EDUCATION FOR RICH AND MIDDLE CLASS ONLY?
stop_lying_to_children.gifvjjywx.gif, image/png, 449x321
Dear 48, Bush man admirer and T-Mex,
In Jamaica they privatized Education. Now more than 90% of the elementary school aged students do not go to school, because their parents cannot afford the tuition fee. The American oligarchy want to do the same thing in the U.S. and across the world throuht W.T.O. But people are not dumb, they have been ferociously fighting against any kind of privatization at the elementary level of education for many years. The amount of money needed for a private education would be out of reach for over 40% of the U.S. population. So who would get an education – rich and middle class kids... and screw all the other millions of kids. Because they are not important to the rich. With the tax money saved by privatization, they would cut big corporations taxes even more. Guys if you have any genuine compassion about these kids without education, you should start getting the facts from good books. Restricting some segments of the population from NOT going to school is evil. I don’t think you guys are evil. I think you have been mislead by the corporate media propaganda. Please don’t be hateful. PEACE Marcus

you didn't provide a source. . . so I did my own research. . .
http://unstats.un.org/unsd/mi/mi_results.asp?crID=388&fID=r15
Literacy rates are steadily climbing in Jamaica, and school attendance remains above 90%, according to the UN site above.
The fact is that most poor children in America do NOT receive an education. . . they are stuck in failing government schools while the wealthy send their kids to St. Albans.
Republicans think poor kids should have the same opportunities as the rich.
Democrats want to keep poor kids in failing schools so that they can reward their union contributors.
And in fact, the majority of urban African Americans want vouchers. . . if they want to keep their kids in failing public schools, they can, but most don't.

T mex.
-Republicans think poor kids should have the same opportunities as the rich.-
Then the link to UN statistics which he thoughtfully provided.
to the Millennium Indicators Database which is the first on the list of research orgs...
http://unstats.un.org/unsd/mi/mi_goals.asp
Which is a
-consensus of experts from the United Nations Secretariat in consultation
with IMF, OECD and the World Bank, and other specialized agencies of the UN System...
and then we scroll down through a list of euphemistic goals such as education, health, employment and-
then we see a reason the above agencies are involved
-Market access
http://unstats.un.org/unsd/mi/mi_goals.asp
38. Proportion of total developed country imports (by value and
excluding arms) from developing countries and from LDCs,
admitted free of duties (UNCTAD) (not yet available)
39. Average tariffs imposed by developed countries on agricultural
products and textiles and clothing from developing countries
(UNCTAD) (not yet available)
40. Agricultural support estimate for OECD countries as
percentage of their GDP (OECD)
41. Proportion of ODA provided to help build trade capacity
(OECD, WTO) -
With which my curiosity led me to the spread sheet on %-Yr. per country.
http://unstats.un.org/unsd/mi/mi_results.asp?row_id=655
Interesting document in that it has the ratio of resources spent to service the above agencies instead of being used possibly to allow them to pull themselves up. I was interested in the exclusion of arms. Again, T. Mex
thanks for the link.

I'm pretty certain I don't get your point. . . but frankly I'm not sure I care.
The initial poster made an unsupported allegation that privatization of schools in Jamaica led to 90% of the kids there not being able to go to school.
I provided a link showing that its just the opposite -- 90% of kids in Jamaica go to school.
KPC, as usual, has nothing to add.
