need to find a decent job
I am a nineteen year old radical thats faced with the prospect of starving to death if i don't find a job soon. I was just fired from working at some big drug store because i didn't come into work due to a misunderstanding in the schedule. I was wondering if anyone knew of any job where i could find community-based work and not be pushed around by a bunch of assholes. If not, i got a nice job at "Taco Bell" lined up for me.
I live in Long Beach, if you can help please write to me.

I hope I can hire this fine lad before the whole world beats me to it. What employer, besides some kind of raving fascist, wouldn't LOVE to hire this 19 year old radical who can't read his schedule and doesn't want to be pushed around by assholes?
Indymedia should make him an editor. Maybe you could call him everyday to tell him when to come in, or better yet, send a car for him. Be sure to pay him a living wage, though.
Good luck at Taco Bell, nimrod. I'll be avoiding ones in Long Beach for about a week, until you get fired.

In the tyranny and hostility of America, I feel for the future Taco Bell employee. The North Korean army may have a place for you. When you zero in, I will try to find the "coordinates" of the self-gratiating "Employer".
The time has come to realize we are all in shackles and the rich would urinate down our throats if it gave them more control over us.

I also go to college too, and I'm sure if you were to meet me in real life you would never have the balls to talk to me like that. I've been living on my own for two years now, and have had to pay all my expenses myself, but I'm sure you know what it feels like to not have enough money for anything but food and rent.
"What's wrong with America" is privledged assholes like yourself, (and don't try to tell me you're not), who probably have to some cushy job working for an investment bank and try to make me feel bad for being in a tough position. I say come to Long Beach and eat at as many Taco Bells as you please, it ought to have the nice effect of reducing your life by a few needless years.

I've got your cushy job, all right, college boy. I own a (actually two) small businesses, and work too many hours for not enough. My biggest expense is labor, my employees, because if you find a good one (obviously not you) you do whatever you have to to keep him, because thats how you make it. That's how I can do more jobs, and make more money, because I have employees I can depend on, and who can depend on me.
If you want to be a professional radical, why, good luck to you. That's what college teaches these days. But if you get any kind of a job, the shut the fuck up and DO YOUR JOB. Then you can get a better job, if that's what you want. I realize that could be construed as selling out to the man, or compromising your ideals, or not keeping it real, or what the fuck ever. But it's is how the world works. Maybe after the revolution the rich won't get to piss on everyone (that's a good one.) But until then keep your head down and keep your feet moving.
Why wouldn't I say this to your face? It is God's own truth. Just because a couple of other lefty clowns rise to your defense doesn't make it false. Has Indymedia hired you yet?

dave, I do apologize if I seemed to come down on you a little hard. I HAVE been there, trust me. I have been on both ends of numerous hirings and firings, and so I know what it takes to be both employer and employee. What got me rolling was your description of yourself as a "19 year old radical" who didn't want to "take orders from assholes." Well, radical or not, no one does. But a boss who is always an asshole isn't going to attract good employees. (See above.) Conversely, an employee who hates and quits EVERY job because the boss is an asshole, well, the problem isn't the boss. If you had described yourself as a 19 year old kid looking for a job, you would have gotten no grief from me. So truly, good luck to you. Just do your fucking job, whatever it is.
You were right about one thing, though. I am privileged. I live here, and not somewhere else.

All I can say Dave is get used to being "pushed around by assholes". It's life. Your not going to find a job that pays money without dealing with assholes...thats why they pay you money to be there.
