AWESOME PICTURES OF PEACE RALLY IN HOLLYWOOD SAT. FEB. 15
bestbest0.gif, image/gif, 648x159
I stood on the sidewalk for about one hour to see the beginning and the end of the march. That’s how huge this rally was. I just couldn’t believe the number of people who were marching. We were probably 100,000 or more.

Amazing. I guess he got tired of posting as Simple Simon.
The funny thing is, way back on Oct. 26th, Bush Admirer was spending most of his time on Portland.indymedia.org, laughing about what he considered were 10 or 20 protestors getting together and comparing notes -- smelly hippies, he called them.
So, now he's back, to post and complain about the anti-war demonstrations again. And now, there's probably something like 20 million people all around the world, protesting.
Hey ass hole, if you're not paid by the government, listen-up: Iraq isn't a significant threat. Israel moved them from #1 down to #6 on their list (it's public record, and a software entrepreneur from Texas - as you claim to be, should have the intelligence to find the info). The CIA released a report in Oct. 2002 indicating that Iraq didn't pose a major threat when it came to weapons of mass destruction, but would if we attacked. And on and on an on.
You're such an ass hole that you think this is about partisan politics. There are major generals and retired generals strongly against this war. There are thousands of business people and republicans putting their names to petitions.
Take your head out of your rush limburger world. Yeah, pacifica and the left aren't perfect (you like to bitch about both). Some of their ideas aren't all that hot. But you, my friend, are as pompously ignorant as they come.

Just saw ABC's TV News of the event. About 15 seconds, in which they said something like: "The protests were mostly peaceful, although there was a minor disruption, which was dealt with by the police." Phew. That's a relief. I thought somebody might have been PROTESTING A WAR or something!
CNN was not much better. They stated that "15,000 people lined the streets," which most people would have thought meant that 15,000 people ATTENDED, when actually it was closer to 100,000.
So, the major corporations still don't get that World War III is bad for business - even for THEIR business. Thanks Indymedia and KPFK/Pacifica for getting out the truth.

Halabja, standing against oppression
Joy and happiness permeated the air in Halabja.
Smiles never faded from the lips of the ever oppressed people of this town.
The Iraqi fighter planes carried out the chemical bombing of Halabja,
and some hours later the news came that Khormal, too, had suffered
chemical bombing.
The sound of laughter died down.
Children sought the shelter of their mothers' arms.
This was the beginning of the great crime of history.
On Thursday March 17, 1988, and on Friday March 18, there took place one of
the most shameful and fearful inhumane crimes of history in Halabja. The town of
Halabja was bombed with chemical and cluster bombs more than twenty times
by Iraqi fighter planes.
In every street and alley women and children rolled over one another.
The sound of crying and groans rose from every house in the town.
Many families who were sleeping happily in their beds in their liberated town,
were subjected before sunrise to chemical bombing,
and poisonous gases did not even allow them to rise from their beds.
Such was the situation on the bloody Friday of Halabja.
Reasons not to remove saddam

Photo in LA Times 2-16-03 of entire length of march: from the Roosevelt Hotel to the tail of the march. distance 1and 3/4 miles between 10 and 11 blocks, continuous and packed from sidewalk to sidewalk on Hollywood Blvd. included on the sidewalks a large number who were so amazed at the turnout that they had to gawk from a better vantage. Puts a lie to the media and police contention that only 30,000 people showed up in a march only 4 blocks in length. My estimate using this ratio: 75,000 people minimum.

Slavery. The Holocaust. Halabja, Iraq. September 11th. How could we let this happen?
I'm sick of asking that question.
There's no more room in the world for tyranny. If we don't stop Saddam now while we have the advantage, we'll be back there in another 5 to 10 years with a situation on our hands we can't possibly afford. Whatever money is spent, whatever lives are lost on whatever side of the fight will be a microscopic fraction of what we will have within the next decade. Why would I want to wait for a threat to be imminent? It seems like "imminent" is almost synonymous with "too late". "Too late" in the weapons of mass destruction terms, pretty much means world war 3.
Who are we kidding? You can't reason with a guy like this?
Don't believe me? Ask 5 million dead jews.
Don't tell your president he can't stop a tyrant.

Can you say, Baaaa? -"Slavery. The Holocaust. Halabja, Iraq. September 11th. How could we let this happen?-" Well, for instance it starts when the people allow a non elected scum like Bush into the white house without a whimper (helped by a totally bought off, muzzled press) and then it is helped by a horde of miss led or willfully disceptive propagandizing individuals who promote the idea that hate and violence is the only solution to crimes committed by a ruling elite who couldn't care less about the misery brought about by agendas crafted to enrich the very few. Ignorance is no excuse. Do your own research and look around. How tiresome.

Adam - That was a great post. You made your point very succinctly and drove it home. There is no room for disagreement.
Sheep Sniffer - That was a dumb post -- even dumber than your usual. President Bush is not 'non-elected scum.' To the contrary, he is the legally elected President of these United States, and he's doing a great job.
And Sheepdog, we don't have a 'ruling elite.' You're getting us confused with Iraq. They do have a ruling elite.
Those highly erroneous far-left sound bites like 'ruling elite' and 'non-elected' are really getting tired and worn out. They weren't valid when first trotted out here, and they haven't acquired even a smidgen of validity with continued use. In other words, you need some new material Sheepdog.

Dr,
I won't call names and attack you because you are a civilian, but I find it interesting that you, with all your education, find it amusing to fling out flowery comments about the military. I understand you must have quite a hatred for the military to use us (yes, I am an uneducated war mongering military member) as your personal whipping boy, but support us or not, I would challenge you to conjure up even 1/10th of the courage it takes to face a fanatical, violent enemy thousands of miles away from home, completely separated from any kind of support group or family for months on end. I know, you want to tell me that we in the military "know what we are getting ourselves into" and that we don't deserve any kind of special nod from those we protect, but I disagree. No seventeen year-old has a CLUE what lies ahead when committing to 4 years in the military.
In the future, I would advise you to focus your emotional comments at areas other than the military. We ask NOTHING of you or any other civilian except a little basic room to operate, nothing more. Do not use us as a Conservative pawn war mongering reference, and do NOT say "I support my troops" as a cheesy, fake afterthought, like so many of those against me and my military brothers do.
By the way, those 5 Marine POWs who witnessed 4 of their fellow American's executions at the hands of the Iraqis on Sunday do not thank you for your lack of support.
Very Respectfully John B. (SEAL, US Navy)
