So who funds this "Indymedia.org," this large activist organization?
I assume it takes a lot of money to run the web servers, staff the myriad of offices of "Indymedia," and of course deploy the professional protesters.
Is it rich pseudo working man learject liberal manhattines like Michael Moore?
Just curious,
Ben

The what IMCs operate and are funded is public knowledge and accessible on the network. Look it up.

I can't find who funds this either. But at least you let anybody post. How long differing viewpoints are kept on the site... well, we'll see.

i have been watching this organization since d2kla, and i must say it is probably one of the most tech. savvy news orgs in the world. well organized, very smart dv cameras, text messgs, ubiquity, digi-cameras, tech forward members, and although extremely opinionated and mostly to the left and beyond, they do offer a great service for a free country like ours. keep up the good work la.indymedia.org, dig deeper ANFAL, look it up if you already have not...200k dead, makes bin laden look like a rookie...down with saddam...up with freedom!

David Horowitz knows who funds these idiots. And I'll let you in on the secret.
Indymedia is funded by the Fifth Column Left.

You Horowitz worshipers are really funny.
Each IMC has it's own gig going. For instance, look here:
http://makeashorterlink.com/?Z5A931AE3
That will take you to the Guidestar.com report for one of the IMCs. (huge link, so I used that intermediary)
I think many of the IMCs get donation in the form of bandwidth given to them from other organizations, or discounted. But I'm not sure how many fall into that category. And many of the sites are on the save server.
But there's no big conspiracy here folks.

How do you pay for all this stuff?
Indymedia funds all of its activities through donations from people like you. If you would like to support Indymedia financially you may do so through the web page you will find by clicking the "support indymedia" link at the top of the www.indymedia.org web page. Indymedia supports its entire technical structure on an incredibly minimal budget -- only a couple thousand US dollars so far, as opposed to the tens or hundreds of millions of dollars that power the corporate media. Loudeye.com donates substantial server space, especially for hosting multimedia files.

So, how does http://www.loudeye.com/
,a capitalist company, fit in with the "all corporate media is bad" mantra?
Toto, we are not in Kansas anymore.

So?
Since Bush eats wheat, we shouldn't eat wheat?
Loudeye is just a bandwidth provider.

Loudeye just sells bandwidth. They don't control or influence indymedia. What part of that is not sinking in? I'll leave the dumb wheat analogies aside.

"Deliver music, video or radio content over the Internet — with Loudeye's Digital Media Solutions."
Uhuh, and at what point will corporate decisions dictate the bandwidth allocation?
And the "dumb" wheat analogy was yours, not mine.
You're the ones chanting the "we're not corporate" - "Corporate media is baaaad" mantra.
And here we find out that a critical part of your infrastructure exists only because of "CORPORATE" sponsorship.
What's wrong with this picture?

Chill out. Take a breath or two. That was self-deprecating humor re. *my* dumb wheat analogy.
The bottom-line: If IMCs get donated resources from corporations, that's not a problem is there is absolutely no reciprocating advertisements or any such crap. This isn't like PBS and their silly "we don't do advertising" -- while taking sponsorships. The day you see a commercial promotion of any kind from any bandwidth provider on any IMC, you might have something to talk about. Until then, you're making a mountain out of a hill of beans. Whoops.... better stay away from those food analogies ;-)

Let's see:
IMC pays Loudeye.com (a capitalist company) for baandwidth.
Loudeye makes a profit. The company grows.
The Bush administration uses this powerful media provider to disseminate his messages of death and destruction for imperialistic gains.
Millions die in the "Blood for oil" war.
Conclusion: IMC kills people.

That's where the dumb wheat analogy comes in.
Bottom-line: It's impossible to have 100% isolation and purity. Any activist knows this, never mind you trolls that are out just to post to fuck with people. Few activists, for example, prohibit themselves from riding in a car at all times, and they eat food, which is most often shipped via fossil fuel burring means. There's no way to be 100% isolated. The thing people do is attempt to use the system as much as possible to change the system in a positive way. Now, if you don't agree with how some people might define "positive," that's fine. Get off your ass and debate people. But don't debate people on these silly canard and construed points.
Loudeye isn't the same thing as ABC, NBC, CNN et. al. Your argument is ridiculous.

You liberals are such hypocrites.
You're argument is like saying "It's okay to buy drugs, because they help me be more creative."
Nevermind all the innocent people killed by the druglords, dealers, peddlers, and pushers during the transit of the narcotics to your possession.

http://www.bigeye.com/dictator.htm Thanks madmaxim, you'd almost thing you had grown a soul. Trying reading it next time instead of listening to your programming directives and immediately tuning it out as soon as you realize it doesn't agree with the party line. I love how you guys have taken to trying to be the first ones to toss out the ol 'nazi' and 'whitepower' phrases. Like the anti-war people are nazi's in any concievable sense of the word. Please. And i'm just not even going to respond to your accusation that the anti-war movement is somehow KKK related. Thats just too absurd. Your tactics are amusing though, as far as 'funny' things go these days. Kinda sad and tragic but what isn't... You guys have basically already won your fight, you're having this war, its killing a lot of people, we will get the oil and you guys can yuck it up all the way to the bank. Why must you rub it in? Because you're a bunch of sadistic assholes? If your premise had any merit whatsoever you have irrevocably disqualified it with your incessant cry for blood. Just shut up already. They're bleeding in the streets. Our nation has officially pissed on the world, dishonoring us all for decades to come and you assholes still will not shut the hell up.

Hello? Anyone home?
Sheesh............ I guess you're trying to slip in a bogus argument under the radar. If you read the thread from the very top, the bandwidth provider is LoudEye, not big-eye.......
And as MadMaxim, I've tired of your simplistic logic. The bottom-line is that there's no such thing as absolute purist positions and purist activism. To use an example from the environmentalist movement, few activists bar themselves from riding in cars but they still go about their business, attempting to limit their personal footprint on the environment while working for new technologies and systems. You are making a mountain out of pile of horseshit logic. Spam all you like.
goodbye.
