Pictures from the Hollywood demonstration on March 22nd, in which we marched from Hollywood and Vine to CNN.
afscmepeacedelegation.jpg, image/jpeg, 1632x1224
These pictures cover the end of the march and the rally at CNN. The stage was pretty much impossible to see for all but a few in the front, so these are all of the crowd, which was the main thing anyway.
This first image is of the delegation from the AFSCME union.

If Fox is guarding the hen house, then I guess it makes sense for CNN to be covering a protest against CNN.

This picture expresses the specific focus of the protest. CNN knew it would make billions in ad revenue of a war occurred and so did everything in its power to encourage it. They are mentally ill.

And from this protester's face and clothing one could easily imagine that she might know someone who has been directly affected by this war.

Sometimes you can just look at people and get an immediate sense of how their commitment to struggle grows out of the affection they feel for their friends and family, combined with their refusal to draw a line between the people they know and others much like them in some faraway land.

israelequalsgenocide.jpg, image/jpeg, 1632x1224
Personally, I think it would be more correct to say that the policies of Israel's government are genocidal - not that Israel per se equals genocide. More care in expressing opposition to Israel's policies could help to avoid misunderstandings and allow us to concentrate on our real disagreements. Unfortunately, people who are being slaughtered and who are having their homes ploughed under are not always able to make such fine distinctions. Under the circumstances, those who might otherwise be offended by such imprecise expressions have a responsibility to go that extra mile to reach out for understanding and to address the real and awful injustice that underlies this anger rather than quibbling over how the opposition is expressed.
