Hi folks,
The weather forecast for LA on the afternoon of Saturday, March 15th promises winds of 20 to 30 MPH and 2 to 3 inches of rain. A little preparation now can help bring you a LOT of comfort on 3/15!
(1) If possible, wear/bring a waterproof poncho/jacket (and waterproof pants/trainers, if you have them!). Keeping your body dry will prevent heat loss and keep you warm.
If you don't have waterproof jaket/pants, bring a few big heavy duty 40 gallon plastic trash bags - you can tear arm/neck holes and help stay dry!
(2) Wear a wool sweater and - if possible - avoid cotton clothing (especially avoid denim pants, if possible). The reason: cotton will soak up water like a wick, and your body will lose heat all day long. Hypothermia is not fun!
(3) Please keep your head warm! In cool, wet weather, we radiate 30% of our body heat into the air through our scalps.
Wear a woolen hat or cap (or buy a cheap one, if you can). If you can't get a wool cap/hat, synthetic fiber (nylon, rayon, polyester) is better than cotton.
(4) Please, please, please wear waterproof shoes/boots (if you have them) and wool socks (if you have them).
If you don't have wool socks, synthetic fibers are better than cotton....
(5) If possible, bring a change of clothes (especially socks/shoes!) wrapped in waterproof plastic bags...
(6) If you have a medical condition, please bring any medications you may need.......
