Tie a Black Ribbon!

by Otto Sunday, Mar. 30, 2003 at 10:14 PM

Tie a Black Ribbon in OPPOSITION to Bush but in SUPPORT of our troops and in THANKS to those who have truly died for our freedoms.

Tie a Black Ribbon in contrast to the US group-think mentality. Tie a Black Ribbon in OPPOSITION to the Bush Misadministration's act of unbridled aggression. Tie a Black Ribbon in SUPPORT of our troops and in THANKS to those who have truly died for our freedoms

Show your neighborhood that you support peaceful resolutions to international conflicts. Express your disapproval of Bush and his war machine! Tie a black ribbon on your favorite tree, your car antenna, your bike, and anywhere else that people can see it.

Most of all, PASS this message throughtout the world so Black Ribbons will begin popping up Internationally!

Peace!

Sounds like a cheery idea... but I'll never fly my black in support of any serviceman other than Asan Akbar.

Ummmm, maybe you could read some books and articles? Those who died were fighting for control of resources and land by governments and the monied interests they serve.

Freedom isn't protected by soldiers, but rather by knowing what freedom is and being willing to name it - and fight for it - over and over again. Support the troops to get an education to understand for whom they fight. Support the troops to live in a society that doesn't subscript them economically into the military.

Black ribbon my white ass...

Hey... Give Otto some credit for an original idea... It beats the hell out of re-posting bogus stories to Indy Media about Dick Cheney's daughter becoming a human shield!

You're a fan of Hitler, the holocaust and racist/fascist oppression? America's support of our European allies in the fight against Germany was a worthy battle in my mind. Dropping the bomb on Japan was a major blunder, granted, but do you really think the USA and Europe would have the freedoms we have today if Hitler were to succeed??? Get real.

That is a good idea...thining outside of the box and coming up with visible original ideas to oppose the war is a good idea. IT ISI WHAT IS NEEDED!!!!

Black Ribbon idea has merit, best place to tie them would be around the necks of all that protest the president and the war. It would show those around you how strongly they feel about the issue. When I'm in the store, campus or just around town I could see who is of that persuasion.

"Oh tie a black ribbon round the old oak tree

It's been three long years, do you still want me?.......

If I don't see a ribbon round the old oak tree,

I'll get on the bus, forget about us,

Put the blame on me,.......

Now the whole damn bus is cheering,

And I can't believe I see,

A hundred black ribbons round the old, the old oak tree"

'Fraid not. Never would have been a hit. Need yellow to make it work.
