4. Drug War! Race & Party, NYC Saturday Night
This Saturday evening, April 20, 10:00pm in New York City, a new type of anti-drug war event will take place. The DRUG WAR! Race is an "alley cat" cycling competition sponsored by the New York Bike Messenger Association. In this race, the bikers play the role of drug runners, picking up money, delivering contraband, and bailing their friends out of jail, acting out the drug war as it is for many urban Americans.
The DRUG WAR! Party will follow the race. It is produced by Shout Louder! and the New York Bike Messenger Association, and will be held at the Lunatarium (
http://www.lunatarium.com) 10 Jay Street on the Brooklyn Waterfront (F train to York, walk to the waterfront, last building on the left), and will benefit the Drug War Awareness Project, a new organization committed to raising awareness of the Drug War through art and education. Information will be provided by the New York Medical Marijuana Patients Cooperative, Cures-Not-Wars, DanceSafe, the Drug Reform Coordination Network, Marijuana Policy Project, NORML, Students for Sensible Drug Policy and many more.
The event will feature installation art about the drug war created by a crew of more than 40 artists. Music will be provided by Drum Circle, DJ Chrome, DJ Cync, DJ Nigel, DJ Ness, Kid Lucky, King Manic and other special guests. Drug war victims are invited to bring a photograph and tell your story on the "Wall of War."

We need one of these here. How about staging one at the Orange County May Day Reclaim the Streets event at Loretta Sanchez's office? Why? In addition to turning her back on the immigrant community she courted to get votes from, she did the same thing for the AIDS, disabled, and queer communities. She campaigned in support of medicinal cannabis, but voted against all medicinal cannabis issues since entering congress, and has supported the death penalty for those who bring cannabis across the borders! Her lies are costing disabled people and immigrants their lives! End the drug war!
RECLAIM THE STREETS! CARNIVAL AGAINST CAPITALISM!
When: May 1ST
Where: Orange County
Gather in front of Loretta Sanchez Office, Reclaim the Streets march begins at 6PM (after rally)
Location: 12397 Lewis St #101, Garden Grove, CA
The Spirit of Mayday is ALIVE in Orange County! We invite everyone to come together in the spirit of mayday & join in this CELEBRATION of resistance. There will be a protest against Loretta Sanchez because she enlisted the help of the Immigrant working class community in Orange County to place herself into office. The community trusted her, and supported her, and she has failed to fight for the community that put her into office. She has voted for laws that target the Immigrant working class community, and has even helped for an INS to be built in Anaheim, she has turned her back on the people that put her where she is today, and on top of that she has also betrayed them by making their struggles even greater.
RECLAIM THE STREETS!
At 6pm after the ra!
lly there will be a festive and militant march to declare resistance to the oppressive capitalist agenda, and to create liberation from those who expliot us and our planet.
Ultimately it is in the streets that power must be dissolved: for the streets where daily life is endured, suffered and eroded, and where power is confronted and fought, must be turned into the domain where daily life is enjoyed, created and nourished.
