. You can't get an emotional response from a primarily American audience if you say the United States did something. But if the pResident did it - well now you're cooking with gas!
A better title, from me to you:
"2,240,000 to 4,480,000 pounds of really really bad stuff was INTENTIONALLY dropped on, on, nothing but OLD WOMEN and honest hard working ORPHANS by George W. For some stupid reason you've got a problem with comprehending that individuals can review the same evidence as you and reach completely different conclusions. That's extremely immature on your part. Until you are able to grasp this simple concept, your ability to engage in meaningful discussion will always be wanting.
For example, you said:
>The data corroborating DU's Toxicity has been posted on this board over and over again. The Shills are now reduced to nothing better than trying to Spam up the Thread. They have no defense. They have no case. They have no honor.
A mature response would have been as follows:
>The data corroborating DU's Toxicity has been posted on this board over and over again. I believe it to be true. Read it and make you own evaluation.
See how much more mature of a response that is. No name-calling. No condescending remarks. Just a simple acknowledgement that you believe it to be true, that you encourage others to examine what led you to your conclusion, and an unstated acknowledgement that it is quite common for others to reach a different conclusion.
Try doing so. You'll find it makes a big difference.

I see no reason to coddle our dear sweet shills.
I am always willing to enetertain other viewpoints.
However, the aforementioned Shills have continuously and repeatedly, ignored, defamed, and just generally been complete assholes on the subject. This is admittedly a broad generalization as not every person who frequents this board is a Shill, but I and others, such as Sheepdog, have put forth a fair amount of time and effort to lay forth the facts. Only to receive in return taunts, and character assassination.
Conclusion: They have an official SPIN they are being PAID to sell.
I do not admire Quislings nor do I feel compelled under some false sense of decorum to treat them in any fashion other than that which they have, by their actions, earned.
And so I would make a suggestion to you, but decorum prohibits.

I've repeatedly read your "evidence" and that of Sheepdog's and the vast majority of the time have found them not to be reliable. I write that I don't find them to be reliable, and here's why, and then go on to point out that it's either the source or the information is based upon a false premise or built on a false foundation or whatever it might be. You definately have a problem with people doing that.
It's a firm conclusion that when the truth is presented, that no amount of bullets will shoot it down. It remains the truth. When I see you and others of your political leaning posting statements, and then constantly having to defend what you have stated, naturally one would conclude that the foundation of your belief and your statement wasn't very strong to begin with. If you were to make a strong enough case to begin with, then you wouldn't need to defend what you said. The initial argument would have been such that it would have answered every accusation against it before any were even made. The point being is if you have to defend it, something must be wrong with the logic behind it. You might want to write you arguments in such a way that you answer every possible accusation against what you have written it before it can even be made. It would make it more convincing. Until you are able to acquire the ability to to do such, your only recourse will be to try and shout down those with whom you disagree, and you're not very good at it. In a battle of wits, you're completely unarmed.

"Truth" is not abstract. "Truth" is tangible.
Any event that happens can be explained. The accurate depiction of what happened is "THE truth". There is not "your" accurate description and "my" accurate description. What happened is what happened. If we both report the same accurate description, then it can be stated with assurance that it happened in just such a way. If we report different accurate descriptions, then either one of us is right and one of us is wrong, or we're both wrong. There are no other choices. Regardless, what actually happened remains "THE truth". "THE truth" is black and white. "THE truth" can never be 10,000 shades of gray.
