How Americans are feeling about thiis war

by das Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 3:58 PM

Here's what the man in the street is thinking.

It's interesting to read the spin doctoring that goes on in the liberal media worldwide.

Here are some impressions as to where the average American stands on the war at this time:

1 - There is no interest whatsoever in any sort of negotiated peace or peace process that might leave the Baath Party in power. Unconditional surrender is the only option.

2 - As the Iraqis execute prisoners, employ suicide bombers, use their own civilian women and children as shields, etc. they anger the American public. This increases public confidence in GW Bush and his administration.

3 - Countries like France, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc. are generally viewed as a part of the problem rather than a part of the solution.

4 - Tony Blair's stock has risen markedly. He's being viewed as someone who is leading Britain back to the first rank among nations, while France and Germany flounder.

5 - The UN, already suspected to be an expensive do-nothing organizaton, is starting to look a lot like the League of Nations. The question on everyone's mind regarding the UN is, "Do we need it?"

6 - The war is going very well. Our troops have advanced over great distance in minimal time. Iraq's military is suffering defeat after defeat. The only unknown is when will Saddam's regime fall.

7 - We clearly elected the right guy when we elected GW Bush. He and his team have made the tough decisions and are being proven right. That was abundantly clear in Afghanistan, and is becoming even clearer in Iraq.

8 - We're really tiring of the so-called Anti-War Protesters. Whenever they hold a protest march, or pop up on TV they raise hackles, and not sympathies. They're being viewed as enemy sympathizers rather than peace advocates. The perception is that their idea of peace amounts to little more than appeasement and would leave Saddam in power, the latter being unthinkable.
