warisgood

by war Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at 10:10 PM

People,

I recently received the chain e-mail below.
Though I am fairly certain the individuals propagating
this are well-intentioned, so was an individual named
Nevel Chamberlin, who also believed in "peace in our
time." Nevel looked at Hitler as a man who could be
reasoned with. Nevel never even began to see the true
evil of Hitler's plans. Within a decade of
Chamberlin's policy of appeasement, over 6,000,000
Jews and other "unclean" people had been put to death
by the Nazi regime. Ironically, Chamberlin had no
idea that Hitler would use gas on his victims.
However, this time, we are dealing with a mad man, who
not only rules by terror and tyranny, but he has in
fact used chemical gas on both his enemies (the
Iranians) and his own people (the Kurds).

So, as you yellow-bellied self-sanctified
liberals type away on your computers in reasonable
safety, remember that it wouldn't take much for a
"dirty bomb" or other chemical disbursement delivery
device to be set off in the parking lot of a major
sporting event or other large crowd gathering. If you
think what happened with the twin towers has horrific,
then wait until you hear the horrendous cries of
innocent people suffering from nerve gas exposure.
Wait until you see the results of human skin coming in
contact with blister agents. Wait until terrorists
start blowing themselves up on American soil. Most of
this will probably be captured by our faithful media
in full living (so to speak) color. Maybe, just
maybe, you will understand that there are times when
war is justified.

There is an old saying that “those who do not
study history are doomed to repeat its mistakes.” If
you have never heard, or understood, the story of
Nevel Chamberlin and Adolph Hitler, I urge you to
search the internet and do some investigating. The
situation unfolding today is very similar to what
happened so many years ago. However, this time we are
much more prepared to deal effectively with the
threat.

On a personal note, as a veteran with over 18
years of military service, I can’t say that I am eager
to see people die. Military people always prepare for
war and pray for peace. That said, if I am called, I
will answer. I have taken an oath, a sacred vow to
defend my country against all enemies, both foreign
and domestic. Most of you, who have never had the
honor to serve your country will never fully
understand this concept. Again, I hope that you can
continue to live your lives in relative peace and
security. In the mean time, you can take all your
petty little war protests and shove them where the sun
doesn’t shine! Go join the French for all I care.
They have been stomped twice by evil forces. And
twice we have had to save their buts. I really
wouldn’t mind seeing them get trashed again just to
snap them out of their arrogance. At the very least,
maybe they should tour the graves of the thousands of
Americans who gave their lives to liberate that
country.

If military action is taken, I don’t expect to
see “thousands of Americans coming back in body bags”
as Sadam Hussein has threatened. I expect that you
will see the surgical precision of the previous Gulf
War, with many improvements (as we have had over a
decade to improve our technology). We are not going
after civilians (like Sadam Hussein has), we are going
to neutralize his fighting capability… by whatever
means it takes. Get a clue, get a life! Study
history and learn something. I will leave you with
the words of our last 5-star general, Douglas
MacArthur… "For history teaches with unmistakable
emphasis that appeasement but begets new and bloodier
war. It points to no single instance where the end has
justified that means-where appeasement has led to more
than a sham peace. Like blackmail, it lays the basis
for new and successively greater demands, until, as in
blackmail, violence becomes the only alternative." -
General of the Army, Douglas MacArthur

war is good???

by randy Sunday, Mar. 02, 2003 at 9:37 PM
west bend, wi.

i too am a veteran and served my country as a youth (the best as i knew how)... as an adult, after doing my time and seeking the hard earned answers (because you don't see them in the corporate controlled media) i have weighed many sides, read the constitution, consulted my conscience and decided that war is merely greedy people looking to line their own pockets! they buy, use and own the media as a fear inducing manipulative propaganda machine used to make public opinion then exploit it for their greedy self interests... ie; oil, strategic positioning, war profits...
it was the c.i.a. and george bush senior who overthrew the previous government of iraq (murder) and put this present regime in power (corruption), supplied him with all of his weapons of mass destruction with instructions to use them against iran (the enemy of the u.s. at the time) in the 1980's (crimes against humanity).
if the u.s. government was really all about peace and democracy we would have an elected leader and the world woud have peace!
there are just too many americans who believe the corporate sponsored crooks... waving a flag and rooting for our team (as if it was us the u.s.) against the enemy of the moment (the other team as in sports). real democracy and real patriotism is work! it is our job as global citizens to expose the corruption, change the government and make it a more honest representation FOR the people.
i feel better about serving humanity than g.w. bushes corporations and the wealthy elites!
how many innocent people have to die for war profits? for greed? for opening new territory to corporations? to control oil?
if you just happened to be born over there instead of in the west, what would you do when the bombs start falling? when the dieing starts? when your family members become just the days body count? as in Afghanistan... and so many of the other u.s. sponsored & backed wars around the globe.
peace to you all, if this stirs up anger perhaps do some research both inside and out.
whom would jesus bomb?

Great post, Randy

by Sheepdog Sunday, Mar. 02, 2003 at 11:51 PM

It was hell going in right after RFK was
assassinated( following the Clumsy cover up
by the LAPD ) and thinking all the time
'Just let me survive this and I'll never
let it happen again if I can help it' as
a never ending mantra. Sometimes it worked.
I made it. Now I'm keeping a promise.

I strongly agree with the statement that you protesters are just actors. Russell Crowe played a paranoid schizophrenic in a movie and the media interviewed as to the insight of this mental disorder. Please.... Martin Sheen played in Apocalypse Now so that makes him an expert on war? Please..... You people need to get a life. Try reading history. I've read if you don't pay attention to history you are bound to repeat it. Let's hope we don't have concentration camps in Beverly Hills. I'm afraid some of our experts won't be able to stand the pressure.

by Sheepdog Tuesday, Mar. 04, 2003 at 4:19 PM

Now that is a silly idea.
Shall we call it a leap of paranoia?
A dream of course ( yuppies working in chaingangs)
but still out of reach. No what the beverly hill types better worry about is the result of repression and
wealth/class gulfs producing final inevitable violent
backlash.

Why can't foolish men lay down?

If our freedom is only won through the Armed Forces,
why then is that I have MLK on my wall?

Fighting in war doesn't entitle one to a monopoly on freedom.

But, knowing that a large percentage of enlistment think
"in the box," (linear thinkers), I am continually impressed by
the amount that can tackle an abstract concept like "freedom."

Bravo, hack.

Non-Violence is indeed an effective tactic - but only in countries that are ruled by a government in which a moral conscience prevents use of lethal force against the protestors.

Gandhi would not have been able to make salt in Nazi Germany - or Iraq.

Dumb as dumb can get

by A Girl Tuesday, Mar. 25, 2003 at 4:30 AM

For you folks out there in favor of this war... ignorantly believing that terrorism is the root of all evil..please let not irrationality and your filthy fake feelings of patriotism destory humanity...use your brains and love for life for once.

Terrorism...it is an ideology not something tangible...we can't kill terrorism...by murdering millions of people (and taking their oil while we're at it). To do away with terrorism..we must alleviate people from poverty, oppression, and repression...all and some in part imposed by our very own economic and military policies abroad. Let's take responsibility instead of creating a ficitious evil which we can't defeat. Let's make this world a better place by creating a better place. Let's not talk of war and make war in which humanity cannot win.

Let's not compromise civil liberty. Let's not buy into proganda. Americans haven't you heard and seen what the rest of the world think of us? Wake up..it's not too late.

"... ignorantly believing that terrorism is the root of all evil.."

Hardly. Terrorism is a manifestation of evil.

"...we can't kill terrorism...by murdering millions of people...'

Millions? Count again.

"To do away with terrorism..we must alleviate people from poverty, oppression, and repression...all and some in part imposed by our very own economic and military policies abroad. "

No, to do away with terrorism requires educating people that blowing up innocent people is not a valid form of political expression. The rest of your sentence? The old "we deserved it" song and dance. Would you think we deserved it if someone you knew and loved died in the Towers, the Pentagon, or a Pennsylvania field?

"Let's take responsibility instead of creating a ficitious evil which we can't defeat. Let's make this world a better place by creating a better place. Let's not talk of war and make war in which humanity cannot win."

We are not responsible for creating terrorism. The evil is not fictitious; it walks the earth and wants to kill people for no other reason than their religion or their nationality. The rest of that sentence is nothing more than idealistic well-wishing wich solves absolutely nothing.

"Let's not compromise civil liberty. Let's not buy into proganda. Americans haven't you heard and seen what the rest of the world think of us? Wake up..it's not too late."

And why should we care what the world thinks of us? Since when is popularity more important than doing the right thing? I'd rather be right than popular.

Go march in your little protest, and kid yourself you're actually making a difference.
