What's more patriotic for Americans: To support or to oppose a war with Iraq?
"What is MORE PATRIOTIC"
Bill Moyer's web site asks the question:
"Should journalist's show patriotism...?"
His is a simple poll that questions if patriotism will impact a journalist's article.
Moyer's realizes the word is "loaded," but the Netscape poll isn't addressing that because the importance rests in what is MORE PATRIOTIC.
Patriotism then becomes a simple issue of pitting one against the another to determine which is best. The result will be isolation and judgement of the "other." It is a dangerous and absurd poll that does little to address the complexity of deliberation.
Nothing wrong opposing the war. I believe if it were not for protesters we would have been in Viet Nam longer than we were. I do not have to agree with protesters all the time, but they do serve a purpose.
