Congress supports the troops?

by systemfailure Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 1:18 AM

Support our troops in war, but not when they come back......

What the hell is going on here in America?

On the same day that Congress approved a resolution to say "Thanks to all the US troops serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom"--

They also passed a resolution to slash 28 Billion dollars going to Veterans Healthcare, Benefits Disabilities, GI Bill and Housing over the next few years

.

What a way to say "Thanks", and "Support Our Troops".

Rep Tim Ryan (ohio) says, "It's a no wonder why people in America don't vote when they see the duplicity in this chamber here today".

Rep Susan Davis (cal) says, (speaking for the veterans rights) "When the fighting is done and you return home, do not expect us to care for your needs"

This is a sad day for Americans Veterans and democracy.

At the V.A. in los angeles it is a 6 month wait to see a doctor.

Also, the Montgomery GI bill is gone

Veterans home loans is gone.

5000 beds for disabled veterans gone.

I dont understand the hippocracy

These veterans cuts were made to give tax cuts to the wealthy.

The powers-that-be are also afraid of paying for "Gulf War Syndrome" 2. Did I read somewhere that 1 in 3 solders from Gulf War 1 are sick from having been there? This is one of the reasons (besides the general Republican gutting of our government, the "drowning it in a bathtub") for cutting vets benefits. Esp if Hussein does uncork chemical & bio weaponry.

What sort of country are these soldiers going to come home to? The betrayal they will feel against the US government is going to just add more fuel to the rage already here.

It is a sad day when the "President" pushes and then signs a bill to cut veteran's benefits, when they are the ones who have fought for our country and are now fighting for our country. Not only is he cutting the veteran's benefits, but he is asking for money to fund a war which is taking the lives of our American soldiers and for what. Furthermore, it is hard to believe our congressmen and women are backing such idiotic tax cuts. Why don't they cut the rich for a change.

Looking at this site it in my contention you spend from 8 to 14 hours per day spewing out your anti-american salavating garbage. Over and over day in and day out.

Seriously, Diogenes, don't you think you should get a life. I think you ate pshycotic as would be anyone who spends their entire life on this web site. For your own sanity you need to take a break. Just take a week off and go on vacation. Shut off you're TV, take some bimbo for a drink and get laid. Really amn you need it bad.

I am not accountable to either of you.

I work on my computer and pop in and out as it pleases me. Rarely more than a few minutes at a time. Unless of course I am in a feisty mood in which case I will hang around exposing the lies propagated by such filth as yourselves.

As for your so-called "Support the Troops" Horse Shit Skinner - I support them - bring them home out of this evil ANTI-AMERICAN war of conquest which has as it's sole aim the gratification of a cabal of greedy and evil men.

The Government is not the country. The people and the Constitution which you and your Brown Shirt buddies are busy shitting all over is what this country is about.

I do not pledge slavish loyalty to your Fuhrer. My Loyalty is expressed in defending the principles of Liberty upon which this country was founded. And those principles do not include slavish sycophantic loyalty to a regime which will turn right around and betray the brave young men who joined to stand in defense of this country. They did not join to die fighting for the God Damned Chickenhawk Graven Images you worship.

No if there is anyone engaged in Anti-American activities it is low grade morons like you clowns whose actions are expressed as hatred of your fellow man, betrayal of the priniciples upon which this country was founded, and ultimately the betrayal of the men and women you allegedly support.

The Bush Junta has expressed it's support by cutting the benefits which we have historically granted to Veterans for their devotion to this Country. So, even while they are fighting and dying they betray them. You creeps are a real piece of work.

" To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." --Theodore Roosevelt

"Each man must for himself alone decide what is right and what is wrong, which course is patriotic and which isn’t. You cannot shirk this and be a man. To decide against your conviction is to be an unqualified and inexcusable traitor, both to yourself and to your country, let men label you as they may." - Mark Twain

What you are supporting is the Bush Junta and it's glorious War. You care no more for the Troops that you do a stray dog. They are just a handy device for you to grab onto to try and beat the Anti-War Patriots with.

How many of you have objected to the Bush Junta cutting the Veteran's budget by 15 BILLION dollars? Not a fucking one.

What you are is a chorus of braying Asses who would use our loyal Patriot Soldiers to wage a War of Conquest to line your filthy pockets. When you are done with them you will throw them on the trash pile like your kind did with my brothers who fought in Korea, Vietnam, and in Gulf Massacre I.

You are a bunch of filthy hypocrites. You are without honor or loyalty to the Men and Women who do the heavy lifting - and dying.

I'd say a march on capitol hill would be appropriate at a moment in time. Then there are the the senior vets who get a double whammy because the Social Security will run out. & lets not forget the baby boomers & gen X'ers who will not collect retirement either.

America could use a little liberating itself. Vets should get benefits that are rightfully theirs as should all retired people.

by Diogenes Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 4:25 PM

...of the efficacy of Government Programs of any kind. I spent enough time in Uniform dealing with the Military Supply system to know the kind of boondoggles government is capable of.

Having said that I still believe that we, as a nation, are under an obligation, a debt of honor to use an old-fashioned term not current in the present administration, to take care of those who put everything on the line to stand guard for this nation.

The argument that they have been ordered to take part in an illegal and immoral War is in this realm a side issue. The men and women who joined the service generally did so for the right reasons - to stand guard for freedom. Their double betrayal by the Congress, and Bush Junta stand as testimony to the character of the people who say we "need this war"

They are liars and ingrates. The Freeper crowd are brain-dead sycophants who think whatever their cynically jingoist leaders tell them to think.

Once again the Veterans are betrayed by men in suits without the courage to serve themselves.

After all, it is driven by a gush of taxpayer

I can't help but wonder if some of these whiners that are worried about veterans benefits, are the same back-sliders that I was stationed with. The government can only so much, veterans have to get on with their lives, not sit around waiting the government to come in and spoon feed them. When it's perceived that the government not doing enough for one group they whine and when the government does more then they are accused of meddling.

And of course we have the obligatory mind numbed attack on someone else's Patriotism because they don't Goose Step in synchronicity with the Spin of the Bush Junta. They were correctly targeted in the Junta's Focus Groups. They can and will regurgitate whatever they are told to.

The ingratitude toward those who have given the highest devotion they can - putting their lives on the line mean nothing to them. You must believe the "Slogan of The Day".

Notice that the only Freeper comment on taking care our Veterans is to disparage the men who were wounded, poisoned, and spat upon. The Freepers are no more Patriots than they are for Representative Government or Defense of the Constitution. Least of all do they support Freedom.

Pathetic.
