I read on the Internet on several sites about this "big" pro-war rally at the Federal Building yesterday afternoon. I also received unsolicited email about this big event.

The best they could do was 60 people!?!?!?!

I read that supposedly 70% of the American public supports Bush and his Iraq War. In the City of LA alone, I believe the population is somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-million people. Even if 50% of this number is chidren, the elderly or infirm, this leads me to question just how accurate the polls really are.

I go to school on the East Coast and go to protests in Boston, New York City, and Washington DC and I rarely, if ever, see protests in Los Angeles on the major media networks. When I came home this week, I came across this "rally" and saw how sad it was. I parked my car and rallied with the antiwar protests for about a half hour and many MANY more people gave us the thumbs up and peace signs than honked for the prowar supporters.

Good for us, Los Angeles... let's show the rest of the country that we are not fake, uncaring Californians! We care about our men and women abroad and the fate of Iraqi men, women, and children.

I love how it how the polls show that the majority of people support the war. Now, if you listen to the left they paint a different picture by citing how many people show up to their protests. One reason there are not many pro-war demostraters is because there isn't really much to chant and cheer about in war. Support the troops can only go so far and, come on, people aren't going to go out there cheering "We want war, we want war!" Oh by the way, did I mention the majority of Americans support the war. Argument over, stopr protesting and go home and save the planet (another thing, about the picture of the dead Iraqi baby, did the person also show pictures of people tortured or gassed by Saddam-- didn't think so, end of story)

Then consider what we've been saying from day one. This war is (largely) for oil. What did they secure first thing, right away? Oil wells? What are they guarding now? The museums, the hospitals, the police stations? No. The oil wells? You bet.

So please, give your stance a little further consideration please. Ask yourself how you think your God would resolve these matters. Would cluster bombs be involved?

The protests for and against the war were expected when the initial plan for the war with Iraq surfaced. Unfortunately we have gone to war. Thankfully it appears as though it is coming to an end. So is there a need to hate one another within our own country. There are biggots (particularly the man who commented "thats beautiful" about the dead Iraqi child). We as a nation have to learn that fighting within our own country creates only more problems. Stop fighting about somethign that is already done. Put your efforts into voicing your own opinion about how things shuold change in Iraq. The eyes of the world are watchging us and our advances to a "liberated" Iraq. Do you honestly believe that this is a modern day imperialistic attempt to control Iraq? And even so, a controlled government is better than a government in which a tyrant can kill masses of his own people. Hopefully this will prevent bloodshed in the future for the poor people of Iraq. Lets pray to whatever god you believe in that this will be completely over and the outcome is better.
