The Simon Wiesenthal Center was founded in 1977 in Los Angeles, California by Rabbi Marvin Heir and is named in honor of Simon Wiesenthal.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center describes itself as the world's leading defender of Jewish human rights.
Any human rights group should be questioned when it ignores the beliefs of the man for whom it is named and the beliefs of one of the greatest humananitarians in human history.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center has also chosen to ignore one the most famous maxims of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
"The old rule of an eye for an eye makes everyone blind."

WIESENTHAL CENTER URGES RETALIATION IN WAKE OF DEADLY SUICIDE BOMBING IN TEL AVIV
The SWC today urged the State of Israel to retaliate against the latest unspeakable atrocity committedagainst its people.
"Enough is enough," said Rabbi Marvin Hier, Dean and Founder of the SWC. "No country including the United States would ever stand idly by without immediately striking back. And all this carnage being inflicted even as Israel has been observing a unilateral cease-fire in the hopes of rekindling the peace process." Hier continued, "Ultimately, Yassir Arafat
is responsible for this atrocity. If he is unwilling or unable to stop this terroristic violence, he should be forced to resign and be replaced by Palestinian leaders interested in peace."
"The Simon Wiesenthal Center is convening its
Leadership Conference in Washington, DC this Monday, June 4, and our delegation will urge President Bush to fully back Israel as she strikes back against terrorism," said Hier.

Those of us of Jewish descent and from Holocaust families who are socialists learned long ago that Zionism equals racism and that the Zionists have a long history of collaboration with imperialism in general, and Nazi Germany in particular. As the great pianist Arthur Rubeinstein said in his biography, the US has inherited the mantle of Nazi Germany. It receives billion above the table and billion below the table annually to protect oil company profits. Israel is simply a pawn of oil imperialism and is thus a death trap for Jews. The only hope for peace in Palestine is for a secular, socialist Palestine and a secular, socialist Middle East. Any organization that defends Israel is just another bourgeois nationalism, anti-Communist outfit, all a description of Zionist organizations. They use the Holocaust as a fundraiser but in fact the Zionists collaborated with the Nazis and Israle had contempt for most refugees from the Holocaust. I am not surprised by this warmongering by the Simon Wiesenthal Center as they are not socialists; they support capitalism. In Israel, a theocratic state where there is no separation of Church and State, not only is there legal discrimination against Arabs, but the Sephardic Jews of the Middle East are treated with contempt by the Ashkenazy Jews of Europe and the USA, who are also richer. This is the stench of a capitalist society.
The Zionist insult to the progressive heritage of the Jewish people and to the workingclass in general has lasted 53 years too long. We must support a socialist, secular Palestine. If you wish to be part of a California electoral party that supports a socialist, secular Palestine, consider joining the socialist Peace and Freedom Party, which is also always for peace, labor, the environment and all civil rights including gay righs and women's rights. Just check "Other" on your voter registration form and write in Peace and Freedom Party. For more information, see http://www.peaceandfreedom.org
