by Peace March Shoes Saturday, Apr. 20, 2002 at 12:27 AM

April 20, 2002 Peace March in San Francisco: Information on Buses from Los Angeles and location of San Francisco march. From: http://www.iacenter.org

From: http://www.iacenter.org

LOS ANGELES TO SAN FRANCISCO

HOW TO GET ON THE SAN FRANCISCO BUS FROM LOS ANGELES

We can now accept your debit card or credit card for ticket purchases! The ticket price is round trip. If you are on fixed income or unemployed, or a student, your welcome to pay instead. Call us as soon as you can to reserve your space.

Buses will be leaving from Holman United Methodist Church, at 3320 W. Adams Blvd (btwn Arlington and Crenshaw in Los Angeles). People should arrive at 11:15 pm on Friday night at the latest. Parking will cost in the church parking garage. If you can arrange to be dropped off we encourage it. The buses will be leaving at midnight, and arrive early in the morning (bring a pillow). We'll arrive back in Los Angeles late Saturday night. Time is running short so call in your payment or make out and bring a check to:

International Action Center

422 S. Western Ave, Room 114

Los Angeles, CA 90020

IAC Office Hours: We'll be staffing the office from 10 am until 8:00 pm each day this week. Please call if you're going to stop by. 213 487-2368

SAN FRANCISCO PLAN FOR THE DAY

We will assemble in Dolores Park, 19th & Dolores Streets at 11 a.m. for an opening rally. Around 12 noon, the march will begin and proceed through several neighborhoods -- Mission, Castro, Lower Haight and Western Addition to the S.F. Civic Center for the closing rally beginning at 1 p.m. The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition is encouraging people to join the People's Earth Day demonstration later in the afternoon at the PG&E plant in Bayview-Hunter's Point

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

People are urged to use public transportation. Dolores Park is located on the San Francisco MUNI "J" Church Line. Get off at either 18th or 20th St. MUNI fare is .00, bills or coins. The "J" Church line can be accessed under Market St. More info at www.sfmuni.org or 415-673-MUNI. This same line services Civic Center from Dolores Park. If you drive, parking is limited in the Dolores Park vicinity. It is better drive and park at Civic Center garage, located under the plaza where the rally is held. Entrance is on McAllister between Carlton Goodlett Pl (Polk St.) and Larkin. Rate is for 5 hours. Once parked, walk to Market St. and ride San Francisco MUNI underground "J" Church line to Dolores Park as above. We will be sending out driving directions to Dolores Park and Civic Center next week, as well as bus drop-off/parking info.

IF YOU'RE STAYING LONGER AND NEED HOUSING

If you are going to stay in San Francisco, here are some suggestions for affordable accommodations. Although we are trying to find a space for people to sleep, it is unlikely. However please let us know if you will need housing in the event we are successful. Ft. Mason Hostel 415 771 7277 Civic Center Hostel 415 474-5721 @ 685 Ellis at Larkin Both are about .50 per night

WE NEED YOUR HELP -- ON APRIL 20

On April 20, we will need hundreds of volunteers to help with set-up and take-down, monitoring and security, literature and sign distribution, staffing for tables, name collectors, etc. Please call our office if you'd like to help out, or talk to your bus captain on the trip.

DONATIONS ARE URGENTLY NEEDED

Organizing a march and rally like April 20th costs tens of thousands of dollars -- for sound, stage, porta-toilets, leaflets, posters, mass mailings, huge phone bills, placards, banners, buses and more. Please consider making as generous a donation as possible, if you haven't already (and maybe even if you have). Online donations can be made at www.progressunity.org and are tax-deductible.

Checks can be made to International ANSWER (tax-deductible to Progress Unity Fund) and mailed to

Onto SF & DC! Unlike W, we won't be AWOL!

by DL Saturday, Apr. 20, 2002 at 6:23 AM

Bravo to all those who'll be marching to a different tune than the Bush League jingoist anthem. By the thousands you'll march against War & injustice; and not only in SF & DC but in hundreds--maybe thousands--of towns across North America. Rejoice and creatively show your commitment to Peace. Show the world the Bush League's "high poll ratings" are the corporate media's manufactured consent.

Turning tragedy into War is crime against humanity!
