Tonight was an incredible night. I don't normally feel compelled to do this, but I have recorded the story as fully as I could from when I arrived on the scene at around 6:30pm. This is part one of the story. All Images Copyright 2003 Heidi Werntz.

When I arrived, protestors were doing die-ins in the street, and momentarily took over a few lanes of traffic, only to be threatened with force by an LAPD officer if they didn't move back. He never struck anyone...how nice of him.

Once the protestors were back on the corner, the officers wouldn't let them off of it to cross the street. As you can see, they weren't thrilled.

While stuck on one corner, protestors had a speak-out against the war.

Then it was decided that marching was going to be the next action...so they took to the streets...THEIR STREETS!

After taking over Sepulveda, then Santa Monica, the police finally cornered protestors at the intersection of Butler and Santa Monica. They completely surrounded the protestors, not allowing anyone to leave the corner.

Many, many, many more cops showed up, as onlookers and supporters gathered on the other three corners of the intersection to watch and to show their support.

What a perfect response! You have revealed yourself and sullied the cause you pretend to support.

An illegal war is an illegal war. Maybe that's why the Iraqis are actually fighting this time even when they know they can't win.
The pattern is generally for war vets to disown their loyalty to illegal conflicts after they've gotten out of the military and have to live with their injurioes (physical and/or psychological). Why is it so hard to imagine the soldiers growing a brain a little sooner?

You want our military men to die slow agnoizing deaths? I thought you were about peace. If you hate the United States so much, Please move to another country, because many people would love to take your place as an American citzen. You are the definition of hypocricy, you ignorant bastard. you stay here in the United States and critize the country when at the same time you engage in the freedoms which this country fought so hard for. So if your so ashamed to be American, GET THE FUCK OUT!
