Supporting the troops

by Derby Sunday, Mar. 30, 2003 at 1:14 PM

I heard a report that American Soldiers that are forced to fight a war they don't want to, are refusing to fight and would rather be court marshalled.

I heard a report that American Soldiers that are forced to fight a war they don't want to, are refusing to fight and would rather be court marshalled.

Can anyone confirm this report? (please leave a link of a reliable source- reliable is relative to your personal judgement and I will make my own judgement from there).

Personally...this makes sense. This makes sense for one reason...the majority of soldiers do not want go to war. I do thank god that they are trainded to react while they are in war (even if they should be brought home) and that they have enough wits about them to survive and enough honor to risk thier lives to prpotect thier friends in the field. THAT IS HONORABLE. Most soldiers that go to war do not fight and think to themselves, "I am fighting for my country" or "I want to kill the bad guy"-this might happen but it is often an after affect of seeing death and being forced into war- but rather "I am fighting for my life and the lives of my friends." The career soldiers (that want to be in the military) may think differently...but that is a minority.

The three injured soldiers paraded on CNN the other night prove that soldiers do not want to be there. I respect these three people, even if one of them wants to go back to help protect his frineds and "2nd family". It is brave to go back and protect his friends, after being shot, and bravery is honorable in all forms. Notice that these 3 people never resonded to the question "Do you want to go back?" with "Yes, I want to go back to protect my country." Even the marine who wanted to go back was not going for the country but rather his friends.

This proves:

CNN is not ALL PROPOGANDA and it is still capable of reporting some fair news (agreed there needs to be changes and some of it is propoganda).

The troops are honorable.

and

They don't see the war as protecting the country but rather protecting thier frineds.

My dad was a career soldier (he never went to war-thank god), but he did not want to be one. His personal ECONOMIC situation called for it though. He hated being part of the military, not for any moral reason, but becuase he hated the lifestyle and I will guarantee he is not the only one.

*laughs at himself for the typos* I just reread what I wrote...sorry about all the typos.

Oh and one more question to ask...if some Iraqi troops do not want to fight in the name of Sadaam...what makes us think that there aren't soldiers that do not want to fight in the name of America?

by T Light Sunday, Mar. 30, 2003 at 3:20 PM

To WANT to go to war, you would have to be a Barbarian. No matter how just you think a war is the normal person does not WANT to go to war. These soliers are like normal people they WANT to protect their family, friends and their country.
