the attacks against KPFA, WBAI, and Democracy Now! resigns.

A peaceful and legal informational picket outside the headquarters
and a local event of the NAHB afilliate, Builders Industries

NAHB's aggressive strong-arm tactics and to demand
that Ken Ford, manager at the NAHB, resign from the
Pacifica Radio Network's board of directors.

pacificacampaignla@yahoo.com or call 323-878-5680
to sign-up for pickets, carpool and more information.

NOTE: The Pacifica LA will supply flyers and signs for this event.
Please e-mail down4brown68@hotmail.com
with slogan suggestions relating to Ken Ford.

If you cannot physically make it to the July 10th events:
Call or email the NAHB and tell them Ken Ford is a manager at the Washington
DC Headquarters of the NAHB who is actively participating in the destruction
of a highly valued public and nonprofit media institution, the Pacifica
Network. He has grossly violated the public trust, abused fiduciary
responsibilities, squandered the organization's funds, and stayed past his
second and final term on the board. It is urgent that Mr. Ford resigns from
the Pacifica Board. Please contact him at 800-368-5242x22 or Bruce Smith,
NAHB president at 800-368-5242x408.

Be polite but firm. Call as often as you feel you must to make yourself
heard.

More on the NAHB and Ken Ford

The NAHB spends millions on campaign contributions and lobbying to
influence public policy for the benefit of homebuilders, and
lobbies against any regulation that would protect the environment or
the interests of the public if that regulation conflicts with the
profits of real estate developers. In 1999, the NAHB lobbied against
the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act and the
toxic-waste-site Superfund.

"Vice chairman Ken Ford, an engineer with the conservative Housing Trade
Association in Washington, says the challenge is to honor the social-justice
mission while Pacifica grows. "But we are a corporation. It's nonprofit, but
we have to operate as a business."

--Time Magazine, January 29, 2001

"Aren't you the man who, when presented with a petition signed by
hundreds of KPFA (Pacifica Radio) listeners tore it up and threw it on the
floor
without reading it..."

--A letter to Ken Ford from
Edward S. Herman, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania
