It's time for California to declare its independence from the automobile! If we really want to stop Bush and his war against Iraq(and the rest of the world), we must organize a MASSIVE Critical Mass demonstration against the main instruments that keep us addicted and dependent on Shrub's favorite commodity-OIL! All bicyclists, transit users, pedestrians, skateboarders, scooter-riders, roller bladers/skaters should turn out and occupy the centers of Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego to reclaim the streets from the domination of the smog spewing, gas-guzzling four-wheeled plague!
We can urge drivers to join us by burning their drivers licences and dumping their cars! Think of the mega-corporations that will go belly-up if enough of us stop driving cars(Exxon-Mobile, General Motors, Ford, etc., etc.)! The cops will have a harder time harassing/profiling us! Fewer government mandated rip-offs(mandatory auto insurance, license renewal fees, smog-checks, fines, etc.)!
NO MORE BLOOD FOR OIL!!!!
let's get organized and end this oil/automobile/capitalist/warmongering madness!
Death to Cars!
Got an old car? Cut off the roof and fill it with soil and plant flowers and/ or vegetables in it. A mini greenhouse to start seedlings for your garden. Convert it into a dog house. A play house for kids. Weld two or more cars and it could be lived in, vans/buses work good for this. Convert it into a portable food stand. Make it light enough so a couple of low-geared bicycles could pull it, it could be pulled to fund-raisers{fun-raisers} or critical mass. Cars are actually useful, as long as you don't drive them. Happy car rebuilding!
I like the feeling of freedom I get from my car.
Perhaps, if the price of gasoline factored in the cost of human life lost so that I burn oil, I would drive less, but I cannot see not driving at all.
The low cost of fuel depends on the presence of dictatorships in the Middle Eastern nations.
so last friday was the last friday of october, and our LA critical mass ride. we had the most people we have had in a REAL long time, due to poster bombing and word of mouth campaigns. everyone was dressed in festive late october gear, we were all there for similar, but maybe very different reasons too. we took over all lanes going in the direction we were headed. we joined the anti-war campain at sunset junction, rode in circles around cars that were stuck and chanted "NO BLOOD FOR OIL!" with our activist friends. we rode to hollywood and highland and utilized our mass of bikes to ride circles in the intersection causing traffic stop and watch us make a atatement (or make fools out of oursleves, or both!) then we took our streets back all the way to eat a pita where vegetearian food ensued, there weren't enough bike racks, or parking meters, you should of seen the bi-blockade on the sidewalk.
anyway, we hope you will join us next month, the last friday of november, we know it will be cold, but what better way to keep warm than to BIKE IT with a group of other anarchists/activists/messengers/commuters and people who have never even rode a bike until they can safely with us?
