A Soldier's Letter to NION

by Stanley J. Wolczyk III Friday, Mar. 21, 2003 at 2:17 PM

March 20, 2003

March 18, 2000.

Members of International A.N.S.W.E.R.;

Signatories of Not In My Name; and

Citizens of the United States of America:

With the impending military action in Iraq I felt compelled to write this letter. As a member of the United States military I regret to inform you that, regardless of your race, sex, color, creed, age, national origin, political ideology, or any other delimiter, the actions that will take place against Iraq will be fully, undeniably, and irrevocably IN YOUR NAME. Despite of your signature on a piece of paper, this statement remains true.

In my fifteen years of service in the U.S. Navy (8.5 years active duty, balance reserve) I have raised my right hand six time to swear "that I will support and defend the constitution of the United States". That wonderful document which covers us, protects us, enables our way of life. The constitution provides our rights, sets our standards of law, and importantly in this context gives the President of the United States the power to set the foreign policy.

The constitution also provides the method of electing the President, and designates him as Commander in Chief of the military. I have also sworn "that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States", I do not have to like the president, I do not have to agree with his policy. I have served under four men holding that office, and made no distinction between them. When the President sets the military in action he does so by the power given him by the constitution and the people of the U.S. As a service member the President through the constitution ultimately directs my actions, the resulting action is therefore proscribed by the constitution. If you consider yourself a citizen of this country willfully covered by the Constitution, all military action is therefore In Your Name.

I know you might disagree with that statement, you may not like that statement, but the members of the armed forces will proudly serve in the name of all Americans. We will continue to provide you with security, with your freedoms, and your rights even if you do not like how, when or why we do.

Respectfully,

Stanley J. Wolczyk III

Petty Officer First Class U.S.N.R.

hey kids!

by 308 Friday, Mar. 21, 2003 at 3:07 PM

hey kids!! - - keep on laughing. laugh 'til you cry. but don't count on the adults of the world to sober up before you do.

your light hearted comedy should be the most harmless thing in the world, but unfortunately, we adults are drunk on anger, driving towards a cliff, and have lost our forward vision.

so... the situation is unfair, but your light hearts are now dangerous due to the shameful fact that we adults are probably even less serious than you kids, and someone has to get serious if you hadn't noticed.

and from what i can see, us adults are less likely to get it together than you.

They hijack our planes
They raise our oil prices

BEIRUT, LEBANON-Won't exist once we're done
LIBYA, IRAN-We'll flush the bastards down the can
SYRIANS and SHIITES-Crush their faces with our might
Then USA Britain and ISRAEL can live in peace without evil people!

thats gotta be flamebait

by Pissed Off in Ohio Monday, Mar. 24, 2003 at 10:57 PM

Some punk kid trying to get whoever's info they posted there flamed. Tempting though it may be, i'd avoid it. Who the hell would really put a phone number on that crap.

All these people with their "Rember 9/11" rahrah crap...

just makes me imagine a giant unclesam screaming at the populace with a puppet in one hand and a big ass gun in the other, screaming "REMEMBER 9-11" from the puppet while killing people with the gun.

Its so disgusting. How did this happen to our nation.

I think the electoral college was a big step to the decline of american culture. Maybe we should consider repealing that legislature and returning to a partyless system where the second place winner gets vice president, and not 'elect a president and get everyone they care to bring with them at the same time absolutely free!' .

Maybe we should just outlaw republicans forever.

seems like the whole worlds going insane

by systemfailure Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2003 at 4:30 AM

First of all to the nazi navy squid that wrote the article.
You are not defending the constitution.
You have an obligation to disobey any and all orders that conflict with
violations of either the constitution or on a lesser note the geneva convention.
When he is up in front of a war crimes tribunal he will say.
"Gee, how was I to know, I was just following orders."
This squid dosent know shit.

secondly to the guys who dont like the protesters exercising thier 1st amendment rights.
We are allowed as americans bonded by a social contract to express our civil rights as listed in the
bill of rights of the constitution whenever necessary.
Those that oppress the constitution are traitors and enemies of freedom.

Thirdly to the "freedom" post
you are an idiot because there were no iraqis on the 911 airplane nor any connections to terrorists
produced to warrant an indictment of Iraq as a nation.
Plus, We at indymedia are not stupid enough to fall for some bullshit highschool prank
where some dumbfuck leaves his enemies phone # and address.
Eat shit and die you fuckin pogue.

Mrs

by Gina Reynolds Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 5:22 PM

Any of you in L.A. and elsewhere who think that Saddam has not wanted us dead since before 1990; and who think the money for Bin Ladin's WTC attack did not come at least in part from Saddam (a billionare), are idiots!!! The terrorists missed the mark when they went for New York and our financial system. They should have targeted the liberals in Hollywood who pedal their "Art" (smut and VIOLENCE) throughout the world and then cry "Peace" to get some press as soon as the Media is occupied with something other than them for a change. Maybe next time the terrorists can do us all a favor and bomb L.A., the studios or at the very least the precious Hollywood sign!

Yes, we just love the hypocrisy of our conservative demographic. Fascists like Gina think it's alright to kill babies, as long as they aren't Americans. Abortion, bad; child slaughter, good.

by Gina Reynolds Monday, Mar. 31, 2003 at 5:44 PM

Oh.....so the fetus was given plenty of warning to get out of the way of the saline and suction and just chose not to comply? Now who has a double standard? Abortion is convenient but war is murder?

Oh, yes, those slaughtered children were "given plenty of warning to get out of the way" of the bullets. Keep thinking with your head up your ass. That's the way we like it.
