The Pink Party

by Christine Jones Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003 at 4:49 AM
peace@jonesandco.com 612-673-9757 428 North First Street

Be Pink, Be Peace, Be Planet!
Pass it on.

The Definition of Pink

PINK
Positive, physical tranquillity, nurture, warmth, femininity, love, sexuality, survival of the species.

Being a tint of red, pink also affects us physically, but it soothes, rather than stimulates. (Interestingly, red is the only colour that has an entirely separate name for its tints. Tints of blue, green, yellow, etc. are simply called light blue, light green?etc.) Pink is a powerful colour, psychologically. It represents the feminine principle, and survival of the species; it is nurturing and physically soothing.
From "Colour Affects"

PINK
n. [Perh. akin to pick; as if the edges of the petals were picked out. Cf. Pink, v. t.] 1. (Bot.) A name given to several plants of the caryophyllaceous genus Dianthus , and to their flowers, which are sometimes very fragrant and often double in cultivated varieties. The species are mostly perennial herbs, with opposite linear leaves, and handsome five-petaled flowers with a tubular calyx.

2. A color resulting from the combination of a pure vivid red with more or less white; -- so called from the common color of the flower. --Dryden.

3. Anything supremely excellent; the embodiment or perfection of something. ``The very pink of courtesy.'' --Shak.
From "Webster's Dictionary"

PINK
1. The highest or best degree: in the pink of health.

2. Slang. Having moderately leftist political opinions.
From "Webster's Dictionary"

PINKS
1. Light-colored trousers formerly worn as part of the winter semidress uniform by U.S. Army officers.
From "Webster's Dictionary"

The Pink Party
The Pink Party welcomes everyone interested in promoting global peace and understanding. It promotes creative solutions towards global peace and humanitarianism. It bleeds over hard lines and welcomes all. It's not an anti-war movement but a PRO-Peace, PRO-Planet awareness and advocacy philosophy. The Pink Party promotes global peace and understanding yet believes in protecting and honoring freedom and those who fight for it. We are proud to be Americans and proud to be free. We believe in world peace and global freedom and will strive for awareness. We are global citizens and we are a world party.
From "The Pink Party"

Action:
- Bleed Pink - talk about it, reach out. Information and creative solutions.

- Wear Pink - a visual reminder of peace and good will. Pink hair, Pink clothes, Pink sunglasses, Pink lightbulbs, Pink ribbons, etc.

- "War is Not Healthy for Children and Other Living Things," artist Lorraine Schneider, 1969 to re-create her original pro-peace artwork in hues of Pink.? (Still need to speak with her)
The Visual:
- To see the colour Pink wherever you go. A colourful indicator that encourages communication with respect to global issues. Pink encourages creative inquiry and resolve. To see photos in the newspaper and magazines that are splattered with pink. To see people with their hair dyed pink, their pets dyed pink, wearing pink ties, grooming pink flowers, trimming pink trees, drinking pink... you get the picture.

What we encourage:
- Protecting and honoring freedom
- Global peace and equality for humanity
- Open communication towards global solutions
- Championing children and other little creatures
- Non-violence and non-violent practices
- Humans and animal rights
- Affordable housing, food, and medical for all people
- Communities that reach, unite, and flourish
- Non denominational participation, all pathways lead to God and everyone is a child of God
- Organic and free range farming
- Independent entrepreneurs, local shops, and businesses
- Hemp crop production
- A chemical and toxic free environment
- Knowledge is power and education is key
- Want less, be more
- Alternative energy sources and public transportation
- Live close to where you work
- Carpool when possible
- Take the best and leave rest
- Being aware of history and the present
- Being a proud American
- Love and understanding

Be Pink, Be Peace, Be Planet!

Boycott Martin Sheen

by Bush Admirer Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at 6:36 PM

I'm all done watching movies or TV programs starring Martin Sheen, Sean Penn, Barbara Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Susan Sarandon, etc.

They're history for me. I've watched them for the last time.

If I were to attend one of their movies, a fraction of my ticket price would find it's way into their pockets. That's flatly unacceptable because I'd then be supporting anti-American traintorous scumbags. Thanks but no thanks.

Bush Whore,
Don't forget to boycott Martin Scorsese, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Jessica Lange, Alfre Woodard, David Duchovny, Matt Damon, Robert Redford, Mike Farrel, Dustin Hoffman, Edward Norton, Rosario Dawson, Barry Pepper, Kim Basinger, Samuel L Jackson, Anjelica Huston . . . In fact, you're probably gonna have to boycott anything that involves entertainment.

Maybe that's why you're here all the time? Sad pathetic man.

Turn off those "Dallas" re-runs, BushBlower:

BERLIN (AFP) - US actor Larry Hagman, former star of the television series "Dallas", slammed President George W. Bush as a sad but dangerous figure with little education.
"If George Bush attacks Iraq, tens of thousands of people will die without reason," Hagman told Thursday's edition of the Tagesspiegel newspaper.
The actor, who played the notorious Texas oil baron JR Ewing in the Dallas series, said Bush was a "sad figure: not too well educated, who doesn't get out of America much. He's leading the country towards facism."
When asked whether Bush would appreciate his accusation, Hagman replied: "It's all the same to me, he wouldn't understand the word facism anyway."
He said Bush and JR Ewing both came from the Texas oil industry but that the president was not smart enough to be like JR.
"JR was so smart he always found a way to win without violence ... he ruined his enemies financially or socially."

Martin Sheen sucks!

Him and pretty much the rest of Hollywood ought to be given a one way ticket out of the U.S.A! They are an insult to "real Americans".

Hello Martin, hello Hollywood, listen up! WE DON'T NEED YOU! We don't need your "left wing bleeding heart liberal thinking and actions."

Boycott Martin Sheen and Hollywood. Instead of wasting your time and money supporting these jerks, read books, spend time with your children, make love to your significant other.

The next time you see a program Martin or others like him are starring in, write a short note to the sponsors telling them that you're not going to buy their products.

You are Welcome as Always

by Diogenes Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 at 5:11 PM

Agreed - it is an item or perennial disgust to me that people like B.A., Simpleton, and the rest of the blinded Right refuse to acknowledge of even look at the crimes that have been committed against our own loyal men and women in uniform.

Just a few (as I am sure you are aware but for the benefit of the gallery):

Using them as "Guinea Pigs" in the Atomic Bomb Tests, Testing tolerance to Radiation exposure (without their knowledge or consent), testing of infectious organisms i.e., BIOTERROR tests, unapproved Vaccine tests, and the horrific MK Ultra Mind control Experiments begun in the 50's (dosing Soldiers secretly with LSD and other Drugs to induce psychoses and to see if they could then be programmed).
The H - Bomb Tests at Bikinni Atoll when entire ships crews were subjected to hard radiation to test decontamination equipment. And the list goes on.

If at the time of my Enlistment I had known how filthily our guys had been treated there is NO WAY I would have raised that Right Paw.

Well what a joke that is, we are not United now because of you anti-american anit war people...you've given Saddam what he wants America un united.....Stop doing this to us!!!!

Since you were not able to puzzle it out yourself - Sheepdog up there IS a COMBAT VETERAN. I am a Veteran. I come from a family of Veterans who have served in damn near every war since before the Revolutionary War. There are an awful lot of us who do not blindly accept the latest pronouncements of Rush Limbaugh and the Excellence in Disinformation Network. So kindly get you facts straight before you make a further ass of yourself.
So madam if you would be so kind as to shove it. My rather rigid upbring prevents me from stating it as explicitly as I would like. But somehow I think you might be perceptive enough to get the point.

It's not being anti-american to state your views on a pointless war. Damn right that our fathers and grandfathers who fought for freedom in WWII gave up a lot for us, and many good men died in Vietnam, as well. However, there's a difference between dying for the good of a nation and dying to take some of the heat off of an illiterate war-mongerer (if you didn't get me, I meant our esteemed President) who has been interested in nothing but oil prices from the beginning. Sure, Saddam could be a threat...however, homelessness, AIDS, species extinction, not to mention some of the lowest test scores in our schools to date and a host of other REAL threats face our homefront right now. Boys are being sent over to die in an alien land for an unknown reason...anyone who lived through Vietnam should be experiencing de ja vous right now. This is pointless, and it's going to get a lot worse, not because of our 'hippie' attitudes, but because those of you who consider yourselves to be 'real' Americans can't find it in yourselves to stop and smell the napalm in the air.

Who cares what actors think, God they make their living pretending to be someone other than themselves - it's pathetic. Show me another profession other than entertainment that spends so much time patting each other on the back and giving each other awards. Oh yeah, they really love sucking each other off don't they. They like to portray Presidents, police officers, & soldiers - but very few of them would have the balls to actually live the stress of being president, face criminals alone on the street, or pick up a rifle and DEFEND their free right to make asses of themselves. They all make me sick.

by Diogenes Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 at 11:33 PM

Nitecastle - don't forget the Currency War as well. If the Oil producing Nations switch to the Euro as their trade Currency the Private Federal Reserve Banking System faces a crisis of confidence in the value of their wastepaper.

Never forget that at it's basic Fiat (Paper) Currency is "an idea backed by confidence".

If the public loses confidence in the exchangability of the Currency then it has no value. If the Baker down the street won't take those pictures of Dead Presidents in exchange for his goods you ain't gonna eat. (Unless you have had the foresight to buy Gold or live on a Farm.)

Witness Weimar Germany immediately before the rise of the Third Reich. The Currency became debased and valueless. It literally took a Bushel Basket of Paper Currency to buy a loaf of Bread. The money was losing value by the minute.

And B.A. of course it's not just the OIL. Keep telling yourself that long enough and even you may begin to believe it.

Larry Hagaman needs to take note that George W. Bush is the leader of the free world and JR Ewing is a FICTIONAL character he once, many years ago, played on TV. I find it truly comical that Mr. Hagman has the confidence to say, for all the world to hear, that President Bush is uneducated. I'm sure the faculties at Yale and Harvard would beg to differ. What is sad to see is the uneducated Larry Hagman making a fool of himself for the whole world to read about; and to think I used to watch his crappy show.

Martin Sheen is a disgrace to America. I can understand his dislike of war, but what will he do when terrorism strikes again on American soil. He will probibly rationalize it, and make himself believe in self-preservation over the preservation of his family. The real reason all these entertainment types are so up in arms over the use of force to get rid of Saddam is because they're still pissed off about the election.

Give me a break..

What we encourage: "The LEFT"
- Protecting and honoring freedom (What is our Military doing ?????? )
- Global peace and equality for humanity (Peace is achieved through might & respect)
- Open communication towards global solutions (How can you, speak openly when a large percentage of the world wants to kill us ????)
- Championing children and other little creatures (I think we need to work on the Adults first)
- Non-violence and non-violent practices (Ask the 3,000 Americans that died 9-11 about non-violence.)
- Humans and animal rights (Go live in Iraq, there are lots of cheap flights right now)
- Affordable housing, food, and medical for all people (Get out of your multi-million dollar houses)
- Communities that reach, unite, and flourish (This I support)
- Non denominational participation, all pathways lead to God and everyone is a child of God (I agree, everyone needs God, if we all had God & accepted Jesus into our lives, there would be no problems)
- Organic and free range farming (Yeah nice thought)
- Independent entrepreneurs, local shops, and businesses
- Hemp crop production
- A chemical and toxic free environment
- Knowledge is power and education is key (I agree)
- Want less, be more (Yeah, you (the Hollywood Left) say this.. They lie)
- Alternative energy sources and public transportation
- Live close to where you work
- Carpool when possible
- Take the best and leave rest (Yeah, right)
- Being aware of history and the present
- Being a proud American (Respect & honor those that have died so we all can be free)
- Love and understanding

You know one of the Great Things about this country is we have the right to Speak Freely, I don't like nor do I give a damn what these (The Radical Left) people think. It is their right as Americans. As far as the Hollywood bunch, they can take the French and kiss my butt.

I have just returned from 3 mo. in SE Asia, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia and ALL the people you speak to in the towns and villages seem to know the war with Iraq is about oil. No one likes Saddam or is angry with the US-----they simply believe the war is about oil and so do I.

by David Sunday, Mar. 02, 2003 at 10:27 PM

Yet i do respect the fact that you liberal vietnam vets did serve in the militiary what i do not respect is how you got there and the way you acted on the way there....dont use your damn "I'm a combat veteran" when probably.....you did not even see any combat...and if you did you most certainly did not want to be there or even did your job while you were there...and even tho you were in the militiary doesnt mean a goddamn thing....big fuckin deal alot of people were in the militiary the way you guys speek and act show how anit-american your are...it doesnt matter what anyone says to you (wrong or right) or always going to go the way to the left....for instance say i asked you a political question (doesnt matter what) and you did not know wether the left or the right supported it...you would say what you believed.....but then if i said that the right wingers support that you would change your mind instantly and force yourself to believe that......just because of the supposed type of politcal background you are apart of......you kno damn well if there was al gore in office you would would support him 100 percent...because hes a liberal........then you say that we are going to attack iraq for oil....thats just a thing made up by the people opposing war with iraq to sway the beliefs of people who have not made their minds up yet....just like we call you guys anti-americans...yes you may not be anti-american (alot of you are actually are though)...but we say that for the people who who not made up their minds yet......in other words DONT THROW THAT WE ATTACK IRAQ FOR OIL....you liberals have always been the greedy fuckers in society

We have a choice

by Jeff Tuesday, Mar. 04, 2003 at 7:06 PM

As I see it we have a choice, perhaps several.
Do we know what the future holds? No. Do we know and understand history? I hope so.
I do not want war any more than the next person. One question I think we should really ask ourselves very honestly.
If we had the chance to stop hitler before he became a problem should we have?
Don't get me wrong, I am not directly comparing then to now.
But in some degree this is the same, no Sadam is no Hitler, but his ideas are similar. Has he killed his own people? Yes
Do we want another situation like that ?
How do we stop him? Another resolution? He has had 18 already. Should the UN have balls? Yes they should.
Can the UN solve this? Yes they can, but not as long as countries like France and Germany have such strong financial ties to Sadam.
I ask everyone, what is the answer if not force?

Why, when people like you are so unfamiliar with it?
Do you know about Lebensraum, the Reichstag fire,
and Hitler's use of "self-defense" to justify starting wars?

Re: We have a choice

by Allison100 Tuesday, Mar. 04, 2003 at 11:18 PM

Jeff:
"Has he killed his own people?"
That is a strange question to ask... There are many nations in this world which kill their own people. Somehow Bush chooses Iraq. I believe that oil is more important to Bush than justice. I just wonder why USA have to always be the first one who bombs the other countries in situations like this.

"What is the answer if not force?"
I ask: What happens if not force? What will happen? End of the world? Iraq destroys the planet? Saddam attacks USA? Not likely.

It seems to be that you people have been brainwashed by some war propaganda. Saddam can't do anything against you. If he kills his own people, solution is not to bomb the country and start a war.

After this you ask propably "what is the solution then?". I don't know. Usually things run on their own. Sometimes there is no solution. But I'm damn sure that the right solution is NOT to hit that country with heavy bombers and destroyers. It's the most idiotic solution.

I myself want to ask one question. If USA attacks Irak and Saddam Hussein gets killed, what will happen after that? Will Iraq be a happy nation? Will those people smile and cheer? Will there be justice and peace after the war? Will there be democracy, McDonalds and Motorola mobilephones for all?

My answer is NO. It will be a hell on earth. Thousands of people will die in civil wars. All kinds of extremist groups will try to take over. You americans will be there for a couple of years "leading" the country but when you notice that it costs lots of dollars, you back up and leave. I'm sure of it. At that time Iraq will be a closed issue and no-one cares about it anymore. Then the hell breaks loose.

Those people have lived all their lives under the Saddam Hussein. They don't have a clue about anything else. Think about it. You cannot change that. USA will destroy that nation by starting the war.

I'm happy that there are people like Martin Sheen and other famous people from Hollywood who show that Hollywood is not just light entertainment but there are also brains working behind it. - Allison

What's you point?

by Johny RightWing Wednesday, Mar. 05, 2003 at 3:57 PM

Having stumbled upon this site after doing a search on "Fuck Martin Sheen" I must say that I am amused. For those of you libs that once again think that this upcoming conflict is about oil I ask.. Did we have control of the oil fields in 1991? YES we did. Did we take a drop? No we didn't. Where is our history of Imperialism?

Secondly, do you think that we should just walk away from Iraq? What do you feel the best solution should be? 15 nations of the security council voted for Saddam to disarm. They unanimously agreed that he has biologic and chemical weapons. They unanimously agreed that he was in material breech of the prevous 16 resolutions that demanded disarmament. They unanimously agreed that he is a threat to his own people, his neighbors and world community. Has he disarmed yet? You dont think he's a danger to us? Anthrax has already made it to our shores. I believe Ricin, has shown up twice now in England within the last 6 weeks. Do you want to see more of it here? Do you honestly believe that Iraq is currently not funding homicide bombers in Isreal? Do you not believe Mr. Powell when he says he is harboring and nuturing relationships with Al Quaida. How is it that Saddam Hussein has more credibility than our own leaders? Do you not think that if Mr. Powell were to lie that every other intelligence organisation from dissenting countries would not jump at the chance to prove him wrong. Have they? No, Im not a war mongerer. I hate seeing it. But I'd really like to hear of a realistic alternative to physically disarming, rather than I don't know.

AboutFrance and Germany. How many billions in oil deals have they made with Saddam? For them, yes I definately think its about oil.

Finally, I find it amusing that you all take the words of hollywood goofballs as your mantra. It is easy to always preach peace. It takes strength to know when force must be used. If a rapist has your daughter and wife at knifepoint, would you a) grab you gun and disarm him or b) hug him and try to understand him?

Anti-war celebs

by Rosa Thursday, Mar. 06, 2003 at 10:46 AM
perilousjourney@hotmail.com

I find it great that so many celebrities are anti-war. I'm irish and a majority of the irish population are extremely anti-war. Don't get me wrong, we are definately not anti-american, and I stress that issue. Many people are under the believe that being anti-war means that your anti-american, however they are very much mistaken.
It's my belief that the people that are pro-war do not know of the consequences that war brings with it; famine, the destruction of homes, families, land, the list is endless. The point is, that millions of innocent people shall suffer unnecessarily. Put yourself in there shoes. Many people seem think it right to go to war, but those of you who do, ask tell yourself this; everyday thousands of americans are heartbroken over the events of September 11th, if George Bush has his way then September 11th will be happening all over again, everyday for millions in Iraq. Horrifying!
Others believe that they need some sort of justification or revenge for September 11th, but why? It's not going to change a thing, nobody will be brought back again to life, the death of innocents in the future will not justify the deaths of those who suffered on September 11th.
Imagine the torture, pain and suffering that September 11th brought to those of you whe suffered and instead of causing more unnecessary suffering, why not help prevent more of this unnecessary suffering by attempting to prevent war on Iraq.
WAR IS NOT NECESSARY!

Not About Oil

by B. Realistic Thursday, Mar. 06, 2003 at 11:52 AM

I am not going to come on here and bash a veteran of the U.S. military. I also respect your right to oppose war, but if you're going to make accusations about the President's motives, please, let's include some realistic facts. First of all, no matter what some conspiracy theorist on the left has told you, this is NOT about oil. Iraq is 6th on the list of countries that the U.S. imports oil from, and that amount has sharply decreased over the last year. If this oil theory were correct, we would have already taken over; Canada, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, Venezuela, and Nigeria. Second, let's look at the countries that oppose our efforts and see just who has the ulterior motives. It is a FACT that France and Russia are Iraq's two largest creditors in the world. France has ongoing business contracts with Saddam Hussein that give the French exclusive development rights to some of Iraq's largest oil fields, containing nearly 30-billion barrels of oil. Iraq is also billions of dollars in debt to France. If Saddam goes, there's a good chance that all of those contracts and all of that debt will not be honored. On to Russia, who currently has a very lucrative oil deal with Iraq worth close to two billion dollars. Under the U.N.'s "oil for food" program, Russia buys oil from Iraq well below the market price and turns around and sells it for a major profit. That money is supposed to go toward food for the Iraqi people, but Saddam uses it for whatever he pleases. Iraq is also in major debt to Russia. Approximately eight billion dollars in debt, to be a little more exact. Again, if Saddam goes, so go the contracts and all of the money that is owed. All of this isn't my opinion, it's documented FACT. So when it comes to making emotional knee-jerk accusations about ulterior "oil motives" just because our current President, at one time, owned stock in an oil company, please at least allow a little light to be shed on just who really has ulterior motives in averting this war. Again, I'm not here to bash, name call, or sling mud. If you don't want this war, I accept that. But please, get some facts straight before making these kind of accusations.

Swing Blades
Rumsfeld Filled His Pockets with Pyongyang's Nuclear Loot
By CHRIS FLOYD
It's a well-known fact--oft detailed in this column--that the boys in the Bush Regime swing both ways. We speak, of course, of their proclivity--their apparently uncontrollable craving--for stuffing their trousers with loot from both sides of whatever war or military crisis is going at the moment.
That's why it came as no surprise to read last week that just before he joined the Regime's crusade against evildoers everywhere (especially rogue states that pursue the development of terrorist-ready weapons of mass destruction), Pentagon warlord Donald Rumsfeld was trousering the proceeds from a $200 million deal to send the latest nuclear technology--including plenty of terrorist-ready "dirty bomb" material--to the rogue state of North Korea, Neue Zurcher Zeitung reports.
In 1998, Rumsfeld was citizen chairman of the Congressional Ballistic Missile Threat Commission, charged with reducing nuclear proliferation. Rumsfeld and the Republican-heavy commission came down hard on the deal Bill Clinton had brokered with North Korea to avert a war in 1994: Pyongyang would give up its nuclear weapons program in exchange for normalized relations with the United States, plus the construction of two non-weaponized nuclear plants to generate electricity. The plants were to be built by an international consortium of government-backed business interests called KEDO.
Rum deal, said Rummy: those nasty Northies would surely turn the peaceful nukes to nefarious ends. What's more, even the most innocuous nuclear plant generates mounds of radioactive waste that could be made into "dirty bombs"--hand-carried weapons capable of killing thousands of people. The agreement was big bad juju that threatened the whole world, Rumsfeld declared.
Of course, that didn't prevent him from trying to profit from it. Even while he chairing commission meetings on the "dire threat" posed by the Korean program, Rumsfeld was junketing to Zurich for board meetings of the Swiss-based energy technology giant, ABB, where he was a top director. And what was ABB doing at the time? Why, negotiating that $200 million deal with North Korea to provide equipment and services for the KEDO nuclear reactors, of course!
Yes, nuclear proliferation is ugly stuff--but you might as well squeeze a few dollars from it, right? A smart guy always plays the angles--and, as the hero-worshiping American media never stop telling us, Rumsfeld is one smart guy.
In fact, he's so smart that he's now playing dumb. A Pentagon spokesman says Rumsfeld "can't recall" discussing the Korean deal at ABB board meetings. And his erstwhile ABB corporate colleagues say that it's possible the subject never came up. Of course it didn't; going into the nuclear business with a Communist tyranny that very nearly launched a nuclear war against the West just four years before, in a deal that involved high-level negotiations with the governments of the United States, South Korea, Japan and the European Union--that's certainly the kind of thing that would be handled by a couple of junior executives in a branch office somewhere. Nothing for the bigwigs--especially hard-wired government players like Rumsfeld--to trouble their pretty heads about. A perfectly reasonable explanation.
And so Rumsfeld joins the roster of Bush Regime multimillionaires who once trumpeted their "business savvy" as selling points for their right to national leadership but now claim to have been "hands-off" figureheads who had no idea what their companies were up to. Bush, in his sinkhole of insider trading and stockholder scamming at Harken; Cheney, making fat deals with Saddam Hussein (yes, after the Gulf War) and muddying up the corporate books at Halliburton; Army Secretary Thomas White, gaming the power grid and stealing millions for Enron in the manufactured California "energy crisis"--all of them went from mighty moguls to mere "front men" the instant their corruption was brought to light. None of it was their fault; nothing ever is.
Whatever happened to Bush's much-trumpeted "era of responsibility?" These guys are not only chiselers, hustlers, hypocrites and war profiteers--they're a bunch of gutless wonders as well. So you'll pardon us if we are just the tiniest bit cynical about the "moral arguments for war" and other such buckets of warm spit this gang is now forcing down the world's throat.
Postscript 1: Losing the Plot And what became of that 1994 pact with North Korea? UN inspectors entered the country to make sure the weapons program was put on ice. Pyongyang signed a number of lucrative deals with various politically-connected Western firms, like ABB, to build the promised energy plants, while waiting for the normalization of relations with the United States to begin--a move which most observers thought would set North Korea on a course toward China-style "moderation" of its monolithic regime.
But normalization never came. Clinton, pressured by rightwing forces (such as Rumsfeld's commission) who opposed any truck whatsoever with godless commies, did his usual folding number, with much windy suspiration of forced breath--and no action. The KEDO companies pocketed Pyongyang's cash but dithered about the actual construction. Pyongyang--while not exactly a font of smiling cooperation itself--concluded that the pact was being deep-sixed. This suspicion was confirmed when Bush took office, calling Korean leader Kim Jong Il a "pygmy" and declaring the county part of the "Axis of Evil."
Pyongyang then accelerated its weapons program, kicked out the UN inspectors, and is now threatening to unleash a nuclear war if Bush, a la Iraq, makes a "pre-emptive strike."
A dicey situation, sure--but at least Don Rumsfeld made some money out of it.
Postscript 2: Red Don Rising The Korean caper was not the first time Rummy signed up for both teams, of course. There is the little matter of his former financial tryst with the leaders of Communist China -a most Bushian affair, featuring ruling family members profiting from Daddy's government power.
It happened on this wise. A few months after Rumsfeld joined the Bush Regime stable, the American master of war bagged an estimated $500,000 by cashing in his joint investment with Jiang Mianheng, son of former Chinese president Jiang Zemin. The pair had been partnered in Shanghai's Red Flag Software, which is used by the godless Chinese commies to, er, block attempts by American spies to penetrate Beijing's computer networks. Naturally, Red Rum was not bothered by these national security considerations--not when there was easy money to be had.

Thank you Martin Sheen. Why is it that being for peace(AKA against people killing each other) mkes me un American? Is it because I don't believe tha something is right just because my government says so? That would make George washington Un American. Our Country is founded upon, not only fighting for causes, but the right to thnk for ourselves and decide if we feel a cause is right. The first amendment to the constitution of the United States Government Garantees everycitizen to speak his or her mind without fear of repercussion. If you are patriotic you are for the laws of the country not the opinion of one man. People who speak up for what they believe (No Matter What Others Think) are the true patriots. ALLISON,

First of all, I am not brainwashed, as I do not listen to most network (news) outlets.
Secondly, I do not need Hollywood speaking for me. They may be fine actors and actress' but that is all it makes them. Trust me they are no smarted or enlightened than you or me., they just have a bigger audience. Just because I have a differeent viewpoint, I must be brainwashed. You must tell me your religon as I was to be correct. Oh yes what kind of car do you drive because I am sure that is the best one. What make you right and everyone else wrong? What if by some remote chance you are wrong? What if Sadam snuck a dirty bomb into the US? What if he exploded it over New York, the half life of some of that stuff is thousands of years. And what about the money he gives to terrosts for killing Americans? You must be proud.

Supporting terrorism?

by War For Freedom Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 4:27 AM

Personally I think the US going to war to get Saddam out of power is a very good and necessary thing.

I feel that all these actors are just doing their part to please the public which they tend to do way too much. This isn't a game and if these actors and other non-acting antiwar protesters want to continue to live in a free country then this war is necessary. If we let Saddam go, we will all regret it down the road. We aren't out to get oil or kill children or Iraq civilians. All we want is Saddam and his weapons of mass destruction.

I feel those who oppose the war are supporting terrorism. Not with money but by making this country look divided when at a time like this we should be united and show our unity. Remember September 11th? Do you want that to happen again in this country, only 100 times worse? If so then go right ahead and continue with your antiwar protests. However, if you don't want this to happen then quite being a sheep and following the stars and stand up for your country and freedom and show your support for war against Saddam and terrorism.

Alright listen up you bozos

by Mr Pissed Off in Ohio Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 5:40 AM

I would like to propose a very relevant and important question here.

If we invade, and I hope we don't, but if we do, and we subsequently win (and we would), what then?

Shall we prop up another system, doomed to fall into a tailspin of facist dictatorship the moment we turn our heads for a minute? Put some new asshole in power to replace sadamm? That does seem to be our SOP. Every time we decide we shall take global action we leave the victims of our action to pick up the peaces as soon as public fascination with the movement has faded (which is usually about 20 minutes after the money has run out of whatever venture brought us there in the first place). Its happened time and again. Its why we have sadam to deal with now. Its what created bin laden. And we're doing it all over again.

Or.... Shall we declare iraq the 51st state? stay there forever? Start building minimalls and mcdonalds? I bet that'd go over *real well* with the natives. We'd be hearing about the daily suicide bombings in new iraq every damn day, and using it as an excuse to further our dominance and control of the region (why stop at 51?)

Or... Shall we expand isreal to include any lands over in the middle east that we decide to conquer? That'd work out great. Just great. We'd be seeing some biblically scaled badness happening in a hurry. Isreal is already a clusterfuck, allowing any expansion of it is unacceptable strongarming on a global scale and the rest of the world won't tolerate it.

So. The issue of whether or not we *should* oust sadam and how horribly he's treating his people is really a rather moot point. If we can't provide a long term improvement what the hell are we doing there? Pillaging and plundering. And issues of right or wrong aside, long term viability dictates that we let iraq deal with iraq, that we let the jews handle their own problems, and that we focus on the problems at home, namely the incredible corruption of the bush administration, classism, health care reform, our rapidly decaying educational (read that state mandated daycare) system, and the war on drugs.

Anything else is unrealistic and compounds our problems 10 fold several years from now.

And for those of you who would say i'm soft on terrorism, look at matters realistically. What we're attempting to do now will just fuel the fires and give justification to what is currently a debatable cause. But as soon as we start crusading like its our job, their cause has become completely vindicated.

We can NOT police the world, and because of that, we should get the hell out of the middle east and focus on the home front.

For the record, I am one of these "conspiracy wackos" you right wing types are so quick to attack. To anyone with a half open mind i encourage you to research the name John o'Neill, the Carlyle Group, and/or start doing some serious research into the bush family tree. They're some dirty bastards and they have been for a long time.

And to you pascifist left wing pussies. Please try to come up with a better arguement than "Its wrong". Thats so unrealistic. Its not a perfect world, to expect it to be is stupid. Sometimes action needs to be taken, eggs need to be cracked, etc etc. But in this case I feel such action is counterproductive in the long run and thus I appose it.

And to you hardcore right wing extremists. A united front is only worth as much as the cause the people are united around. The nazi's were pretty damn united too, and look where it got them. Grow up, look around, start thinking for yourself.

And to everyone, everywhere, please turn off CNN.

Japan and Germany were different situations

by Pissed Off in Ohio Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 6:24 AM

W_C: Japan and germany were completely different situations. We will never occupy iraq in the nature that we occupy japan/germany. Not until we conquer that entire region. And thats not going to happen.

For that matter, who's to say that what we've done to japan and germany is really that great? Yes their economies are sound and maybe we helped with that some but they did the work. And more importantly, where does that leave them, or our relations with them, the moment america has such problems that dictate its undivided attention? By your logic if we were to take over china we could then be accountable for their success.

Sheepdog: Yes i agree it is wrong. Thats still not a very good reason to do or not do anything these days. No one cares about right or wrong until it threatens their way of life. All i'm saying is that we should be honestly self-motivated in our actions, look out for number one, and can all this holier-than-thou moralistic crap. America will not being wearing white to the wedding. And thats ok, but we need to be realistic.

Hell i might not even be apposed to whats happening if bush would just come out and say 'we want the damn oil'. But no, he's got to make some huge moralistic 'axis of evil' tripe up to rally the masses. The whole thing is disgusting.

Sanctions???

by Incredulous Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 9:32 AM

Sheepdog, please tell me that you're not serious about sanctions being succesful at toppling Saddam! How many more years of proof do you need to see that sanctions only take food out of the mouths of the Iraqi people? Saddam, through his oil deals with Russia, still manages to get whatever he wants. And yes, I'm sure it's the imminent threat of attack that's causing the Iraqi people to rally around Saddam. I'm sure it's not the fact that the Iraqi people are only allowed to have what news information Saddam chooses to allow them access to. After all, if the Iraqi people weren't 100% behind Saddam they would surely be out on the streets of Baghdad protesting and carrying their own signs with clever little anti-Saddam slogans. I'm sure they could get away with that without having horrific acts carried out against their families, the likes of which would make Clive Barker lose sleep at night.

Saddam is not long for the World Regardless

by Diogenes Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 9:58 AM

Saddam Hussein is a 66 year old Cancer Patient - even if he is now in remission given his age and the toll exacted by Chemo-"Therapy" (a way to destroy your immune system and make your last years miserable) he is unlikely to live another ten years.
Dealing with Saddam, with a minimum loss of life, means patience and planning. One of the problems with the U.S. Government's Foreign Policy is Hidden Agendas and the desire for instant gratification before the next election.
If Saddam was the real issue he would already have been toppled or whacked or both. We have the resources to buy his death for a lot less money than this War is going to cost - both in dollars and more importantly lives.

Oil 4 Food Money Controlled by UN

by Fact Checker Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 10:55 AM

To B. Realistic:

Getting facts straight IS important.

However, your assertion that "Saddam uses [Oil For Food money] for whatever he pleases" is flat-out wrong. Funds generated by oil sales are held in a UN escrow account and disbursed directly to the contractors providing the products. Saddam can't touch the money.

If you don't believe me, visit the Oil For Food website, at http://www.un.org/Depts/oip/

So the source of your information is either willfully uninformed or intentionally lying. That being the case, how do you know that the remainder of what your source/sources say is accurate? The problem with Rush, O'Reilly, et. all., is that they intentionally misstate facts to make their case. O'Reilly has even admitted it, but defends his actions by saying his program is "entertainment, not news."

You seem like an intelligent, reasonable person. If you take the time to check, you may find that much of what you hear from the right wing and the Bush Administration is stretching the truth at best, and in other cases, complete propaganda.

And then ask yourself, "why do these guys feel they need to lie to win my heart and mind?"

The obvious answer: It's because they know that they don't have a case without lying.

And how do you think the White House views people who unquestioningly swallow whatever they say? Would they respect them? Or would they more likely see them as gullible sheep? My guess is the word "sucker" is probably involved.

Other recent lies, omissions, and exagerrations:
Colin Powell' assertion of Al-Qaida weapons lab in Northern Iraq. Administration knew of it and decided not to destroy it. See http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/DailyNews/iraq_mission_aborted020819.html Why? See http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2741003.stm

Assertions that Saddam "kicked out" the earlier weapons inspectors. See http://www.fair.org/extra/0210/inspectors.html

alternitive fuels are a joke

by Roger Langley Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 11:27 AM

Is it correct to observe that the rally cries for a color blind society come from parties named after a color ?
OMG now we have the Pink Party to contend with, and what do they want ? alternitve fuels... I assume this party is refering to electric cars and hydrogen fuels cells . clean energy , zero emmisions autos are a myth.
the (laws) of thermodynmics indeed, tells us that this is an (INEFFECIENT) method of energy consumption. In other words you are generating more greenhouse gasses when you drive an electric or fuel cell automobile !
Now , I would not say that ignorance, on your part, has played a hand in this issue. But what I dont understand, is that your insistance for the use of these autos makes the consumer more dependant on big oil companies and big electric utilities. Perhaps you might defend your position.
Moreover, the photovoltaic cell (i.e) solor power panels offer some relief from fossil fuels but these panels take up far to much land to be workable. again they are inefficient when considering the land usage involved... The same goes for wind energy.

If you say that the funds are kept out of Saddam's hands, I'll accept your word. Unfortunately, I think that minor statement overshadowed the larger point that I was trying to make. That being, that those who claim that this war is about oil (for the U.S.) are out in the cold. Is the DEBATE over the war about oil? Definitely, for France and Russia. I do not resort to only one source for my information and, as I said before, the vested interest that France and Russia have in keeping Saddam in power is not my opinion. It's verifiable fact. I don't usually trust .org websites, because they're always run by someone with an agenda, no matter what side of the aisle they're on. But I checked out the one that you provided that was supposed to show that Saddam didn't actually "kick" the inspectors out. The only thing I found on there was a bunch of conflicting statements made in the media. As far as "blindly" following the administration; support for their war effort does NOT constitute blind allegiance. There have been efforts by this administration that I have strongly opposed. For example; the pre-9/11 proposal to make all illegal aliens in this country legal. So again, support for this war effort does NOT constitute "blind allegiance." I would also offer you a similar admonition, in that you do not allow yourself to fall into what I would call "blind opposition." Opposing actions that may be necessary to ensure the safety of U.S. citizens, just because those actions are being taken by someone you don't agree with politically.

In 2010, oil production peaks then drops off precipitously. Didn't Rush inform you of this? By 2040 oil is gone. Then what, Mr Langley? I guess we could fuel everything through rightwing hot air.

Test Conditions (STC) of a module operating
temperature of 25°C in full noontime sunshine (irradiance) of 1,000 Watts
per square meter. Keep in mind that modules often operate much hotter
than 25°C in all but cold climates, reducing operating voltage and power
by about 0.5% for every 1°C hotter, thus a 100W module operating at 45°C
(20° hotter than STC yielding a 10% power drop) would actually produce
about 90 Watts.
[Hmmm
1 kwatt/meter (Let’s not be generous X .5)=500watts/meter squared. Looks like PLENTY of power in them thar fields]

...Even for doggies that is commonly referred to as hypocrisy...or just being a Republican...

...also conspicuously absent from your link was any reference to the highly inefficient and costly San Onofre that was the original plant that you, my dear doggie, brought up in the first place.

Wanna try telling those paying the bills to bailout that boondoggle how efficient it is? To investors who were bailed out I am sure it seems that way, but not to those of us paying the bills.

Now...straw man away, doggie, it is obvious that you don't know jack shit about San Onofre, CA AB 1890, Prop 9, or very much of ANYTHING for that fuckin matter.

I know a lot about San Onofre. I surf Old Man's.

I also know that the 'boondoggle' you are referring to is the cost overruns due to the DEACTIVATION of one of the reactors.

Andy why is the reactor being deactivated? Is it too old? Is it dangerous? Or is it because a bunch of ignorant hillbillies-by-the-sea put pressure on the legislature to eventually shut SONGS in favor of filthy, inefficient natural gas and oil power plants?

Hmm, that's a mystery.

However, it galls me that a Republican administration will recieve the accolades of being the liberators of Iraq. Not about Oil, but not about WMD either

by Fact Checker Friday, Mar. 07, 2003 at 6:59 PM

B. Realistic: Thanks for your civil reply.

First, my apologies that the fair.org link on Saddam's "kicking out" inspectors didn't parse well for you. The page compares current media reports that Saddam kicked out inspectors with EARLIER reports by those same news organs that the UN team was pulled out by the UN--the papers were contradicting themselves.

Nowadays, everyone tosses around the "kicked out" line (when there's political benefit to do so), yet no one made that assertion contemporaneously (when there wasn't). So what's the likely truth? For a pro-war oriented article (not on a .org site) which confirms that UN inpectors were pulled out, not "kicked out," try http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2002/09/08/wirq208.xml

As to not visiting .org sites because they have an agenda, remember that ALL sites have an agenda, including .com and .gov (I suppose .info, but who visits those sites anyway). The key is to reference as many places as possible to corroborate assertions of people whose ideas you support as well as those you don't. That's the only way to even begin to get to the truth.

To your bigger point: I agree that oil is not the sole, nor necessarily the primary driving force behind the Administration's war plans. But it's also not about WMD, as the Administration generally claims. They are simply using the threat of WMD linked with emotional fallout of 9-11 as a pretext for their real goal-- regime change.

(Ironically, as I write this, Bush has just introduced a new catchphrase--Weapons of Terror--presumably so that people will make a stronger link between Saddam and terrorism. I guess that makes the U.S. a de-facto terrorist state, because we have the largest stockpiles of these types of "Weapons of Terror." Oh wait, now in one of his answers, he just said our goal is regime change. Oh boy, he agrees with me!)

Now Bush & Co. can't come out and say "hey, we don't like this guy, let's get rid of him," so they have concocted this argument about WMD and how Saddam might link up with terrorists to deliver a devastating blow to the U.S. But how credible is this? Even better, how credible does the Bush administration believe it to be? Let's judge by their actions.

Back in October, the Administration was floating the idea of Saddam going into exile to avoid war--see http://www.aerotechnews.com/starc/2002/100402/iraq_exile.html

Now think about this. If Saddam were allowed to leave Iraq, he'd have lots of money, plenty of WMD info & technology, and could easily abscond with the several of the mobile bioweapons labs that the Administration contends he has (since no one's found them, who's to say they're not in a neighboring country awaiting his arrival?).

Does this DECREASE the threat of terrorists getting WMD? No. It makes Saddam into another Osama--a guy with a lot of money, a chip on his shoulder against the U.S., and no convenient return address. And how would Saddam support himself? Why, how about helping other terrorists gain WMD?

Clearly, allowing Saddam to go into exile would not prevent him from hooking up his WMD assets with terrorists. Then why would Administration even suggest it? The only rational answer is that they don't believe it's a significant threat--that they themselves don't believe in the whole WMD+terrorists premise that they've been feeding Americans.

Why is it important that the Bush Administration be truthful? Because the only reason anyone in this country believes Iraq is an imminent threat is because the White House says it is (no one here has suffered from Iraqi aggression in the last decade--remember not even the White House claims Saddam perpetrated 9-11). And if that threat is a fabrication or exaggeration, then there is no cause (or public support) for war.

I strongly suggest you read the Kamel transcript ( http://www.fair.org/press-releases/kamel.pdf ), so that you have a better idea of the information the Administration has about Iraq's WMD stockpiles. You may want to also check out what former Marine and weapons inspector Scott Ritter has to say, a sample of which at http://www.commondreams.org/views02/0721-02.htm

And as another example of the level of honesty (or perhaps credulity) emanating from the White House, I'll leave you with a recent Ari Fleischer quote: "... But think about the implications of what you're saying. You're saying that the leaders of other nations are buyable. And that is not an acceptable proposition. "

For full transcript of this press conference, see http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/02/20030225-9.html or if you want to watch Ari get laughed at on video, try http://video.c-span.org:8080/ramgen/edrive/iraq022503_whpb.rm?start=28:10

Just read a few post and want to ask a few questions. If this war is all about the oil(many of you think it is) then why didn't we just keep it after the gulf war. I'm sure bush sr. new the value of it as does his son so why do you think we need it now? I think you can drop that as the driving force in the war effort. Give diplomacy a chance you say, i say we have, 12 years worth. This is a war on terror and it's supporters and sadam's at the top of the list. Maybe you think we should take clintons approach and do nothing as the american body count rises(1993 wtc, 200+ marines saudia arabia, 2 embassies thousand dead, american ship 40 dead) I will support george bush who actually has the balls to strike back and show america is not a target. The war is not pointless. Sadam would gladly have you killed and smile afterwards if he had the means. Thankfully he does not. Let's just say you have an enemy who would like nothing more than to see you dead. Only problem is he can't get a ride to your house or afford a bus ticket. Now here's the choice do you A) wait to see if he can get to you and accomplish his goal or b) put him down like a rabid animal before he get's the chance. He goes down in my book. I will not live life waiting for the building i'm in or the bus i'm on to blow the fuck up. This ends now. And guess what, it doesn't end here. after sadam is dispatched we go to get the rest, so look forward to a life of useless conscientious objecting. Don't worry i'll help to make sure your kids won't have to go through another 9-11. Do me a small favor though and don't fill their head with your foolishness.
ps. if you don't want this war tell me how to end all thiis aggression. How would you o-enlightened one prevent people like sadam from building weapons for your demise. Love him to death maybe? good luck

And how do we tap into the ionosphere? Thats is an interesting concept but I dont see a practical solution.
By the way, the worlds energy (DEMAND) is approching the 10 terawatt range !

Energy in the ionosphere.
More than enough, although there are problems with resonance
resulting from current flow near the poles, but well within the abilities of control. A conductive pathway may be produced by several methods, lasers being the most current

Now Im not to quick to discredit the Lazer conduit in ionosphere consept but , Isnt the lazer only about 3% effient in its energy consumption? and would'nt the power supply for these lazers come from fossil fuel generators ?
Now dont confuse me with ultra right wingers> I am pollution aware . I was active in school too.

agree on it.

We think that in America your government and agencies lobby mass media,
so many american people don't understand the complete truth .

Bush argumentation to mantain the necessity of a war against Iraq :

1)Saddam is a criminal,he supports terrorists and crushes any oppositor on
his country

< ok! It's true. But many other dictators in the world make the same things.
why Saddam ,only Saddam must be punished?>

2)Saddam hides weapons of mass destruction and he wants use them against America
and American's friends and allies.

is based on drawings and satelitte's pictures,it seems to be non more than suppositions>

3)Saddam is an able gambler,he wants take time .His real target is to split the world
pubblic opinion in american's friends or american's enemies. The destruction of a little
part of his weapon is a tactical motion. One missile he destroys publicly,
while ten he hides secretly.

Government wants punish Saddam without ONU agreement. We think that ONU agreement is
necessary to make war,so the world diplomatic and economic relations shall be safe.>

The real situation of america's economy is the RECESSION !
< public debt amount $ 6,500,000,000,000-large part of population lives miserely :
without a medical insurance -pubblic schools are fatiscent -road , railways, bridges need
reparation works -US national crude oil reserve decreased 20% -giant enterprises (enron
for example)miserely failed with scandals of any tipes -1% of american population is rich
and his capital is equal to 40% of the population thet instead is in poor situation->

Bush administration destined for armament $ 355,000,000,000 while Danny Ross
,a child, need a transplant that his family cannot pay !!!

USA burns 25 % of world's oil annual production and depend for 60% of this consumption
from midlle east importations.

The control of iraqui oilfield (the second world's oil productor)can push away the recession.

Actually only european, russian, and chinese oil companies have trade agreement with iraq.

With iraq's military quest U.S. oil companies will replace their competitors
and so can drive the economic situation of Europe and Asia .

Oil will run out ! Other countries will develop alternative energy fonts, like hydrogen.>

Dear American government this is the real reason of war,YOUR WAR!

so many american people don't understand the complete truth .

- the left lobbies them to as does sadam and the evil people of the world - of course they loby awfully mroe agressively (say this or you die) than the US does

1)Saddam is a criminal,he supports terrorists and crushes any oppositor on

< ok! It's true. But many other dictators in the world make the same things.
why Saddam ,only Saddam must be punished?>

2)Saddam hides weapons of mass destruction and he wants use them against America

is based on drawings and satelitte's pictures,it seems to be non more than suppositions>

-- It is never possible to have absolute proof that is why the justice system has a condition called "beyond resonable doubt as opposed to "with photos of the murder with the murder standing in the frame smiling"
also you would not get on the jury because you are predjudiced so your opinion on this is meaningless

-- under what situation will the UN provide world security? For example if another Nazi reigeme and an Axis forms wont the UN almost by definition be unable to form a resolution on the security council? There fore dont we need another type of UN?

The real situation of america's economy is the RECESSION !

-- How does the war help with the recession??? i thought it causes recession.

USA burns 25 % of world's oil annual production and depend for 60% of this consumption
from midlle east importations.

-- how does the war help with oil supply it destroys oil supply!

The control of iraqui oilfield (the second world's oil productor)can push away the recession.

-- but it wont be able to produce much oil straight after its defeated.. anyway US could ask them for their oil now in return for lifting sanctions.

Actually only european, russian, and chinese oil companies have trade agreement with iraq.

-- are you suggesting that the us will gain control of oil fields and artificially inflate oil prices in the rest of the world so as to make prices in the USA cheep through iraq? Arent you confusing the USA with OPEC?
Unlike france the USA doesnt own its oil companies and they will sell it wherever it makes them the most money. anyway price differentials would be unsustainable even if the companies wanted them. You are confusing the "price of oil" with the "traders of oil"
Also Bush would have guaranteed these contracts if the countries had supported him .
However since the french for example do own their oil company the US has a great opportunity to screw them. possibly its the same with russia and china.

Oil will run out ! Other countries will develop alternative energy fonts, like hydrogen.>

-- other countries like er... USA? - the most developed countries will be most able to develop the new technologies.

General Comment

by General Discharge Monday, Mar. 10, 2003 at 4:45 PM

General comment to those too silly to be objective:

Don’t make the blatantly stupid assumption that if an actor is in a “war movie” that they support war. Some actors, as well as other people employed in and around the entertainment industry, see it simply as a job.
I remember back when O. Stone made "Natural Born Killers" many impressionable types identified with the movie and tried to “live the life” as it were.

It is fair to say that such people are emotionally immature, and are easily swayed. It was disturbing enough to know that individual’s identified with the main characters in a movie that was intended impart to mock our dependency on media. However- thinking that an actor who plays a “tough guy” is thus a “tough guy" in real life is beyond imagination.

France is stupid

by Liberals Suck Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003 at 7:26 AM

Anyone who thinks the war is about oil and the economy is wrong. What is the economic stimulus package Bush has proposed? I would think that that was the thing intended to STIMULATE the economy. Not the war...The liberals are against the package, by the way. Same lame old excuses--it's a tax cut for the rich, which is a flat out lie.
Another thing, if if we were so desperate for oil, wouldn't Bush be proposing the opening of the oil fields in Alaska? I would think that using Alaskan oil would be an easier option than going to Iraq, fighting a war, then getting their oil. This proves that the war isn't about oil. We could get enough oil from there to get us out of recession, but we won't do it again, because the liberals would never agree to anthing Bush proposes. I know, I know. The liberals are going to say that we cannot destroy the environment, but would the rather kill people in Iraq than hurt the environment??? This is their logic, since they believe that everthing Bush does is motivated by oil.

Who said the war had anything to do with the economy?

by POIO Tuesday, Mar. 11, 2003 at 8:09 AM

Who would be so stupid? Obviously Bush doesn't give a shit about the economy. Not even a little.

Also, to presuppose that war is good for the economy is a damn big assumption, especially in light of historical trends and economic common sense. War is bad for the economy and it always has been.

And regarding oil in alaska...well bush has been known to push pretty damn hard for more aggressive alaskan oil drilling. The senate squashed it last april. Guess we can't go bomb alaska so lets bomb iraq. Yeah. Filthy oil mongering godless savages.

Nor have i heard anyone say that they feel bush's only interests are oil. Bush's PRIMARY interests are oil. His other primary interests are making sure he fulfills his part of the bargain to the people that pull his strings regarding tax cuts, lumber regulation, energy generation, etc etc. Oh, and God. Bush is a big ol fan of God Almighty.

And as for 'liberals would rather kill people in iraq than hurt the environment'... where the hell are you getting this crap? To the best of my understanding, those with common sense are opposed to BOTH the wholesale slaughter of innocents AND the pillaging of natural resources for another couple year's worth of SUV juice. And again, not everyone opposed to the war and/or bush is a liberal.

I for one am a huge fan of taking this 50 billion+ dollar war (and thats just in bribes so far) and using those funds to switch over the bulk of our transportation industry away from doomed petro based system in place today. Truckers first, then mass transit, then daily commuters. Those apposed are quick to site the expense and the horribly scary newness of it, but are more than willing to drop billions worth of explosives on some shit-eating desert in the middle of nowhere.

We have other options than being slaves to the oil industry. They may not have as much horsepower (ohh noooo), they may not sound as deep and swarthy when you goose the 'gas', but they will carry us from point A to point B and in the end isn't that all that matters.

Also, I for one am not opposed, at all, to war on iraq. I am opposed to BUSH'S war on iraq. And I'm opposed to Bush establishing a perogative of impudently thumbing his nose at the global community. There is due process for all this and it should be followed. Yes saddam needs dealt with but to do so the way we are now smells, at best, like crusading cowboy vigilante antics. That is the best that what is happening now could possibly be interpretted, and it is unacceptable to me.

Find me a 'Save Saddam' poster somewhere. Surely some liberal somewhere must be waving one around, eh? We all love him so much, or so you'd be led to believe.

The Manhattan Zoo

by Ffutal Wednesday, Mar. 12, 2003 at 1:38 PM

William McGowan, whose book "Coloring the News" is a well regarded treatment of media bias on racial issues. McGowan is a serious guy, so I have to wonder what he was thinking when he agreed to appear on a panel with a trio of nutcases: bilious blogger Eric Alterman, SUV scourge Arianna Huffington and crackpot comedian Janeane Garafalo, who summed up her political views a few weeks back when she told Fox News Channel's Tony Snow, "I just spit."

Editor & Publisher has an account of the Monday panel, which "turned into an animated series of divisive rants on the media's coverage of the Bush administration and Iraq." Alterman claimed that "the right-wing establishment has so much control" over the media "that no one on the left can fight back." He added that talk radio is "less diverse than the press under Stalin's Soviet Union."

Garafalo, for her part, "said she had been ridiculed by the media for her antiwar activism and, clearly, it hurt. She blasted conservative talk show hosts for attempting to marginalize the antiwar movement by focusing almost exclusively on celebrities." Garafalo has made something of a shtick of complaining that the media trivialize the "antiwar" cause by focusing on celebs, but she thus far has refused to take the most obvious corrective action: Shut up already.

Jane Fonda Types, speak from Their Rectum

by Homer Sunday, Mar. 16, 2003 at 8:35 AM

We the undersigned American Citizens stand against Wealthy Hollywood Celebrities abusing their status to speak for us. We do not believe that they have a clear understanding of how we live, what we fear, and what we support. We believe that celebrities Martin Sheen, Mike Farrell, Tim Robbins, Rob Reiner, Barbara Streisand, and others with them are using their celebrity to interfere with the defense of our country. We believe that Hollywood Celebrities use their wealth to make their own personal issues known while Americans would never have the resources to speak out in this manner. We support President Bush in his efforts to defend our homeland, to defend democracy, and to take any measures to end the threat of terrorism. We do not claim to know more than anyone, especially President Bush. We elect a President who we can trust to make proper decisions based on facts available to him and not available to the rest of us. This is one reason trustworthiness and character is important in the people we elect into office. War is not easy, there are many before us who sacrificed their lives for freedom and if supporting citizens in other countries who cry out for democracy and freedom aids in the war against terrorism we support it.

This Statement and its signatures will be published publicly and or delivered to Martin Sheen and Mike Farrell.

Sheepdog needs to go back and study Constitution

by Skinner Sunday, Mar. 16, 2003 at 8:53 AM

I did not vote for Bush, but the Constitution calls for a process called Electoral College where representatives from each state actual do the final voting. This concept is base on representatives from each state voting for the will of the people in their state. This keeps heavily populated states like California and New York from smothering the small states. The large states still get more votes, but not out rages number. In California you should have learned this in the eighth grade, so either you don't live in California, not yet reached the eighth grade or just plain stupid.

Literacy has nothing to do with it, as I said before, it's base on a system that our founding fathers felt would provide fair and balance. It's not base on total number of people, but base on STATES having fair representation. It's true with our technology we should get better results, not based on hanging, dimpled, pregnant chads. No street cred

by John Holmes Friday, Mar. 21, 2003 at 4:54 PM

President George W. Bush: Received a Bachelors Degree from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He served as an F-102 pilot for the Texas Air National Guard. He began his career in the oil and gas business in Midland in 1975 and worked in the energy industry until 1986. He was elected Governor on November 8, 1994, with 53.5 percent of the vote. In a historic re-election victory, he became the first Texas Governor to be elected to consecutive four-year terms on November 3, 1998 winning 68.6 percent of the vote. In 1998 Governor Bush won 49 percent of the Hispanic vote, 27 percent of the African-American vote, 27 percent of Democrats and 65 percent of women. He won more Texas counties, 240 of 254, than any modern Republican other that Richard Nixon in 1972 and is the first Republican gubernatorial candidate to win the heavily Hispanic and Democratic border counties of El Paso, Cameron and Hidalgo. (Someone began circulating a false story about his I.Q. being lower than any other President. If you believed it, you might want to go to URBANLEGENDS.COM and see the truth.)

Vice President Dick Cheney: Earned a B.A. in 1965 and a M.A. in 1966, both in political science. Two years later, he won an American Political Science Association congressional fellowship. One of Vice President Cheney's primary duties is to share with individuals, members of Congress and foreign leaders, President Bush's vision to strengthen our economy, secure our homeland and win the War on Terrorism. In his official role as President of the Senate, Vice President Cheney regularly goes to Capital Hill to meet with Senators and members of the House of Representatives to work on the Administration's legislative goals. In his travels as Vice President, he has seen first hand the great demands the war on terrorism is placing on the men and women of our military, and he is proud of the tremendous job they are doing for the United States of America.

Secretary of State Colin Powell: Was educated in the New York City public schools, graduating from the City College of New York (CCNY), where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in geology. He also participated in ROTC at CCNY and received a commission as an Army second lieutenant upon graduation in June 1958. His further academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University. Secretary Powell is the recipient of numerous U.S. and foreign military awards and decorations. Secretary Powell's civilian awards include two Presidential Medals of Freedom, the President's Citizens Medal, the Congressional Gold Medal, the Secretary of State Distinguished Service Medal, and the Secretary of Energy Distinguished Service Medal. Several schools and other institutions have been named in his honor and he holds honorary degrees from universities and colleges across the country.

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld: Attended Princeton University on Scholarship (AB, 1954) and served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as a Naval aviator ; Congressional Assistant to Rep. Robert Griffin (R-MI), 1957-59; U.S. Representative, Illinois, 1962-69; Assistant to the President, Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity, Director of the Cost of Living Council, 1969-74; U.S. Ambassador to NATO, 1973-74; head of Presidential Transition Team, 1974; Assistant to the President, Director of White House Office of Operations, White House Chief of Staff, 1974-77; Secretary of Defense, 1975-77

Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge: Was raised in a working class family in veterans' public housing in Erie. He earned a scholarship to Harvard, graduating with honors in 1967. After his first year at The Dickinson School of Law, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an infantry staff sergeant in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star for Valor. After returning to Pennsylvania, he earned his Law Degree and was in private practice before becoming Assistant District Attorney in Erie County. He was elected to Congress in 1982. He was the first enlisted Vietnam combat veteran elected to the U.S. House, and was overwhelmingly re-elected six times.

National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice: Earned her Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Denver in 1974; her Master's from the University of Notre Dame in 1975; and her Ph.D. from the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver in 1981. (Note: Rice enrolled at the University of Denver at the age of 15, graduating at 19 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Cum Laude). She earned a Master's Degree at the University of Notre Dame and a Doctorate from the University of Denver's Graduate School of International Studies. Both of her advanced degrees are also in Political Science.) She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has been awarded Honorary Doctorates from Morehouse College in 1991, the University of Alabama in 1994, and the University of Notre Dame in 1995. At Stanford, she has been a member of the Center for International Security and Arms Control, a Senior Fellow of the Institute for International Studies, and a Fellow (by courtesy) of the Hoover Institution. Her books include Germany Unified and Europe Transformed (1995) with Philip Zelikow, The Gorbachev Era (1986) with Alexander Dallin, and Uncertain Allegiance: The Soviet Union and the Czechoslovak Army (1984). She also has written numerous articles on Soviet and East European foreign and defense policy, and has addressed audiences in settings ranging from the U.S. Ambassador's Residence in Moscow to the Commonwealth Club to the 1992 and 2000 Republican National Conventions. From 1989 through March 1991, the period of German reunification and the final days of the Soviet Union, she served in the Bush Administration as Director, and then Senior Director, of Soviet and East European Affairs in the National Security Council, and a Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs. In 1986, while an international affairs fellow of the Council on Foreign Relations, she served as Special Assistant to the Director of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. In 1997, she served on the Federal Advisory Committee on Gender -- Integrated Training in the Military. She was a member of the boards of directors for the Chevron Corporation, the Charles Schwab Corporation, the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the University of Notre Dame, the International Advisory Council of J.P. Morgan and the San Francisco Symphony Board of Governors. She was a Founding Board member of the Center for a New Generation, an educational support fund for schools in East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park, California and was Vice President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula. In addition, her past board service has encompassed such organizations as Transamerica Corporation, Hewlett Packard, the Carnegie Corporation, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, The Rand Corporation, the National Council for Soviet and East European Studies, the Mid-Peninsula Urban Coalition and KQED, public broadcasting for San Francisco. War in Iraq

by John Laws Friday, Mar. 21, 2003 at 5:32 PM
kikurass@hell no no

I think it’s about f*$@!#k time you turkey brains realised that you are not helping anyone or anything because you know so little about the situation or you blow it out of proportion. You look at the media and only see one side to everything. I, like most normal people are against war if there is no other way out but However, Bush has proved that even if the Iraqis don’t have weapons of mass destruction they are still guilty of a multitude of crimes against humanity in the past. Countries like France sit on their arses all day too timid to get out there and fight for Iraq’s freedom because they believe appeasement is a justified way out of all this. Do you know you protesters spend more time complaining and winging like little sparrows than actually coming up with a solution. Well all I can say to you protestors is to grow up, grow a brain and get a life!

USA Bombs The World

by Allison100 Monday, Mar. 24, 2003 at 6:27 AM
codenameallison@palestinemail.com

John Laws: However, Bush has proved that even if the Iraqis don’t have weapons of mass destruction they are still guilty of a multitude of crimes against humanity in the past.

So it's right to kill them because of crimes in the past? That's just stupid.

Countries like France sit on their arses all day too timid to get out there and fight for Iraq’s freedom

Fight for Iraq's freedom? Why it has to be done with cruise missales and heavy bombers? There would have been a peaceful way - way with no blood. USA was just too eager to pull the trigger.

Do you know you protesters spend more time complaining and winging like little sparrows than actually coming up with a solution

I think nearly all protesters think that there could have been a peaceful way - you know, when people talk to each other about their common problems. If you disagree with someone about something, you propably take your gun and kill him. I don't approve that method. It's method with no brains.

Your ingenious and witty solution is to blast the hell out of Iraqis and kill Saddam Hussein. Do you know - that is kind of ancient method. People in Middle Ages did that. It's not very wise method.

Any how, George W. Bush & Tony Blair will be procecuted about their war crimes after the war. I'm just sorry about those people who they have killed so far. Allison Finland

truth

by Daniel S. Friday, Mar. 28, 2003 at 10:13 PM

The reasons we are in this meaningless war is clear. Little Bush can not hear no for an answer. When we was turned down at U.N. he took it on g himself and his puppet T.Blair and so called coalition. Come on, what coalition. Angola, Guinea, Georgia, Azerbaijan. Most of those eastern European countries are just pissed of at Russia; therefore they will always be kissing up to U.S.
The “Operation Iraqi Freedom”. Freedom from what? Did they had poll in Iraq? Those Iraqi’s are dying because they are defending their homes from infidels. First, W. Idiot Bushes cabinet should have done a better homework on the middle east before actually invade a country. How are we different from Germany of 1939. They have invaded Poland, for greater Germany, we are doing it for “Democracy”. Come on, how many democratic Arab countries there are? Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar, are monarchies and Pakistan has a military dictator (with nuclear arsenal that was never approved by U.N.).
The moron in the White House wanted this war even before he became a president, and before 9/11. We should avenge 9/11 by bankrupting the Saudis that paid for the 9/11.
And 12 of 15 terrorists were Saudis. Osama- Saudi national. Because W. Moron. Junior is in bed with Saudis, he needs another scapegoat. Guess what, Sadam is a bad dictator, and is the best scapegoat.
To supporters of fictitiously elected president (coke addict, alcoholic, Cheer leader), the blood out our troops along with innocent Iraqis in on him.

I will never watch any film or television show with Martin Sheen in it again. I have lost all respect for him. It is easy for the rich living in fantasy land to speack out for us common people. Those of us that live in reality every day have to make real decisions about the world around us.

I hope many people stop watching all the Hollywood phonies and let them suffer for their actions.

To all of you who earn more than one million per year, would you show your support to our soldiers, police, and firemen, by giving 10% of your wages to the people who put their lives on the line everyday to protect yours? What about the wife, husband or children of those who die while on duty protecting your life?

We don't need any form of entertainment, but we do need our protectors. Let's hit them where it hurts and boycot entertainment. Maybe prices will drop to where common people of America can afford a little more. And maybe the big bucks people will come back to reality. Well, an AmericanGal can dream can't she!

Thank you, to all the persons who help keep us safe. I know you do all that you can.

Get Off...your high horses

by ANTI-Hollywood Friday, Apr. 11, 2003 at 1:03 PM

Whether you like Rush Limbaugh or not, this is worth reading!

By Rush Limbaugh

I think the vast differences in compensation between the victims of the September 11th casualty, and those who die serving the country in uniform, are profound. No one is really talking about it either because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11th.

Well, I just can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country.

If you lost a family member in the September 11th attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable. Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people that are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough.

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11th families are getting. In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you?

Folks, this is part and parcel of over fifty years of entitlement politics in this country. It's just really sad.

Every time when a pay raise comes up for the military they usually receive next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low rent housing.

However our own U.S. Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one-time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month and most are now equal to be millionaires plus. They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7 you may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed you in harms way receive a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

"When do we finally do something about this ??"

If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many people as you can.

-------
I would also like to see Hollywood give to our persons who are now fighting. AH

His first stage experience was with the Margo Jones Theatre-in-the-Round in Dallas. Now this is from George W Bush's Web Site (http://www.whitehouse.gov/president/gwbbio.html) "He received a bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1968, then served as an F-102 fighter pilot in the Texas Air National Guard. Also don't forget to add the "African American" (but wasn't he born in the USA? so, wouldn't it be POLITICALLY CORRECT to say AMERICAN African?) Danny Glover, who, conveniently uses the phrase that Bush is RACIST?!? Where the hell does he get that from? Seems like when the individuals of another race have nothing else to bitch or accuse someone for than it is right to say their racist. Shit-damn idiot! What a copout for a reason to scream...Sounds like something dear ole "REV" Jesse J. would spout. Guess they forget all the "honkeys" who STARTED the Underground Railroad, helped GIVE them the chance to OWN property, BELONG to communities and be part of society once in free territory. They have since become Respected, Wealthy members of society, ie: mayors, governors, statesmen, congressmen, judges, lawyers, police, doctors.....the list is ENDLESS..now go back in time and see where the NATIVE AMERICAN is in retrospect! Don't forget the BUFFALO SOLDIERS waged war against them along side the whites..so who is the one shown the most racisism? The biggest joke is when it is stated that the Indians have the Casino's....o.k......BUT WHERE DID THE FUNDING AND KNOWLEDGE FOR THEM COME FROM????? Hmmmmmmmmm, maybe the mafia???? Seems to me they have a big part in the creation of Las Vegas too... For all the big mouth "African Americans" who keep puking out the same shit about racisism, go back to Africa and see how bad they treat each other there and it's black man against black man!!!! Go figure! I for one am sick and tired of the two-faced assholes, black and white who find nothing but b.s. to bitch about while they have more money than they know what to do with (course, do they ever spend much on their "brothers and sisters"? or others?). Let them live like the rest of us and see what the REAL WORLD is truly like. PLUS, try and remember 9-11...it wasn't JUST the Trade Towers, it was ALSO the PENETAGON and a rural field where INNOCENT AMERICANS lost their lives....THAT IS TO ME AN ATTACK ON MY HOMELAND!!!!! For Suzie S..and Timmie R.... what did Iraq do to us???? Guess they weren't here when all that took place, musta been in Neverland with the "gloved one"....pretending to be someone important.
Free speech is one thing my daughter and son-in-law are over in Iraq providing people like the Hollywood idiots.....too bad they didn't have to help with the cleanup to see what "nice guys" like Saddam have created for the world...
Also too bad that the Hollywood Idiots didn't have to live in the real world...

Repeat after me: IRAQ HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 911.

Repeat as many times as it takes to get it through that thick head of yours.

Prove that he DID.

Prove that he DID.

No, you can't use Dubya as a reference.

The burden of proof is on YOU.

Even as we speak there are people looking for and finding evidence.

The facts that:
1. It's not happening fast enough to suit you, and

2. You won't accept what they find anyway

are just something you're going to have to get over.

"pointless war"?

by Go Bush Friday, Apr. 25, 2003 at 7:45 PM

You say our men and women are dying in a pointless war? After 9/11, did President Bush not say that we would fight terrorism at any cost? If you want to kid yourself into thinking that Saddam is a sweet man and poses no threat to anyone, that is fine. Ask the Shiites or the Kurds how sweet and precious he is. He admits hating America and Americans. Anyway, besides all that, about the terrorism thing; Saddam and his regime have supported, funded and praised terrorism. This doesnt mean that he and Osama are best buddies necessarily. However, there is solid evidence that Saddam is involved with terrorism. Hmmm, why are we over there? I could give you several reasons backed by evidence. But it would not make a difference in your bizarre opinions. I wish that we had not gone to war to. I wish that Bush would have listened to the majority of idiots that post their messages here and just left Iraq alone. I then wish that one of Saddams followers would make a terrorist attack and you or your family or friend be injured or killed. Or better yet, I wish a nuke would be dropped on the US. I live in NC and I am willing to let the Nuke be dropped on my area. I would not mind dying that way if it meant you people had to eat your words and say, " man, Bush was right".

I E-mailed Martin Sheen and the idiot replied! Not only is he anti-Bush/anti-America, he can not spell the most basic of words. He rambles and then curses you out when you disagree with him! (Does this sound like an enlightened individual with Liberal views?)

He is an uneducated, arrogant, self promoting moron. See for yourself in his AOL profile under air allie 3.
