Mexica New Year Event

On Sunday, February 2, 2003, the Cultural Center of Anahuac will have an educational forum and celebration for Mexica (Aztec) New Year. The event will feature presentations, traditional indigenous foods, and conversation circles. The celebration will culminate in the evening with a performance by Cuauhtemoc, an indigenous punk band from Santa Ana.

The event will be held at the Centro Cultural de Mexico, located at 1522 S. Main Street, in Santa Ana, from 10AM-6PM.

People of all ages and nationalities are encouraged to attend to learn more about indigenous culture and history. Donations are appreciated.

10AM-1PM- Presentations in Spanish

1PM-2PM- Lunch break

2PM-6PM- Presentations in English. Topics will include: The Mexica Calendar, Mexica History, What is Anahuac?, The Role of Indigenous Women

I hope this event isn't being put on by the backwards-thinking, stuck-in-the-60/70's mexica movement.
