Universities and Countries Begging Companies

by intime-sdimc Wednesday, Jun. 27, 2001 at 1:59 AM

Science was noticeably absent at BIO2001: Most of the booths were of Western cities, states, countries et al. and universities competing with each other to give biotech corporations the sweetest offer in the form of tax breaks and office parks etc. Here we see one of Germany’s booths: It compares the contributions of Martin Luther and Back to those of biotech companies. Come on! The actual biotech company booths appeared to be not staffed by scientists seriously discussing the pros and cons of their work, but by capitalists out to make as much money as possible.

Why - Its' a convention!

by GREENgoalZ Wednesday, Jun. 27, 2001 at 3:30 AM

From these photos this looks like just another dead-head convention? These are all brain-less idiot "shop-keeps" - where are all the diabolical Frankendocs & their military advisors & sponsers?

- I am really confused about just how serious this is as a "steam-rolling" take-over tactic by U.S. BioTech. It looks completely dead. As dead as the corporate sponsered "Electric Auto Assoc.Conference" I attended last fall. That one I thought was a conspiracy to STOP people from buying electric cars!

- Is this conference just to make money for the center by charging high booth fees?

- Man, even with the cops and everything - the life is obviously all in the artistic protesters!

- Come to think of it, it was the same in Quebec City - total deadness, boredom, and no imagination inside the fence!

- Is this what the much-vaunted Super-Capitalist Corporate State consists of? A bunch of feeble-minded nerds, falling asleep in little high-rent booths? Eating G.M.O. breakfasts at dust-smelling "Holiday Inns"?

- Are these the high-paying jobs that have the whole world in AWE? If so - I would never take one - no matter HOW much you paid me!!!

These morons are killing the world without even knowing or caring?

I'm confused - are they even worth anyones' time to BLOW UP? If not - why the huge army of investigators? Why all the cops?

I'm confused - are all nice expensive buildings like this now full of dead people?

What's happening? I'll take a "Reclaim the Streets" party, any day - even if its' reduced to a public postage stamp park, covered with dog pooh......

Huge amounts of money - huge amounts of arms and equiptment - hundreds of government laws & measures - and NO LIFE???
