This year's October 22nd National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation. Came off as a huge success. Many people attended the march and rally this year with great enthusiasm and determination to get the message through.
However at least one young brother (and maybe more) were picked off by police and arrested after the march was over. One brother that we know of is being held on ,000 dollars bail for "assult against a police officer." This young brother got picked up while sitting at a bus bench waiting to go home. The fact that the police picked up this brother and tried to bully others while they were leaving this successful march - is a cowardly act! We are asking people to help by calling the Central Jail at 213-485-5253 or Parker Center at 213-485-3266 and demanding he and any others be released now!
Lastly while there is a lawyer from the NLG now helping out - we are asking people to send donations for this outragous bail so we can get him and any other asap! Please make check to:

(Please put "bail donation" in the memo section of check)
Please call O22 at 323-957-4661 for further information and updates!
Kayla here at the office of 022. We're trying to find out if there were others arrested. We've heard there were, but no confirmation, including from attorneys who have been to Parker Center and to Central Jail following the protest. We still only know of this one protester that was arrested after the protest was over and we were 'dispersing' back down Broadway. If you know anyone else that was arrested, please call us so we can organize support, etc. WE WILL NOT TOLERATE THEM FURTHER CRIMINALIZING OUR YOUTH AND THOSE WHO DARE TO PROTEST POLICE BRUTALITY! As Peter Tosh said, "Everyone's talking about crime, but who are the REAL Criminals?" Please call us here at the 022 office if you have any info. Thanks.
