Remember our dead hero in Italy

by Rampage Wednesday, Aug. 01, 2001 at 10:51 PM

It is important to remember the death of young Carlos in Genoa. So many times the movement has forgotten the sacrafices that people make on the streets.

It is important to remember the death of young Carlos in Genoa. So many times the movement has forgotten the sacrafices that people make on the streets. I hope we will not let this one be another case. The picure of our young brother lying lifeless on the ground in a pool of his blood haunts me every day. I can not forget it. Though I know that many will move on to the next hot topic in the anti-globalization movement I beg that you remember this young mans sacrafice. He had so much of his life ahead of him and they took it away with out hesitation. I know now that there is going to be a even larger discussion on violence and non-violence, etc. but remember that Carlos did not die to be the topic of our discussion groups, he died for believing in making the world a better place. He was shot down for being angry. Though it delights me that there is so many people willing to put their lives on the line, it depresses me to know that we will have to face losing our sisters and brothers to untimely deaths at the hands of our cold blooded enemies. This year I have seen many sacrafices. My personal friends being deported and imprisoned for demonstrating, to comrades far away being shot down in the streets. This is not a game. It's not a thing to do on the weekend or on your days off. This is a revolution. We have to be ready to lose everything that we hold dear in order to be free. That is what I have realized. I have no remorse for the police or the rulers who have suffered at the hands of militant protests, cos I know that better lives have been spent in prison cells, shot in the street, and excuted behind concrete walls. Sacrafice is everything. Remember our dead hero.
