Bush is a moron, says Chretien aide

by Joe Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at 11:27 PM

PRESIDENT BUSH was called a moron by the Canadian Prime Minister’s spokeswoman in an unguarded remark at the Nato summit.

Bush is a moron, says Chretien aide
From Richard Cleroux in Ottawa

PRESIDENT BUSH was called a moron by the Canadian Prime Minister’s spokeswoman in an unguarded remark at the Nato summit.
Françoise Ducros, who has a reputation for acerbic off the record comments, was heard by two reporters on Wednesday to say “what a moron” after Mr Bush called on Nato countries to spend more on defence.

Jean Chrétien, the Prime Minister, sought immediately to repair damage with Washington, saying on television: “He is not a moron. He is my friend.” Mr Chrétien said that he had declined an offer by Ms Ducros to resign.

The remark was evidence of tension between the United States and Canada, which has offered less than wholehearted support for Washington’s campaign against Iraq.

The President may have been speaking in general terms about defence spending, but Mr Chrétien’s delegation saw his remarks as a veiled reference to Canada. John McCallum, the Defence Minister, had on the same day said that Canada would decide for itself how much to spend and rejected pressure by the US Ambassador in Ottawa to buy six US-made transport jets at £100 million each.

Ms Ducros’s remark was largely ignored in the United States. It was mentioned briefly in The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and was treated humorously on a CNN talk show.

Ari Fleischer, President Bush’s spokesman, said at the summit in Prague that the comment came from “somebody who obviously doesn’t speak for the Canadian Government”.

Ms Ducros does speak for the Canadian Government, however, although her briefings to reporters are usually off the record. Her remark reflects the view of Canadians who do not regard Mr Bush as the equal of Bill Clinton or Tony Blair.

Canadians like to laugh at Americans and poke fun at their President. A television show, Talking to Americans, is very popular. People chosen at random on the streets of American cities are asked questions about Canada and are shown to know next to nothing about the country.

The show interviewed Mr Bush in Michigan two years ago while he was campaigning for the presidency and got him to praise “Mr Putin” as the Prime Minister of Canada.

Government officials in Ottawa, who on Wednesday were distributing photographs of Mr Bush and Mr Chrétien smiling and talking together, were taken by surprise by Ms Ducros’s comment.

A member of Mr Chrétien’s entourage in Prague said of the Prime Minister’s apology on television for the remark: “It’s not what we call a ‘win-win’ situation in the best of times.”

by Squinky Dink Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002 at 10:20 AM

In Talking to Americans, satirist Rick Mercer told "the moron" that Prime Minister Jean Poutine endorsed his presidential candidacy. That Bush evidently took it as a compliment showed how paltry his knowledge of Canada was/is. (Our real Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, is a buffoon in his own right -- but is not nearly as dangerous as the moron in the White House.) "Poutine" -- which doesn't sound much like Chretien -- is a popular junk food in Quebec. It consists of French fries and cheese curds smothered in rich brown gravy.

Would you Leftists please make up your mind? Is President Bush a moron or is he the sinister mastermind of the 'war for oil'? If he's so freaking dumb, how come Al Gore didn't win the election? Well, that must be because he's an evil genius! No, he's really really stupid. And a drug-user. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Except for Republicans. Evil, duplicitious Republicans. So sneaky. So wily. Wait, no, they are stupid. Yes, stupid.

It's a wonder why you guys keep getting your asses kicked come election time.

"Ahem, Gore did win."

by electorial college Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at 6:13 AM

No he didn't. The electorial college. The electorial college. How many times you gotta be reminded? And thank goodness for the electorial college. Did you see that red and blue map showing which counties voted for whom? Almost all the Gore votes came from the big cities. Those of us who live in the countryside overwhelmingly voted for Bush. Without the electorial college, it would allow a bunch of uninformed city-dwellers to dictate to the rest of us how this country should be run. That wouldn't be right. Small town Americans and those who live in the country are the backbone of this country, not a bunch of leftist that congregate in cities. In fact, we're getting tired of the big cities trying to tell us how to live our lives. If you want to vote in idiots to run your big cities, fine. But in statewide and national elections, city dwellers should be more responsible when they vote. Too often they are not. Voting for Gore or Nader was irresponsible. Did you vote for either of these? If so, why are you among the irresponsible?

bush-moron

by einstein Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at 2:38 AM

My seemingly conservative urban economics professor recently bristled at one of my comments during class the other day (before reports of the "moron" comment circulated). I said something to the affect of 'Bush's intelligence is questionable'. Prof said, "Well, people always complain that Bush is dumb, but his policies have perhaps vindicated him..." I was quietly shocked. But then, the more I thought about it - over the past few days - the more I realized that maybe GW isn't so 'dumb': he knows his right-wing ideology to a tee, and he knows what it takes to get it institutionalized. He's probably not so dumb afterall; just a dickhead.

So, you are saying geographic area trumps population (when you say "look at the red and blue on the county maps")? What justifies that?

If 4 people and 100 cows in Podunk county TX voted for Bush, that's more important than, say, NYC? Give me a break!

As someone else pointed out on the board, he's just a puppet, like one of those child kings of old, whose courtiers ran the empire. So, as long as he is not allowed to go "off script," we can contain the damage Just don't let him talk and think for himself--take cover!

by Ragin Canadian Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 at 9:55 PM

I don't get the whole "I HATE (Democrats/Republicans)" thing you guys have going down there. Is it not obvious that they're the same party and the same people just pretending to argue with eachother to distract you while they steal your money? Have you not noticed that those parties will argue entirely different sides during election, and then act almost exactly the same while in office? And you guys all fall for it? In most countries that are actually free, unlike the US, there are several parties that are forced to actually represent someone's beliefs in order to be elected. Many of you laugh at the Green Party, but in many countries in the EU, including Germany, Vice Presidents are Green Party members in coalition governments. If you ever actually watch Talking to Americans, you'll see why I don't find it surprising that most of you wouldn't know that. Every American I've had watch that show has been too embarassed to ever tout that patriotic bullshit again. I can't wait until the EU takes over as the superpower, you guys have done a disgraceful job.

PS Not that he's much better, but Gore did win the election. Buchanan had two or three times the votes in Florida than anywhere else. With those votes Gore would have taken Florida, but the Supreme Court shut down the recount. And, if you had runoff elections, like France and other major powers, Gore would have gotten most of Nader's votes and won in your out dated electoral college system that no one uses anymore. WATCH TALKING TO AMERICANS!!!

On Canada am this morning, there was an interview with Pat Buchanan. He dared to call us whiners, for trying to defend ourselves. But who is really the whiners that have been carrying on about this for almost two weeks. Maybe Canadians are getting fed up with being the American's puppets. Did you know that Canada has to satisfy America's oil, water, and power needs before it satisfies our own?
And why is Canada supporting America half-heartedly in this whole Iraq thing? Maybe we can see his true motives. He is just after the oil, nothing more. Now that the UN inspectors are going in, and Saddam is cooperating, what excuse is Bush going to come up with now to get ahold of Iraq's oil? It is going to be interesting.

Who's ever accused the moron of being a mastermind, Simple? I've NEVER heard that one.

He won the election not because he's "not a moron" but because he's greedy. A little bit of money for an oil baron goes a long way to get some gun-totin' drinking buddies to mess up a few poll stations for you. I'm sure if enough money is involved and you know the right people to talk to, rigging an election isn't that hard -- after all, even a moron can tell some thugs to threaten people. With an entire country's resources at his fingertips, even a moron CAN be a president. But, with even an entire country's resources at his hands, he is unable to learn any social grace required to provide a sense of stability to his country. He's a freeloading fratboy who's never contributed a single day's work to society -- look at his hands and see how often he examines his hands and almost even preens them and admires them -- he's gleeming with pride of how flawless his hands are. And on top of that, he's a draft dodger. He's spent no time in the military.

He shames America because he has absolutely no consideration for the views of other people -- he doesn't represent you or me ... he represents that 2% elite, the "aristocracy" ... he is not in the working class and doesn't give a toot if you have a roof over your head or if you've been laid off because the economy sucks and the government is going around fighting in some god-forsaken war that looks like it'll turn into another bloody Vietnam-type of war. You publicly praise him now, Simple but he will turn on your class, too, if it means some chance of profit for him. He is not dangerous because he's a "mastermind" -- he's dangerous because he's not very bright and can't see the world from a point of view past his own nose AND he's got his trigger-happy finger on some VERY big triggers and doing his rounds picking some moralistically wrong fights with other governments and people.

Q:Canada Sucks?

by A:Not by American Standards Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at 5:15 PM

"Canada Sucks" - very intricate comment
Canada has been the most desirable country to live in based on the UN Human Development Report for six years in the last ten, and was 2nd or 3rd every other year. We have better levels of health, education, life expectancy, birth mortality, etc, etc, almost every category observed to determine the standard of living in a nation than almost every country in the world. In short, we are better at taking care of our own and pretty good at taking care of others too. But we still pollute badly, waste energy, support a lot of bad policies, but at least we're changing. 93 countries have ratified it and 160 intend to, yet the US won't.

Found this:
In order for the treaty to take effect, the countries ratifying it must account for at least 55% of carbon dioxide emissions. At this time, the countries that have ratified it account for 37.1% of carbon dioxide emissions. If the United States ratifies the Protocol, the percentage rate would skyrocket to 73.2%.

You guys signed it, now your backing out. You expect 3rd world countries to pay back loans agreed to by leaders the DIDN'T VOTE FOR, but you won't even stick to an agreement your elected leaders signed. The rest of the world doesn't give a shit if he was "Democrat" or "Republican", you're all Americans to us and obviously don't live up to your word. Canada is better but still exploitative, but at least we aren't spineless and have the guts to change.

Canada sucks because it's full of people who can't get through the day without bringing up Canada. The national inferiority complex they have for America borders on the pathological.

Much like Europe, Canada has benefitted from the protection of the US military for the last 50 some years. Due to the fact that their government didn't have to spend any treasure on defense, one would assume that Canada would have very low taxes. But no. Bureaucrats and Leftists wouldn't dream of not spending money, so they spent themselves into a hole providing every Socialist benefit imaginable to everyone.

And why do they call themselves Canadians? Is their country called Canadia? Or Canada?

Why does the rest of the world accept that shuffleboard is a game for retirees to play on cruise ships, yet Canada calls it 'curling' and makes it a team sport played on ice? And how come the guy sliding the iron just doesn't push it a little harder so he won't need those two sweepers?

How come there are so many doughnut shops in Canada?

How come there's a Canadian Football League? How come they only have 3 downs, the field is 120 yards long and wider too?

How come all the Canadian hockey teams are moving to jerkwaters in America?

Answer: Canada Sucks.

How come?

by a fragment of cosmos Wednesday, Dec. 04, 2002 at 4:18 PM

How come you;re so full of hatred for your fellow huamns, SImple Simon?

Did it ever occur to you that the words "politics" and "polite" have the same origin?
=========================================

We succeeded in taking that picture [from deep space], and, if you look at it, you see a dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever lived, lived out their lives. The aggregate of all our joys and sufferings, thousands of confident religions, ideologies and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilizations, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every hopeful child, every mother and father, every inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every superstar, every supreme leader, every saint and sinner in the history of our species, lived there on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

The earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that in glory and in triumph they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of the dot on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of the dot. How frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds. Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this point of pale light.

Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity -- in all this vastness -- there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. It is up to us. It's been said that astronomy is a humbling, and I might add, a character-building experience. To my mind, there is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world. To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly and compassionately with one another and to preserve and cherish that pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

Canadians Do It Better

by Not Simon the patriotic nutcase Thursday, Dec. 05, 2002 at 7:39 AM

Americans spend FAR more time worried about themselves than any other country, especially Canada. Watch our global news, it's actually GLOBAL NEWS, not things that happened in America or things that might affect America. Canada is currently running surplus while the States is running a deficit. Most of our debt is to ourselves through Canada savings bonds. Those higher taxes go to cheaper education and universal healthcare. It's always nice to NOT DIE because you can't afford insurance or some clause leaves you uncovered. Canada doesn't need a big military because it knows that the US has big problems with the military-industrial complex(your leaders have a military budget bigger than the rest of the world combined in order to line their own pockets and those of their friends) and we know its in US best interests to protect us, so we're SMART, we use you to our advantage. If the US had 1/4 of the military it does, NATO coalitions could combine to defend against any enemy today, except THERE ARE NO ENEMIES that require giant militaries!!! Any war that required full military might would degenerate into nuclear war anyways, so what's the point?

Ouch, hitting us in the donut shop and curling culture, I thought this was a discussion of politics.

It's Simple people like you that are gonna drive the decline of your screwed up country.

Land of opportunity

by Ragin Canadian Saturday, Dec. 07, 2002 at 2:07 PM

Come to America, Land of opportunity!!! Enjoy the opportunity to...

be put in jail for years for the possession of marijuana!!(it's a fine in the rest of democracy!
be denied healthcare if born with a disease!!!!
pay for a shitty education!!!
(Free in Europe, hundreds of thousands of dollars in the states, go ask academics whose schools are better)
be ruled over by a tag team monarchy!!!!!
be denied entry at the border based on a comprehensive screening process like... place of birth!!!
breath some of the most polluted air on the planet!!!
pay taxes so that military leaders and weapon developers can get rich!!!!
get shot by a total stranger!!!

In the states, if you don't start with money it is EXTREMELY hard to make it... in other countries, like Canada, but especially Sweden, Norway, Australia, France, it's much easier because you can be educated and don't have to spend all day working your ass off to pay for the health insurance!!!! This may shock you, but people that DON'T LIVE IN THE US have INVENTED NEW PRODUCTS and MADE MONEY!!! WOW!!!!

Americans are told that they live in the land of freedom and opportunity. The big joke is that almost every other democratic/industrialized nation (and there's quite a few of em) allows for MORE FREEDOM and GREATER OPPORTUNITY!!!!

Simple

by Simple Simon Saturday, Dec. 07, 2002 at 2:22 PM

Come to Canadia, Land of endless boredom!!! Enjoy the opportunity to…

Consume drugs and not fear prosecution. C’mon all the cool kids are doing it!
Wait so long for medical care that you die!
Get a great education which teaches you that you will give almost all of your earnings to the government so you better move to America!
Be ruled over by a bunch of people who WANT to be French!
Be allowed to enter the country even if you are a violent terrorist with intentions of killing. Just as long as you’re headed south, eh?
Breathe some of the best air on the planet. Strange that America has such polluted air, yet Canadia’s is so clean. You guys got some big ass fans to keep out the pollution?
Pay almost all of your earnings in taxes to a government that provides no defense, and relies on America to transport what’s left of it’s shitty army to places around the world.
Get shot by a relative! Because we’re all related to each other!

In America, nobody makes any money. That’s why 90 + % of the worlds millionaires live there. And they all inherited it all. In other countries like Sweden, Norway, Australia, France they make all kinds of stuff and bundles of money. Mostly off of American tourists.

Nowhere on Earth offers more freedom and opportunity than the United States. Nowhere on Earth is more mind-numbingly boring than Canadia (outside of Quebec, which is pretty cool, and British Columbia, but that’s beside the point.)

HAHAHAHA!!!

by Ragin Canadian Sunday, Dec. 08, 2002 at 6:48 AM

Well, Simple, I do live in BC, so I guess I'm cool then. Give me a good reason my cigarettes and alcohol should be legal, and not marijuana. (btw, it's kinda more fun when u can drink at 18 and not 21). As for the cool kids doing drugs, at least we have some explanation for why you all seem to think Bush is cool, it's the drugs! My high school in Toronto was extremely multiracial, about 50% white 30% Asian, 20% Arab and 10% Black and ALL CANADIAN. Most high schools in the city were the same. Yet we're all related apparently, funny how that works, I think you're getting mistaken with most of the US, which is heavily segregated. You are right, our air quality is Canada isn't great, but we're fixing it unlike your country, and I don't think Canada is the best country in the world, I'm just trying to show your uninformed ass that we run things better than you do. Our higher taxes equal a higher standard of living. We don't pay for things we don't need, like a giant military to fight non existent wars. You guys have the a larger military budget than the rest of the world combined but 3,000 of you still got killed. That doesn't happen to Canada or most other countries, you know why??? WE DON'T GO AROUND PISSING EVERYONE OFF!!! When the rest of the world starts imposing sanctions on the US because your fearful leader backed out of Kyoto and 11 other international agreements, do you think those millionaires will be staying in the US? They aren't patriotic, they're just there to suck you dry until the next economic power comes along. That's the capitalism your brainwashed mind clings to so dearly.

And who is being ruled by people who want to be French? Do you mean Quebec? They don't want to be French, you idiot, they speak French for the same reasons you speak English and not native american, they don't want to join France! And by the way, if it wasn't for France, your precious United States never would have existed in the first place, or do you actually think Americans fought the revolution and not the French?

And have you watched Talking To Americans like I told you to? That'll shut you up once and for all.

Get out and stay out; royal SCUM.

by Sheepdog Sunday, Dec. 08, 2002 at 8:13 AM

Go Canada!
It if weren’t for the fact that most of the people here in the U.S.
have been sold a false bill of goods by the parrots of the media
slurping at the pentagon feeding troth like the fat over paid
pigs they are, maybe we would get the truth of the situation the
rest of the world already knows where there is a diverse and
working press. This will not happen here. These puppets of big
money are busy reading the script handed to them knowing that
their million dollar salaries depend upon the good will of the owners and sponsors who can and have eliminated voices that
don’t march in lockstep to the will of their true masters.
That being said, it is obvious that the weasels and rats we have to
endure on these boards are also being paid to crank out as much
riech wing foolishness as possible to attempt to foul the discourse
and discourage participation from the ever growing public
discontent and awareness that there is something evil and
cancerous, attempting to take total control of the representative
rule of our government. By fear, lies and betrayal; they are hiding behind a curtain of ‘national security’ while they rape rob and murder for the enrichment of a very few dangerously powerful ruling class families holding major stock blocks in the corporations now set to reap windfall profits from a system perverted to cater to their greedy and callus desires for ever more wealth and power. I say, get the hell out if they want to be above the laws of the land, not pay their fair share, yet reside like feudal nobility.
Take their ill gotten gains with them.
We the people can build this country up without them and without
their blood sucking self serving kennel of weasels and rats who
work for them licking their ass in an attempt to hide the stink and
mess they are too superior to do themselves.

Communism?

by Ragin Canadian Sunday, Dec. 08, 2002 at 12:46 PM

Where did sheepdog mention communism or anarchism (two concepts I've never understood the combination of)? He simply wants to get rid of the upper-upper class that is sucking a LOT of money from the average dumb ass American who lets them because they listen to the biased media who tell them not to unionize or vote for the Green party(no, the Democratic party is NOT left wing). The system you nutcases are running down there has resulted in the biggest disparity between rich and poor out of all the industrialized countries. And what the hell is wrong with the concept of people exercising what power they have to gain a stronger place in the economy? Isn't that what capitalism is really about in the end anyways?

It amazes me that you people never realize that socialism and capitalism go hand in hand, and no country will EVER be communist or entirely capitalist. Every country that provides the average citizen with the best standard of living uses a combination, being socialist on things people need to succeed (education, healthcare, food, roads, electricity, military, police, etc) and capitalist on the rest. It's not like the US is socialist in a lot of ways. You don't all pay for bodyguards, you have police. You don't all buy war planes, you pool your money and support a military for all of you, that's SOCIALISM. But you're too capitalist, and result in a huge lower class and a lot of innefficiency. On the other hand, USSR was mostly socialist, far too much, but there still existed a black market, people still traded, that's capitalism. That didn't work because the people at the top had too much power, and didn't care about their people, who had no power. When you mix the two, like Sweden, Norway, a lot of Europe and less so Canada do, you get results.

As long as you keep the media a total lack of interest in the world in place in America, the majority of you will always be doomed to think you're living the in the greatest country in the world, when that's only true when it comes to the power to kill everyone else.

Clueless in wonderland

Dear Ragin Canadian:
Why even bother addressing the Mr. Admirer as a thinking being?
He is just another government tool sidestepping issues and creating straw men or absolutes as he is being paid to do. He SO clueless he makes value judgments without any knowledge.
He thinks I’m ‘from’ SF (where they kicked him off the boards and
is STILL whining about) and that nessie and myself know each other.
We know he is a tool (a very dull and senile one because he can’t remember previous arguments where he had his sorry but kicked unmercifully in dialogue) for the roach droppings (elites) as he brings up the same refried spam as some universal truth. I usually let his more imbecilic statements stand as a splotcher to point out his ignorance rather than waste my time disputing what most readers can judge for themselves.

Kicked off?

by Ragin Canadian Sunday, Dec. 08, 2002 at 3:25 PM

HA! Admirer actually managed to get kicked off somewhere? That's perfect. I suppose Simple did too then. Well, I can't say I'm surprised. And I realize that his points are out of date, patriotic right wing rhetoric, but it's still very typical and I've been in the mood to debate lately, so I thought I'd tear him apart a little. It's really sad how many Americans live in this dream world where they believe that they live in the "Land of the Free".

And as for you, admirer, there are very rich people in Canada and Sweden, and so on. What I was getting at was not social justice, but rather the system that results in the best chance for peak standard of living for each person. You refer to people starting from nothing and becoming stupendously rich. But that would only be under a system where everyone is an entrepeneur and inventor. This is obviously not the case in the US. Millions of people there who start from nothing are forced to work heavy hours just to cover the cost of living there, let alone have time to invent personal computers. In Canada, for instance, starting from the bottom means a higher amount of welfare, and more social programs to provide people with the time they need to turn skills they may have into products for trade, or become more educated, etc. In turn, it allows them to find their niche, rather than simply tread water. The system is there in Canada and most other "socialist" countries for capable and ingenuitive people to become VERY rich, Nortel, Bell, Magna, Bombardier are all small companies that are now huge. The top 5% of Canada's wealthiest might be 5% less wealthy that the US, but the bottom 5% of Canada have FAR above 5% more opportunity to improve than the bottom 5% of the US. That's why I say that your country is NOT the land of opportunity.

The Mr. Admirer might need to unplug his TV to catch up.
I spend much time at the libraries which this city has four.
My ‘astownding pronouncement’ comes from reading.
It may be a challenge but there is a great book (800+ pages)
THE RICH AND THE SUPER RICH A Study in the Power of Money Today by Ferdinand Lundberg
Start with chapters III & IV
After he manages to crank through that, he could try some more.

I'm assuming you don't have children

by Ragin Canadian Monday, Dec. 09, 2002 at 4:13 AM

I said they should vote for Ralph Nader because he understands the only power the general populace has is banding together for the things they need but do not have. He also is a strong environmentalist, and if Admirer or Simon ever read scientists points of view (you know, those people who brought you such useless inventions as vaccines, pharmacology, genetic engineering) you would know that a VAST majority of the Scientific community acknowledges that if major changes in our economy are not made soon, your children and me (I'm 20, so I have 60-80 more years of fun with global warming, ozone depletion, smog, widespread cancer and aids, loss of biodiversity) because your beloved Americans have contributed over 40% of the world's CO2 emissions, along with a lot of other shit. You all are, essentially, killing your children and everyone else's and don't have the balls to do anything about it, just in case it makes a dent on your ability to "make a profit".

As for over taxing the rich, it's basically a nation wide insurance policy, cuz middle class ppl lose jobs too. It's not like the rich pay much in taxes anyways, it's all middle class. Canada has been fine tuning it's system for years, and it obviously is in each person's best interest to cut down a little on the wealth generation in order to gain big on health and happiness.

And as for Canadians going to Iraq as human shields, I'm can't say I'd do it myself, but I support their choice, because there are a lot of ppl in Iraq that are victims of Hussein that will end up dead if the US attacks, which, by the way, it has no right to. There are dozens of countries around the world (including the US) with weapons of mass destruction that have used their military might just as badly as Iraq, but no one is sending UN inspectors into the US (though I think it would be a good idea). If Iraq has weapons, you have to acknowledge them as a player and use diplomacy, not piss them off. Why do you think WWII ever occurred, because Germany was punished so severely for WWI, which it was only partly to blame for. If Iraq does not have weapons, you should just ignore them for the piddily shit nation they are, with no real power other than oil that won't matter in 20 years. It's not the US's choice if a regime change is to occur, it's the people of Iraq's. A US regime change will not result in democracy, just like it hasn't in any other country that they've done the same in.

Anyways, I'm sick of arguing with you guys, you obviously both don't know what your talking about.

The good fight

by Sheepdog Monday, Dec. 09, 2002 at 8:00 AM

Just because they may not know what they’re talking about has nothing to so with the reason they do it. We know why.
They are the paid tools shrilling their tired spin in the hope that
anyone will believe them. There is the possibility that they do know they are lying but have sold what ever integrity they may have once had to do the clean up for their masters. Upon this assumption I chose to post, letting them create stupid arguments
as a stage to provide some counter reason and references. The truth will resonate to the reader while the spew they provide only shows the poverty of their shallow spin.
If anyone visiting this board has any humanity or intelligence and is
seeking the allusive truth, these rats and weasels provide
excellent targets that actually resets themselves.
They bring their paper targets in abundance to shoot holes into.
They will never be convinced because their job description wont
allow it.
The constant yammer of their rhetoric is only intended to discourage rational dialogue. We can use this against them by providing information to the sane reader to let them make up their own mind.
Everyone is not as stupid as they desperately hope. And dealing with them only serves the original purpose of IMC if we don’t let the bastards take over as they are trying to do. We have the numbers. And the we have the humanity.

Harvard? HA!

by Ragin Canadian Monday, Dec. 09, 2002 at 10:17 PM

Ok, ok, I know I said I was leaving, but I gotta point out that Harvard is notorious for handing out A's to everyone and letting in all the rich kids. In fact, there are published interviews of Harvard students actually arguing that they deserve high grades because they pay so much. Watch Talking To Americans, and you'll get the point. For instance, a Harvard professor was asked to react to the fact that the Canadian government was going to resume the Saskatchewan Seal Hunt, to which he replied "Well, I think that's.. that's bad, myself. I'd like to see that stopped." and that he might go up to the ice floes there and protest. By the way, Stanford, Columbia, NYU, Princeton and Berkely didn't fare much better (especially Princeton, ouch).

It's all in good fun, isn't it?

by Marc Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at 1:28 PM

It's all in good fun...
gulf_wars_poster.jpg, image/jpeg, 684x1002

Oh, come on now! If you can't accept the rebukes against Junior, never level a single one against Clinton! But that would take away from the fun, cause some of them were downright hilarious! Attached (hopefully) is a Mad Magazine print currently making the internet rounds. Also, pretty damn funny!

Incidentally, it has been a part of the American cultural landscape to lampoon sitting presidents (as far back as Lincoln, and probably farther - net hounds, what can you provide?) Most presidents enjoy it, and shrug it off. Those that don't invite worse...

...to prove a point...

by Marc Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at 4:51 PM

We should all take a step back and try not to take ourselves TOO seriously. If we can agree on little humorous things without enjoining in attacks...

...I even knew it was coming, and STILL I clicked on the link! PRICELESS!!! I had to send that to everyone. I got so many calls...!!

BA - that saved an otherwise shitty day!

Sung to the tune: "If You're Happy And You Know It Clap Your Hands"

If we cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq.
If the markets hurt your Mama, bomb Iraq.
If the terrorists are Saudi
And the bank takes back your Audi
And the TV shows are bawdy,
Bomb Iraq.

If the corporate scandal's growin', bomb Iraq.
And your ties to them are showin', bomb Iraq.
If the smoking gun ain't smokin'
We don't care, and we're not jokin'.
That Saddam will soon be croakin',
Bomb Iraq.

Even if we have no allies, bomb Iraq.
From the sand dunes to the valleys, bomb Iraq.
So to hell with the inspections;
Let's look tough for the elections,
Close your mind and take directions,
Bomb Iraq.

While the globe is slowly warming, bomb Iraq.
Yay! the clouds of war are storming, bomb Iraq.
If the ozone hole is growing,
Some things we prefer not knowing.
(Though our ignorance is showing),
Bomb Iraq.

So here's one for dear old daddy, bomb Iraq,
From his favorite little laddy, bomb Iraq.
Saying no would look like treason.
It's the Hussein hunting season.
Even if we have no reason,
Bomb Iraq.

simple simon has got to be white. Like all white people, European, Canadian and particularly American he thinks that everyone should think like him and that everything he(bush) does is right. Because if you're not doing it like white people do it then DAMMIT you must be doing it wrong!

What's wrong with being white? I happen to be proud of the fact that I'm white. Why else would I be a member of the Ku Klux Klan?

Bursting bubbles

by rodie Friday, May. 30, 2003 at 5:02 AM

Simple Simon I hate to burst ur bubble but the Al-Queda is back, Afganistan has been forgotten and sliding into disparity. Canadian relief organizations along with some European ones are the only help to impoverish Afghan children. Shame on your President for abandoning a society that he on his righteous crusade to rid the world of terrorism, he is nothing but a spine-less coward and a hypocrite

by nigga please Friday, May. 30, 2003 at 2:12 PM

so the u.s. left afghanistan. funny i haven't heard that. You know why? because they haven't. there still there in force. I'm sure that the canada is doing something of any note. Thats like a pre-schooler helping me with my calculus homework. No one gives two shits about canada except you canucks. Go back to watching "talking to americans" and pretending you don't have a crippling inferiority complex. Your the equivalent of a 90-pound weakling concerning international affairs. fuck off.

Bush is an absolute moron

by frank martinez Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at 9:52 PM
vida27@sbcglobal.net

I am amazed by the people that support Gov Bush! How stupid can they be! His cabinet reads like a who's who's of corporate America. When every contract that was awarded for "rebuilding Iraq was awarded several months before the first bomb, or should I say the "shock and awe" which turned out to be thud and dud, was dropped to his cronies how am I to have faith in a person (I dislike putting him in the human species) that can't even make a speech without someone else writting it for him. He can't even answer questions without taking several minutes to try to come with some sort of lie as his performance on Dateline proved. He is not only a moron but a liar. His daddy and his money, which he suck off his cronies for, got him where is today. Unfortunately there are those individuals that will have the ignorance not to research this bafoons background. He has been a coward when any danger has presented itself. This includes Vietnam, which he lied about serving his country so proudly, to 9/11, and his gutlessness in visiting our troops in Iraq. He is as spineless as his father thought of ever being. I equate with the mafiaso that will not do the hit hisself but requires his underlings ( the US Military) to do the job for him. I am ashamed by this individual that calls himself our president. He has alienated just about every country in the world and every department in the US government. Only those individuals that can benefit from a moron like him, corporate america, would support if they were able to see beyond the smoke screen. WAKE UP AMERICA AND STOP THIS MORON!!!!!!
