Mathew Lamont, a Long Beach anarchist who has been highly involved with groups such as 'Food Not Bombs' (an anti-military network that serves food as a protest to war and arms), 'COPWATCH' (an organization who monitors unlawful police activity), 'POWER' (an anti-authoritarian, anti-war/anti-racist group) has been in jail since April 20th, 2002.



On April 20th, Mathew Lamont was followed from the Long Beach Infoshoppe (R.E.A.C.H Center) by Long Beach Detectives where he was then pulled over in the city of La Habra and arrested.



He is being held in the Santa Ana Facility in Santa Ana, CA. and is being charged with 4 felony charges of possession of a destructive device, transporting of a destructive device, the use of a destructive device, and the possession of materials/instructions to make a destructive device.



Matt's bail has been placed at 100,000 dollars, and prosecutors have stated that they want to give him a minimum of 2 YEARS!



Matthews trial begins on Novemeber 12th at the Santa Ana Central Superior court on 700 Civic Center Drive. A demonstration will take place outside as we demand his release.

"Rampage" as Lamont is also known, would be involved in a "food not bombs" gig, while he himself was posting information about how to make bombs on his web page and was caught with bombs in his car. He was allegedly on his way to "blow up some fascists".

The nature of the arrest sounds suspicious since several of the officers where outside their jurisdiction and where on a repressive campaign against the Long Beach infoshop. Would cops lie? of course not!

Police forced themselves on my and my mother's home this week. They threatened my elderly mother with force if she didnt let them in. I accidentally pressed 911 on the speed dial and hung up before there was a connection. Both my mother and myself explained the situation to them when they showed up. They insisted on violating our home "for our protection"

I told them very clearly that they were not here to protect me. The police and fbi have been harrassing me across state and international lines for years now. Both my mother and I made it very clear that we didnt want them in our home. My mother was frightened and upset by the situation. I had to wake her up since this took place late at night. My mother is a sweet woman, well liked in the neighborhood and she has a heart condition.

The police should not be taken for their word regarding Mathew Lamont (or anything else) and he deserves our support. The alleged fascist get together that he was sopposted to have been planning to bomb didnt even take place as the police claimed, according to postings by the good people at the Long Beach Infoshop.
