Infoshop.org is a family friendly web site. We believe in human rights for all people, regardless of age, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, or political belief. Maybe that needs changing to,'abandon hope all ye who enter here.'

Infoshop is often linked to from Indy stories and is run by well known and liked,DC local, the Reverend ChuckO.
It is sad to report a coverup in progress from him.
The way sites like this and Infoshop are run is vital to the healthy communications of our communities. To ask for and expect high standards of transparancy and accountability is only fair as the truest and best communications happen between equals IMO.
Covering for errors is foolish in at least two ways.It angers the person(s) injured by the mistake and it provides ammunition to the lurkers of the State and fascism that seek to bring us down.It carries grave risks as well for future operations where the precedent exists for arbitrary actions and where the potential exists for distraction and sabotage in a crisis. We are all familiar with CoinTelPro standard operating procedure.
This story of arbitrary abuse of power is offered here due to the importance of best practise open and honest communications and should be left alone,or if removed an explanation proffered. Some things should not be allowed to fester.Thank you.

The Reverend ChuckO published this at infoshop interactive news.

Campesinos Attack the Mexican Congress

Campesinos Attack the Mexican Congress
by Hector Carreon

La Voz de Aztlan

Tenochtitlan - December 11, 2002 - (ACN) Rivaling the crisis in Venezuela and Argentina, thousands of well organized campesinos (agricultural workers) stormed and broke into the Mexican Congress yesterday forcing many of the congressmen to run for their lives and attempt to climb over the security fence surrounding the Palacio Legislativo de San Lazaro. The campesinos are in extreme desperation because of the worsening conditions in the agricultural sectors of Mexico and the lack of forthcoming solutions by the legislature.

Some comments including this extract...

"...I know there have been efforts to link up anarchists south of the border with anarchists in the USA. If any kind of revolt breaks out, it would behoove us to help it spread and then take part in it ourselves if it came our way..."

I made a comment beginning...

By all means establish contacts with mexican anarchists, just watch out for the mexican nazi's.
I briefly described a run in I had with the authors of the main article.
I then made another comment leaving a couple of links to pages on the authors site that led to my original trouble with them.

Both these comments were polite, restrained and compact, yet they were not long for this world, being totally removed. No removal notice was left and soon after this came up...

Chuck, you just wrote a piece on the machinations of nazis on Indymedia. La Voz de Aztlan has printed the Protocols of the Elders of Zion on their website. They are bad news. They are, to use some of your local anarchist parlance, "Third Positionists." They're just not white.
Word the wise: Read their site and then remove this post.

This was backed up by an anonymous comment describing the authors site as looking very Third Positionist.(though not white!?)

I came back and left three comments on what just happened and some thoughts as to why,(available on request.)The entire page was then taken down without explanation.
Recently ChuckO had this to say...

"...Some of you may have caught my first article on the state of the Indymedia movement titled "The Sad Decline of Indymedia". I threw this essay together on Sunday, after an activist friend told me about how Jewish activists in New York City were really upset that IMC websites (esp. IMC NYC) were becoming plagued by anti-semitic and racist content..."FROM...

http://chuck.mahost.org/weblog/index.php

"...Others have gotten wrapped up in the insane idea that I want to censor and control Indymedia..."

"...how dysfunctional and irresponsible activist movements are these days. These people can't address the serious concerns that Jewish activists and people of color who support IMC have..."

The censor and control mention resonates because of this exchange...

Next time some pro-America idiot babbles on to you about how America is great because it allows free speech, just bring up cases like this which demonstrate that free speech can't exist when corporations can control what you say.

Next time some pro-infoshop idiot babbles on about how great free speech is here,I'll send them the case of,"When campesino's attack."
Thanks Reverend,thanks a hell of a lot.

Hey dude, I removed that story. Isn't that what you wanted?

pr writes on Friday December 13 2002 @ 10:07AM PST: [ reply | parent ]
No,I don't tell you what to publish,I just wanted my warning comments left alone as they were brief, had supporting URLs and were respectful. Now I have just written to you to see what happened to those comments as 'burningasshole' had to then come along and post the same warning. I liked the story and stories like that, thats why I come here.
