Hip Hop benefit show in Long Beach against Police Repression!

by hiphopagainstthecops Sunday, Jun. 16, 2002 at 7:33 PM

.

STOP THE REPRESSION!

HIP HOP BENEFIT CONCERT!

Friday, June 21st @8pm. Long Beach Anarchist Infoshoppe (684 Redondo ave).

May Day 2001, the now infamous riot int he streets of Long Beach was just the beginning of a well organized conspiracy to destroy the growing anarchist movement in Southern California.

The City of Long Beach, and it's police department, is now at the forefront of a well-organized quasilegal conspiracy, in cahoots with Los Angeles, La Habra, Fullerton, Orange County sheriffs and FBI.

Their goal is to jail a few of the most outspoken anarchists in order to intimidate the rest of the movement. We have seen this scheme played out already in Eugene with devastating results.

Political repression continues to intensify in Long Beach and Southern California with excessive surveillance, harassment, profiling, and arrests.

AN EVENT TO RAISE AWARENESS AND BUILD SUPPORT!

Where: 684 Redondo Ave, Long Beach, CA (Long Beach Anarchist Infoshoppe)

Time: 8PM

Cost:

funds will go towards helping political prisoners.

For more information contact LB Infoshoppe at 562-434-6934

"What a capitalist idea"

Raising much needed money to support our political prisoners is about as far from a capitalist venture as you can get.

I will not tolerate anyone speaking against our comrades who are in jail.

Solidarity:

Jeff Leurs: 22 1/2 years

Craig Marshall: 5 1/2 years

Robert Thaxton: 7 1/2 years

Robert Middaugh: 2 1/2 years

Matt Whyte: 1 1/2 years

Peter Schnell: 2 1/2 years

Matthew Lamont: awaiting trial in the orange county jail.

NO ASSHOLE WE ARE NOT ALL POLITICAL PRISONERS! HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN A CELL? BEEN LOCKED DOWN IN SOLITARY FOR 22 HOURS A DAY? HAD YOUR MAIL STOLEN? CONSTANT THREATS AND HUMILIATION FROM THE PRISON GUARDS? BEATINGS? SEPARATION FROM YOUR LOVED ONES, YOUR ONLY CONTACT THUR THICK GLASS AND A TELEPHONE?

FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK

"capitalist idea"?

by johnk Monday, Jun. 17, 2002 at 7:44 PM

How is making a little money, especially for a good cause, "capitalism"?

It's been an ongoing project of Big Business to have "small business" and workers identify themselves with the forces of capitalism. Back in the early 1900's, when people dreamt of freedom from capitalism, it involved bodily injuries to the "evil fat cats".

Today, we've got people worshipping the likes of Bill Gates and Rupert Murdoch. And, we've got "critics" who accuse any kind of money making pursuit as "capitalism".

That's like calling masturbation "sex", shooting spitwads "war", and food not bombs "meat". They're NOT the same thing, even though they exist on the same continuum.

I don't know what the "magic number" is when you have enough money to be a "capitalist", but here's an idea: you're a capitalist only when you have enough capital to not lose money to banking fees and inflation.

At that level, you're "breaking even" and still working. You can be a capitalist, and starve to death.

Long Beach anarchist responds

by erica Wednesday, Jun. 19, 2002 at 3:11 AM

In regards to the above comments, Id like to agree that yes in a sense we are all political prisoners. We have the privilege of not being in a 4 waled cage for 23 hours a day. While we still live in this capitalistic system we will need to use their monetary system in order to get what we need. So yes it does cost money for lawyers and court documents. I think that instead of wasting your time posting your ignorant comments maybe you should show support.

The money will be going towards those who have been arested here in Long Beach over the past year.

This would include Ruckus, Sara as well as rampage and max.

I wish that we could all join collectively and raise money for all prisoners of war as well as political and those convicted of crimes due to their situations such as poverty or abuse. If people truly care about bringing awareness as well as support to these causes they wpuld be doing something about them and not sitting in front of there computer complaining and causing more division between people.
