Scared Stiff to Struggle

Revolution Scared Stiff

By MNS

It seems as though everyone on the revolutionary left and all radical anti-authoritarians have been scared stiff after the September 11 attack. Although this seems natural, considering the obvious repression by state forces for this to happen, it is difficult to understand. For some, revolution has been too easy, an event full of merely fun and merriment. Not that revolution is devoid of these things, but the fact remains that when the people pose a threat to the ambitions of the few, shit will hit the fan. Whether the massacre be originated from one elite or another, it is inevitable. This time, the threatened capitalists from the east struck back at the imperialism of the empire in the west. In the process, thousands of unknowing innocents got killed in the cross-fire. This is nothing new, however, because millions of innocents have been caught in the same horror for years in the developing world. It is only now that the isolated continent here had their chickens come to roost.

Why do so many people say that we have been handed a set back? How far do you think we have come since Seattle? Not far at all. And, that little progress we have made had to be shut out. This is a fight by one pig to another. The only thing is that bin-Laden is using the Arab and Muslim world as sheep in his struggle to take over the pie held by the pigs in Washington. Bush and bin-Laden are both spoiled rich kids that would be friends if it wasn't for this little squabble. Perhaps, if Bush shook hands with Osama they could destroy us all together. The truth is that they both hate us, they both despise our lives. They both are different sides of the same fucking coin.

Those of us in the west quit if any blood is drawn. People that live in the US are basically a bunch of cowards--are soldiers run away when its colonized warriors come to defend their lives and its revolutionaries hide when the first sign of fascism hits its government. Did we not dream this--did we not have nightmares about this? Did we not know this? Revolution isn't a game..it's real life and the stakes are high. The powers-that-be will do us in without a flinch. The trick is to get the majority on our side while uncovering the subtly obvious is difficult in this age of technological brainwashing.

Somehow I doubt we ever really believed that the US empire was capable of trapping and incarcerating its resisters in gulags. Comrades, do not doubt, that these mass murderers are more than willing to torture us. It's all PR, if they can convince the "good Germans"...I mean, the "good Americans" that we are a threat, we are goners. But, will we give in and give up? Will we let ourselves be destroyed in their squeezing clenching hands? Hell no.

Will we allow them to label us terrorists while they plunder the Earth and its creatures? Will we allow them to kill us as they kill everything we hold dear? We cannot allow that and as they begin to do this now, we much counter act it. The anti-war movement will grow. People are already dissatisfied with the US military's mutilation of Afghan children. People are asking themselves if the poorest country on Earth deserves this treatment from the richest empire. It's only a matter of time.

The fact is this: the US will lose this war. And, if the People don't win, we will ALL lose this war. The stakes are high as we are all threatened with total extinction. There may be no higher power dictating our responsibility to care for the creation, but it seems to be an instance to do so. I may die tomorrow--in fact, there is no doubt to the extreme possibility, but I will not stand by to watch the whole world die a horrifying death. My interest is in hope and hope is quickly disappearing.

This is so much more dangerous than the Cold War. We are in a state that hasn't been seen in human history. The powers are sick and they see the end of the prosperity we have had for so many decades. The resources must be controlled and everyone wants to control them. There is no way out--there is no compromise. The world war can be delayed but as long as capitalism and excessive consumption is allowed to continue, there is no hope. This is not a new reality--this has existed for many years. But, now it is coming to a head, and if delayed, only within our lifetimes.

Practical revolution is more necessary than ever. It's not a matter of gaining some of our humanity back...it's necessary for our very survival. There is no hope without true democracy. There is no hope without a sane policy and internationalism. Time is against us, and hope is against us. but, we cannot remain stuck in complicity and apathy. If we are to go down together--we go down fighting together. to the death, for dignity, justice, and equality. Speak truth to power and may victory be ours! down with all terrorists and up with our vision of life!
