(Move over 9-11 families) Meet the 'Fort Hood Families'!

by Brent Herbert Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 2:42 PM

A 'war blog' ... Make way '9-11 families' for the new rising stars, 'the Fort Hood Families'. As well as this new little propaganda toy of the extreme right wing, we are also being fed huge amounts of perjury and falsehoods during the war, just as we were in the lead up to the war, all intended to convince people that the war is something that its not. However the documents of the Extreme Right illustrate quite clearly that the war in Iraq should actually be renamed 'Operation Iraqi Oil'.

On the CNN site there is currently a banner headline, the top story of the day, which reads 'A Chilling Discovery'. Blood stained uniforms thought to belong to missing American soldiers were found at a hospital in Nasiriya. The Pentagon, that reliable source of war information, has also released the frightening story of the car battery (A.K.A - the torture device). Now that missing American P.O.W.s might have turned up at a hospital seems like a good thing, especially if they were all bloody and injured, as those bloody uniforms would indicate. As for the battery, other sources of information indicate that it is of the type that is typically used in hospitals to run such things as the emergency lights, but you know, when you find that Americans were taken to the hospital, and then you find a battery, naturally this leaves the Pentagon to draw the only obvious conclusion, and that is that hospitals in Nasiriya are actually being used as torture chambers. There must be a million ways to torture people in hospitals. For example, you could jab them with needles. The discovery of these needles would qualify, I think, as a 'Chilling Discovery'.

Meanwhile, a little further down the page CNN reports that 'Anxiety Heightened for Fort Hood Families'. You know with the reports coming out of the Pentagon about that car battery and the torture chambers being run in Iraqi hospitals for wounded Americans, you can understand how the 'Fort Hood Families' would be chewing their nails and popping nerve pills, and tomorrow is another day, and another one of those Brit or Pentagon press releases, so one can expect the 'Fort Hood Families' to be filling prescriptions for quite a while yet.

In other news, the BBC is so sick and tired of the endless perjury and lying being spread by the Pentagon and the Brit military and Tony Blair (in particular) that they have instituted a policy that from now on their reporters can no longer file stories that quote unnamed 'official sources' in the military. Every quote must now be attributed to a named individual. Apparently the BBC is worried that given all the lies they regurgitated faithfully for the last week or so, only to be humiliated later, will damage their reputation as a news gathering organization, and leave the public with the idea that they are simply some Joe Goebbels outlet for regime propaganda.

Among the stories that were false was Tony Blair's lie about 'the execution of P.O.W.s' which he spread around with the manufactured indignation and outrage during his meeting at Camp David with Bush. This pseudo-outrage is something in which he specializes, and gives his lies that extra boost that they need if they are to be believed by nail chewing 'Fort Hood families'.

Immediately after Tony Blair left the set of his latest acting gig at Camp David, he was confronted by the families of the P.O.W.s who were told by the military that their sons and brothers and fathers had died in combat action. They had not been executed, but had died instantly. Blair's version of ‘Ari Fleischer' responded with ‘who can really be sure.' In other words Blair had no evidence or proof of his outraged charge. And what he was saying directly contradicted what the military was saying, and therefore Blair would attempt to pull of another one his bald faced lies and justify it by saying that sure, there was no evidence, but it might have been true. While we are it, using this type of reasoning, why not suggest that the P.O.W.s had, yes, tragically, committed suicide having gone crazy on the battle field. Sure, there is no evidence to support the assertion, but it might have been true. Hell, just about anything might be true, and in Tony Blair's strange universe, that's all the open crack in the door he needs to start spreading more of his perjury. That faked nuclear dossier ‘might have been true.' The intelligence experts dismissed it as an ‘obvious fraud' but it might have been true. That's enough for Tony.

Manufacturing some of his classic faked outrage for the occasion, Blair said that the execution of P.O.W.s was "further evidence of the depravity of Saddam's regime ... More than that, to the families of the soldiers involved, it is an act of cruelty beyond comprehension. Indeed, it is beyond the comprehension of anyone with an ounce of humanity in their souls." Nina Alsop, the sister of one of the dead P.O.W.s was paid a visit by the military who told her that he brother had been ambushed in a land rover and had died instantly in a moment of combat. She was outraged by Blair's cynical use of her brothers death to spread more war propaganda. "It makes a big difference to us knowing that he died quickly. We can't understand why people are lying about what happened." This tacky lie just goes into the pile with the rest of the egregious false hoods and lies that have spread to justify the Iraq war. Nothing new here, and the Tony Blair Brits are even bigger liars than the Hawkish Americans.

Breaking News!!!! Blair reveals new Osalami Bin Laden Tape! The tape shows Osalami gloating over the sufferings of the Fort Hood Families. My local newspaper got bought out by the Jerusalem Post company (ah, yes, that wonderful ‘newspaper', that I so enjoy reading...who couldn't enjoy reading the anti-Muslim, pro-Zionist screeds of the Jerusalem Post). The entire front page of my local paper was filled with the gloating face of Osalami Bin Laden, even though it was obvious that this fat actor was not bin Laden. Since then I have the same high regard for my local newspaper as I hold for that wonderful Jerusalem Post. And my trust has been rewarded amply in recent weeks as in banner headlines my local paper screams out every lie and perjured fraud being fed to the media by the Pentagon and by Tony Blair Brits.

Among the false stories reported were that a chemical weapons factory was discovered in An Najaf. A ‘popular uprising' was taking place in Basra. According to Tony Blair, that master of misdirection, the only reason all of Iraq was not welcoming the Brits back (after spending decades getting rid of the British colonial masters some decades past) is that they were being ‘terrorized by Saddam.' The expected dancing in the streets had not materialized but instead stiff resistance was being displayed. (It's called colonialism. Blair must have forgotten the fate of the British colonialists of the past, and thus expected roses in his gun barrels). Civilian casualties in Baghdad were certainly the work of Saddam. So were the casualties in Basra and other places as well. Saints like Tony Blair and Bush are never responsible for such things. This in spite of the fact that they are using bunker busters and subjecting urban areas to the heaviest bombardments of the war, and in spite of the fact that they have accidentally bombed Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iran, and a Pentagon official stated that about ‘10 percent' of the smart bombs routinely go dumb. No, it was Saddam. This was dutifully reported by my local paper. The way this propaganda works is that you lie and twist the truth, and then just drop the issue and move on (the damage already having been done).

And the BBC was reporting these falsehoods as news as well. But apparently they are unwilling to continue doing so. According to the Guardian newspaper in Britain, the BBC has stated that, "We're getting more truth out of Baghdad than the Pentagon at the moment. We're absolutely sick and tired of putting things out and finding they're not true. The misinformation in this war is far and away worse than any conflict I've covered, including the first Gulf war and Kosovo." And one can expect more of the indignant outrage to pour from the lips of that talented actor, Tony Blair, you know what with Saddam bombing civilians, and Saddam using force and threats to prevent ordinary Iraqis rejoicing at the thought of the dawn of a new age of British imperialism and colonialism. Outrageous. Only Blair could ever manufacture the required moral indignation that such evil deeds should have as their righteous response.

The only character I have seen who does manufactured outrage better than Tony Blair (who is a master of the form) is the 'Prince of Darkness', Richard Perle. I was watching him several weeks ago on MSNBC when he conjured up some indignant pseudo-outrage as he stated that America was not interested in Iraq oil. No, certainly not. It was an outrage to even suggest such a thing.

Yes, the Bush administration is the Mother Theresa of Iraq, and oil doesn't enter into it. Like Blair, Perle knows better than to simply make a statement, but rather one should conjure up indignant outrage while making a statement, which is a good propaganda technique. Perle is good, but Blair is a master of the form. Unfortunately, Perle can only lie to the misinformed and the under informed, since if you are familiar with the statements of the Project for a New American Century regarding Iraq, and Iraqi oil interests (valued using the word 'trillion' by the way) well then you would know that of course the Bush Regime is not Mother Theresa, and, yes, they do think lots about oil, think about it all the time in fact, and that, yes, of course oil is involved in their calculations concerning Iraq.

In the administration document, "Strategic Energy Policy Challenges For The 21st Century" which was written before 9-11, and arrived on Dick Cheney's desk in April 2001, it states that America is facing an energy crisis of massive scale. The document identifies Saddam as a threat to the United States due to the fact that he controls Iraq's oil fields and recommends an invasion of Iraq as a strategy to be employed in dealing with the American energy supply crisis. The document reads, "Iraq remains a destabilizing influence to ... the flow of oil to international markets from the Middle East. Saddam Hussein has also demonstrated a willingness to threaten to use the oil weapon and to use his own export program to manipulate oil markets," and then goes on to state that "the American people continue to demand plentiful and cheap energy without sacrifice or inconvenience" and therefore this requires military intervention in Iraq.

Similarly in the summer before 9-11 the Bush administration already had their Afghan war coalition together (see the article below on this page), and plans were in place to occupy the oil rich Caucasus states to the North of Afghanistan (with the promise being that once American troops were in place they would be safe forever from the Soviets). Bush told the Taliban that they had their choice between a 'carpet of bombs' and a 'carpet of gold', depending how cooperative they decided to be when it came to America's foreordained plans to control and occupy the whole oil producing region. Eventually the administration concluded that the Taliban would make ineffective stooges for America, and so the invasion was on, and in June it was already planned to invade Afghanistan during October of 2001. Even though this information was readily available, the uninformed American public were fed a diet of bullshit and lies, and although the hijackers were apparently Saudis, Afghanistan was supposedly pounded in punishment for 9-11.

This was one of the most cynically manipulative examples of robbing the graveyard for foreign oil policy I have ever seen, and a sign of just how cynical the propaganda of these oil hawks really is, and they haven't improved with age, as this Iraq war and its lying propaganda illustrates. Iraq, and the area around Afghanistan (as well as Iran, which also borders the region) have the largest untapped supplies of fossil fuels in the world, and now, after the war in Kosovo put the United States on the North East border of the Caucasus, and the Afghan war put the United States right smack in the Middle of the Caucasus, the War against Iraq is now putting the United States into the strategic southwest corner of this last great untapped supply of oil. (All that remains to complete American occupation of the area is the invasion of Iran, the last remaining competitor in the battle for Caspian/Caucasus oil interests...However Saddam makes an easier target for deceptive American and British propaganda, and so Saddam goes down first.)

During the Balkans war, the region bordering these strategic oil areas in the North West, the story was put out that once again the country was 'fighting the Nazis' who, were are told, 'were running concentration camps' and doing other atrocious things. The famous 'victims behind the barbed wire of the death camp' photograph which was the spark that ignited the NATO bombing campaign, was a forgery. The barbed wire actually protect a tool shed. The camp was actually a refugee center, and the reporter went into this guarded area around the tool shed and took the famous picture looking outward, toward the refugee camp, through this barbed wire to give the impression of another Auschwitz, choosing as his subject a particularly skinny and less well fed refugee to complete the comparison with the Jews in Auschwitz.

Similar fraud and blatant perjury is being spread around to 'prepare the American people for further casualties' (according to a headline on CNN today). As I mentioned, Perle, like Blair, both of them 'the Princes of Darkness' (if you ask me) can only use manufactured outrage to peddle lies to the uninformed (which would include probably the vast majority of 'pro-war' Americans - we will allow that there would be a few Americans who would pro-war, perhaps even more so, if they understood clearly that this was indeed an oil war, and that all the fraudulent evidence and the never ending lying and perjury and phony outrage being peddled is just the required brain fogging, head muddling propaganda being spewed out to build 'popular support' for this 'war against terrorism' and to 'disarm Saddam'. The biggest propaganda crap of all is that this is 'Operation Iraqi Freedom' (and note the boiling outrage of 'average (uninformed) Americans' with anyone who would protest against such a noble cause).

Bush also lies a lot, but without that 'moral conviction' that someone as talented as Tony Blair brings to the task. Not once has he ever told the truth about the real intent of this war. Every single time he has lied ('weapons of mass destruction', 'the future threat posed by Iraq', 'freedom for the suffering people of Iraq'). His biggest lie I have heard lately is that the allies rushed right straight to the oil fields and occupied them during the first couple of days of the war, because 'these oil fields belong to the Iraqi people'. Yes, Bush says, its their oil, it belongs to them, and will be developed for the benefit of all the Iraqi people. Now try to imagine Bush stating that the oil (what's left of it) in America 'belonged to the American people' and was to be 'developed for the benefit of all the American people'. You mean it wasn't the property of a small clique of extremely rich people, and that the profits were the property of all Americans, and not just this small clique of oil barons? (George Bush, socialist, imagine that. Amazing.)

Yes, the Bush regime truly is the Mother Theresa of Iraqi oil. No wonder those 'pro-war' people get so damned outraged when someone clashes with such a noble collection of saints with such pure, untainted motives. As the hawks themselves have clearly stated in their documents, this is actually 'Operation Steal Iraq's Oil', because you know how Americans love to drive SUVs, and furthermore, they just won't tolerate going to get gas and finding themselves inconvenienced.

And that is why America is in for the greatest amount of terrorism in the future you can imagine. Sure, Americans don't want to be inconvenienced at the gas pumps, but I suppose they must be willing to be inconvenienced by some more of that terrorism. All throughout history imperialism and that form of rape known as colonialism (steal their stuff, and then sell it yourself) has met with the same time of hit and run guerilla and terror tactics. And the American hawks expect to be greeted as 'liberators'?

Well they will be greeted as 'liberators' of the oil, and once that place is sucked dry, (and terrorized Americans have gone through hell again and again to pay for it) the people who live there can rot and die and starve and sink into the deepest poverty, just like they do in Africa, today, as we speak (have you heard of the continent spanning famine? So far Mother Theresa has contributed to the appeals in the range of less than one per cent of the United Nations appeal in the worst case country, to about 6 per cent in the best case country, with an average donation of 2 per cent of the total appeal for most of these famine stricken countries.) There is the shocking truth. Mother Theresa is basically leaving Africa to starve to death. Imagine that. And, yes they can also starve and die in the Caucasus, the Balkans, and the Caspian sea region, which includes Iraq, once the oil is gone, the great interest of Mother Theresa having shifted to some other part of the world, you know where they have whatever it is that Mother Theresa might feel the need to steal at that particular point in history.

O f course she won't come right out with and just tell everyone what she is doing, but instead she will have to manufacture bullshit propaganda and a steady stream of lies, and given that she is a saint, with such noble and pure motives, all the pro-war Americans will just boil with outrage at the opposition she encounters while working out her noble plans. And the cynical manipulation and cynical abuse of the public trust will continue in an ever repeating cycle...

After the cynical abuse of the trust of the 9-11 families during the invasion of Afghanistan, it is not surprising to see something new rising on the horizon. Good-bye 9-11 families, and now make way for the new rising stars of the American extreme right wing - the ‘Fort Hood Families'. The 9-11 families are passe, for the simple reason that they are now more a liability than an asset, with the way they are pursuing that 9-11 investigation, when it is obvious that Bush regime is less than enthusiastic about investigating that messy affair. Yes, the 9-11 families have had their fifteen days of fame, and they were manipulated and abused and were a great help in getting American troops into the Caucasus and the Caspian. The 9-11 families were a God send and proved to be enormously helpful in getting American troops into Afghanistan and the vitally important Caucasus.

Now move over 9-11 families and make way for that other great propaganda asset, those rising stars, the ‘Fort Hood Families'. The ‘Fort Hood Families' will now be abused and terrorized and used up to help out with the invasion of Iraq. The Pentagon will terrorize them tales about car batteries, leaving them ‘anxious'. They will hit the talk shows, and gain the sympathy of Americans everywhere, while Pentagon hawks promise them the justice they deserve. Make way for the ‘Fort Hood Families' and with a little luck, they can even manage to take the focus away from those other washed up families, the ‘9-11 families' who are just a liability these days, and no longer an asset.

Yes, perhaps those 9-11 families can be split into factions, you know some of them coming into line, not pressuring the Bush administration, you know, out of respect for the sufferings of those ‘Fort Hood Families'. Or, if they want to remain troublesome, well then the ‘Fort Hood Families' can be used to black ball the ‘9-11 families', you know, for being unpatriotic and even treasonous. Interesting little propaganda play being shaped up here. Watch for further developments as the Bush regime tries to play off their new found toys, the ‘Fort Hood Families' against those washed up has beens, the ‘9-11 families'.

For now, it is onto Iraq, and then inevitably Iran, to complete the capture of this great prize by the United States. No doubt the misinformed pro-war American public will just be outraged at the resistance and fanatical attacks stirred up by this blatant example of American imperialist aggression. You just can never fathom how ungrateful some people could be, especially after you spent 80 and then hundreds of billions of dollars on ‘Operation Iraqi/Iranian/Syrian Freedom'. You would think they would appreciate Mother Theresa, but instead they are giving America the same terrorist treatment they gave the Brits and the French when they were the imperialist colonialists of the world. Imagine that. But no doubt all this furious violence is coming to Americans because ‘they hate our freedoms'. Yes, that must be it. The fact that you are making the biggest resource grab since the technical end of colonialism in the 1960s might have something to do with it, as well, but when you listen to ‘pro-war Americans' fume with anger at the opposition to their generous offer to spend hundreds of billions on the suffering of those under tyranny, you can tell that they really don't seem to think that's the case.

That eighty billion dollars being spent on ‘Iraqi freedom' is not just a charitable donation by the Washington Mother Theresa, however. She don't give to charity. She cuts welfare and food stamps and health care and now she is after social security, and she starves continents. No, she doesn't give anyone a dime, unless they are real rich, in which case she gives them a trillion (go figure, but that's the way she operates - that Washington Mother Theresa is real generous to the right people). That 80 billion she's spending to grab the Iraq oil fields is not a charitable donation to a good cause, any more than the 40 billion she spent on Afghanistan was charity. Its called an investment, and given that in Iraq alone the oil is valued using the word ‘trillion' and there are trillions more in the Caspian and Caucasus regions which she now occupies, well one can see how that could turn out to be one of her more profitable investments, and a hell of lot better than sinking her cash into some sink hole like that under performing Wall Street Stock Market, where she would never be able to earn such massive returns...

By the way, just a few words about the debate going on about 'tactics' (you know should San Fransisco be 'shut down' or should people protest nicely, and so on...Let us not forget to educate the misinformed American public, shall we, since this misinformation is the most powerful tool in the warmakers arsenal, and of much more interest to me personally than just exactly how to protest on the streets (visible oppositiion is important, to let people know you are there, but the real work is it not in protesting , or in deciding how to protest, but the hard slogging behind the scenes, that is involved in, as the White Rose Put iit, 'finding each other again, and spreading information from person to person...' just my contribution to the debate...

Interesting Afghan war stories

"The twin towers attacks provided Bush's Washington with both a trigger and a remarkable coincidence. Pakistan's former foreign minister Niaz Naik has revealed that he was told by senior American officials in mid-July that military action against Afghanistan would go ahead by the middle of October. The US secretary of state, Colin Powell, was then travelling in central Asia, already gathering support for an anti-Afghanistan war 'coalition'. For Washington, the real problem with the Taliban was not human rights; these were irrelevant. The Taliban regime simply did not have total control of Afghanistan: a fact that deterred investors from financing oil and gas pipelines from the Caspian Sea, whose strategic position in relation to Russia and China and whose largely untapped fossil fuels are of crucial interest to the Americans. In 1998, Dick Cheney told oil industry executives: 'I cannot think of a time when we have had a region emerge as suddenly to become as strategically significant as the Caspian.'" John Pilger 'The truth they never told us'

The following article from the end of June 2001, reports on the agreement of both India and Iran to be 'on board' for the attack on Afghanistan as the American government was already busy in the region building an anti-Afghanistan war coalition. Note that last year, at the end of May 2002, the ink is dry on the Afghan pipeline deal...Note that Iran is not in on the deal, having become a terrorist state since then...

India in anti-Taliban military plan India and Iran will "facilitate" the planned US-Russia hostilities against the Taliban.
By Our Correspondent

26 June 2001: India and Iran will "facilitate" US and Russian plans for "limited military action" against the Taliban if the contemplated tough new economic sanctions don't bend Afghanistan's fundamentalist regime ...

Indian officials say that India and Iran will only play the role of "facilitator" while the US and Russia will combat the Taliban from the front with the help of two Central Asian countries, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, to push Taliban lines back to the 1998 position 50 km away from Mazar-e-Sharief city in northern Afghanistan. (Note that this is exactly what happened.) ...

Diplomats say that the anti-Taliban move followed a meeting between US Secretary of State Collin Powel and Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov and later between Powell and Indian foreign minister Jaswant Singh in Washington. Russia, Iran and India have also held a series of discussions and more diplomatic activity is expected ...

Officials say that the Northern Alliance requires a "clean up" operation to reduce Taliban's war-fighting machinery to launch an attack against the Taliban advance to the Tajik-Afghan border. This "clean up" action is being planned by the US and Russia since the Taliban shows no "sign of reconciliation". (Note: once again everything went exactly as planned last summer)...

Such Central Asian countries as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are threatened by the Taliban that is aiming to control their vast oil, gas and other resources by bringing Islamic fundamentalists into power. Now all the CIS nations are seeking assistance of Russia's Federal Border Guard Service to overcome the Taliban threat ... India, Iran and Russia, for example, are working on a broad plan to supply oil and gas to south Asia and southeast Asian nations through India but instability in Afghanistan is posing a great threat to this effort ... India's official position is for a "peaceful and lasting solution" to the Afghan problem. But it strongly advocates strict economic sanctions against Taliban and is also not averse to a "limited military action" to weaken it. India plans to raise the Afghanistan issue in the forthcoming G-8 summit in Geneva in mid-July.

Al Jazeera offices bombed in Baghdad

by bh Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 6:43 PM

The 'human shields in Baghdad' have reported that the Americans have bombed the Baghdad offices of Al Jazeera, just as they did in Afghanistan.

http://www.awitness.org/news/december_2001/aghan_thumbs.html

'M' is Melbourne community radio interviewer, and R is Rosemarie Gillespie, an Australia Human shield....

http://melbourne.indymedia.org/front.php3?article_id=45089&group=webcast

M There's an alternative TV - nowadays - Al Jazeera.but

R Yes, an alternative to the Bullshit media. That's why they bombed it..

M in Afghanistan

R in Baghdad. Yesterday. Saw the TV building, whole inside blown out.

M Is the TV dead ?

R No. Continues, but no color, only black and white. They (Americans) of course have every intention of stopping all alternative media.. get out only their versions..

A question I asked previously

Is Al Jazeera in a van a legitimate target (I mean al jazeera couldn't possibly be gullible enough to rent office space in Baghdad for this war, could they?)
