Media McCarthyism(amsellem)

Media McCarthyism(am...
mediamcarthy_web.jpg, image/jpeg, 390x300

This graphic is inspired by the recent attempts to have activist actor David Clennon fired for expressing his opinions about pResident George Bush. On a WABC radio program, Clennon likened Bush to Hitler and criticized the show he stars in stating, "I'm disappointed that our show(The Agency) has turned into a propaganda for the George Bush White House." As a result, the conservative host of that program, Sean Hannity, teamed up with Fox News, where he also works, to have Clennon fired.

www.vote.com conducts online voting on various controversies of our time and sends the results to the relevent people. They have started the voting process on whether Clennon should be fired for his comments and they will send the 'recomendation' to CBS when voting is completed. At the time of this writing it is 52% yes and 48% no in answer to the question of firing Clennon. The Los Angeles chapter of Refuse and Resist are asking people to vote "NO"and send a message to CBS that people shouldn't be fired for their political opinions. Especially when there is some substance to those opinions. David Clennon lended his support and spoke out at both of the massive Feb 15 and Jan 11 anti war demonstations in Los Angeles. Closing the gap or even changing that vote to a yes may save his job and send a message to the mainstream media that freedom of speech is still alive and well even if public ownership of the airwaves isnt.

Let's send the SOB to Guantanamo

by Garaj Dohr Saturday, Mar. 01, 2003 at 5:37 PM

David Clennon is such a disgrace to himself, his family, his community, and his country that it would be best to send him to Guantanamo. He can then be with the terrorists whom he nurtures and supports. That might be the only way for him to learn the basic lesson: He who supports terrorists, shelters terrorists, or defends terrorists, is himself a terrorist.

In addition to being a terrorist supporter, Clennon is also a major asshole. Hats off to Sean Hannity for getting Clennon into the national spotlight where the worm belongs.

Unbelievable

by fresca Saturday, Mar. 01, 2003 at 6:33 PM

I heard that creep go up against Hannity and James Woods today. And of course he was an ass. Absolutely no critical thought, just the repitition of tired buzzphrases. What I didn't know was that he was the CREEPY bearded guy from thirtysomething. The owner of the ad firm. God that guy is a creep. I saw we staple him to Garafallo and drop em into Bagdad.

true

by fresca Saturday, Mar. 01, 2003 at 7:04 PM

I agree, although I dig the occasional leftist TV show host for the same reason I frequent leftist boards as opposed to conservative ones; it's great fun to watch them hang themselves.

US Citizen

by John Tuesday, Mar. 04, 2003 at 4:59 PM

Your web page is incorrect in stating that Sean Hannity campaigned to have Mr. Clennon fired. It was a point-counterpoint discussion that enraged listeners, but Mr Hannity did NOT say Clennon should be fired. He did however confront Mr. Clennon's integrity by asking him why he did not quit the show if he didn't agree with the message portrayed. Mr. Clennon dodged the question.

will this

by tired Tuesday, Mar. 04, 2003 at 6:12 PM

"I'm delighted that MSNBC finally fired Phil Donahue and replaced him with Michael Savage. Sounds like they're starting to get the message re what the public wants and doesn't want. Donahue was/is such a major asshole."

So, does this finally put to rest all of your comments complaining endlessly about "the liberal media?"

I really hope so.

unfortunate

by bill robertson Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 10:44 AM

David's opion is unfortunate. This voting thing has a ring of blacklisting. We should use the free market that freedom ensures to voice our opion. Don't watch the show. Thats the only way you can send a reasoable and fair message.

Clennon's not the only one

by four legs good two legs bad Monday, Mar. 10, 2003 at 6:00 PM

I think the greatest thing was hearing Harrison Ford was appaled at reports which had him linked with Bush. Are you right wing idiots gonna boycott him too. I suppose you think he's unamerican.
I got news for you clennon was right. All this blind patriotisim is just the way Hitler rose to power. I know pretty soon were gona have the young bush brigade of freedom loveing facists. And like Bush I bet hitler claimed to be a man of God. Bush is a dictator who wasn't even elected and so far has killed more people than Sadam has in just two years as president, not to mentioon the 300 he killed in Texas and the 250,000 hes going to murder in Iraq. What gives him the right to delcair war against the world.
Stop the war Machine!
War is not Peace!

Simple

by Simple Simon Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003 at 3:31 PM

I was drunk off my ass, driving my Ford Abomination at ludicrous speed and yakking on my cell phone, when the damn brakes went out (I guess, I was pretty ripped as I said). Thank God for all those appeasement mongers protesting. If I hadn't hit them first and those endangered animals second, that redwood sapling I snapped would have marred the bumper something fierce. Might have had to get her detailed again.

Were you saying something?

Dr.

by Applepie Thursday, Mar. 13, 2003 at 6:56 PM

Are you people totally insane? Have you even read the US Constitution or is that too much of a stretch for your feeble little minds. Yea - you'de probably get it confused with Mao's little red book.

Here's the scoop - Clennon gets to say what he wants and so do you. Whatever anyone says in regards to this war - oppose or favor - does not make you unAmerican. Trying to shut people up does. Trying to correct your country when you believe it is in the wrong is just as patriotic as supporting an administration when you agree with it. No matter what the subject.

Sling

by Haynes L.Eslinger Jr. Thursday, Apr. 17, 2003 at 11:12 AM
heslinger1@cox.net

Finally a sane person. If you successfully drive through a red light at a busy intersection, should you stand up afterwards and say, "Ha! and you all thought I was stupid?" You are still stupid, and so far lucky. If we waited 12 years, was another couple months gonna kill us? Saddam killed millions, couldn't we find enemies of his to aid in helping overthrow his government? Its not so much the why we did it, as much as the how we did it. We are the mightyest military in the world, and now EVERYONE fears us. This is not a good thing. The United Nations is now a joke (to us), but it was the only game in town. Can we reform it, or do we replace it to suit our liking. Is W leading us into a tunnel full of natural gas carrying a candle? By the time you say, "Oh crap", its gonna be to late. Go Ms.Garafallo!
