First of all, there is no such thing as an 'illegitimate' child. Don't give me definitions either, because I don't care. Every child is legitimate, and saying otherwise implies that the child is wrong or has done something wrong.

Second of all, questions of marriage don't even figure into the original topic: an anti-war demonstration. Some of the posters here obviously have their own fish to fry, and should take those issues elsewhere.

I am so disappointed by the comments following the article. Such a beautiful manifestation of our freedom of speech right and here we have racist folk who have nothing better to do than write in and make prejudgements on those who supported the event. How do people get off busting out with "illegitimate child," what the hell? Seems like family values always come after fear, illegitimate politics and illegitimate wars. Oh and please excuse me if I have a few grammatical errors or my sentences don´t sound right because that might make me a drop-out, thats so immature and pathetic. Realize theres many social and economic influences pushing these drop-out rates.
Reading the attacks following the article is really discouraging but at the same time makes me wonder what kind of a person it takes to read about hope and respond with hatred. Get over your insecurities, take control of your mind, question the norms and lies you´ve been fed, society is forever changing, get with it. Drop-outs? Wetbacks? when will you realize this country has been founded on our and probably your blood and sweat, stop the nativist bullshit because if we went through with that, none of us were here first, it was those who were at peace with the earth and themselves. Why disrupt Mater Dei High, which is a great hope for our people? Why not head over to Santa Ana Valley, which is busy miseducating the next generation of cholos, gardeners, and Del Taco employees? Yeah there are lots of reasons for the dropout rate, mainly because their families and friends on the street think it's okay to drop out, that only a chump stays in school.
