What i saw in long beach
by * 2:34am Wed May 2 '01
IMC LA

Long Beach was one of the more violent police offensives I have seen yet and
I hope all the people involved are ok.

When I got there, most of the people were going to march with the black bloc.
They all finally joined up and started the move down the street. Once at the
end of the street, they turned around and went head-to-head marching against
the police in riot gear. A few people were hit, but the police began to back
off.

The Bloc continues marching in the streets and the police followed and
eventually surrounded them. They reached the front of that building (i forget
what it was for) and the police pushed them towards it. I saw people being
pushed into the Bloc who were not masked and who were obviously observing.

Once the cops had them cornered they stopped pedestrians and supporters on
the sidewalks and then began shooting what I believe were rubber bullets at
the protesters.

Everything was very close range and I'm sure people were hurt. Bystanders who
had no idea what Mayday was about were very alarmed at the "cops shooting
kids for no reason".

One man ran out of the bloc with his hands in the air and was shot at. He was
not masked or wearing black. To be honest, he just looked like a scared man
trying to get out of the ruckus.

Things just went to shit because the cops went crazy and nearly everyone in
the bloc was getting arrested.

From what I understand, the cops made an effort to get protesters into an
underground parking garage. Nobody was ok with this (of course) so they
stayed up top. Cops outnumbered protesters by at least 3 to 1.

I may not be articulating this all very well but it was all very disturbing
and violent.

Not many people seem to know about what went on because the indymedia
presence was slim and the corporate media was laughing it up with the cops.

There are a lot of people in jail right now who were put there for no reason.
A lot of people were hurt today so I would encourage you to spread the word.

Now that's a damn protest!

by chinaski Friday, May. 04, 2001 at 1:19 AM

Looks real good. Too bad I'm in Chicago, where our May Day protest march was pretty weak. Low turnout, and no real pressure put on the fuckers.

Mayor's Phone Number "Disconnected"

by john Friday, May. 04, 2001 at 8:48 AM

The 562-750-6801 number listed is not working.
This particular error may not be your fault (maybe the line was just disconnected today, who knows?), but as one who repeatedly tries to help the protest movement out, I also repeatedly find the brass tacks of organization and preparation missing. For example, last week, Quebec Legal had incorrect info on how to donate (the bank routing code was wrong). You know, I really believe the cause is pretty much won or lost before you take it to the streets. It's easy to run out and protest, it's harder to set up offices, man phones, shuffle papers, etc., and organize. But, it seems to me, in many ways, the battle is won or lost on that level.
Again, this here is a trivial problem. But disorganization--based on my experience--is widespread and profound in the activist circles of the New Movement. Let's all lend a hand and try to rectify this.

The number for the long beach legal support hotline (562) 437-4300 has soemthing wrong with it. Wheen you dial it, you get 562-437-4040 and it tells yo u to leave a message. This is not good. If people want to help or just want to know what the status of where everything is, they need a way to ocntact these people. In fact, that's my situation, i am an an anarchist activist from the Bay Area, and a paralegal. I was trying to see if the Long Beach poeple needed political, financial, or legal help and what the status of the cases are and don't have any way to do so. long beach legal response

by disgusted Saturday, May. 05, 2001 at 6:11 PM

The number (562) 437 4300 is also the same number as (562) 437 4040. It is the same line, just two seperate numbers for a purpose outside of this case. So leave a meassage and they will get back to you. There is no wrong number here, both go to the same place, and the same line, same voice mail. Yes. We need lots of support. This incident has only made us closer and more persistant as Anarchists.

No Media, I know how that goes

by Seth Jones Sunday, May. 06, 2001 at 8:14 AM
Gul_dan14x@hotmail.com

Yeah, here in Phoenix Arizona we had a protest with some 100-150 people. Almost no media whatsoever and we marched right past channel 10. We did get two pictures and a caption in the valley and state section of our paper, but they were pictures of us getting arrested, of course. 11 of us were arrested altogether, 10 on the street and one when we were protesting in the police station. The bad thing was that the 10 were arrested for taking up half a lane of a street, yet the police came and blocked off the whole street so they could bring in the swat team and arrest them. No violence or beatings, but definetly wrongful arrests and excessive use of force. An organization called copwatch caught all the arrests on tape. All of our protesters got out of jail the next day luckily, and I think most of them were fined around $675.

Good job in LA

are you fucking dumb

by algol Sunday, May. 06, 2001 at 11:31 AM

"RIOT" are you fucking dumb. Time for revolution is not yet at hand. If we start doing these demo's at night we will asking the pigs to kill us.
Day light is our friend it allows us to take video and photos for legal support , and more importantly it allows us to see. Yes we were dark colors
but so do the pigs. The pigs also have helicopters with night vision infa-red and radios to contact pigs on the gound wich means you can run but you can't hide. So the only people with the advantage would be the pigs, and that advantage would be us disorganized and unable to video them beating the shit out of us. RIOT you must think about thing a little more before the revoultion does begin.

P.S. also these demos are not just an excuse to fight the pigs who ever that was who made a statment about how wimpy the chicago may day was you are lucky and you know it if you have ever been arrested in chicago I am also from the mid-west I hope you don't get me killed some day.

by Anarki Sunday, May. 06, 2001 at 12:40 PM
anarki@mail.com -

I am from the UK and this year the MayDay protests were lame. Thing is, i am 15 and people my age thrive on violence and destruction. Most people wish to protest peacefully but i am always up for a big ruck. I was in London on May 1st 2000 when the protests got nasty and erupted in violence. This year The Wombles did some good work and one road was attacked and had its windows smashed. Next year i am gonna try and hit as many police people as possible with an assortment of things (preferably sharp).

Creeping Fascism

by Meria Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 6:44 AM
Meria@MeriaHeller.com 602-404-7556 Phoenix, Az.

Corporate media may be laughing, but true Patriots aren't. As a host of an international webcast for TRUTH in news, I am appalled by what is considered journalism and police "protection" today. It is reminiscent of the 60's but worse. Today we are fighting for freedom from BIG BROTHER in a way we could only have written sci-fi novels before.
As fascism continues to creep (or sometimes) leap into our country, only the true HEROES are out there on the front line. The police only following orders (I guess that's the defense the Nazi's used to).
True courage and true soul knows when to fight for their rights.
As we look to the world, protests are going on in every country as humans fight for their freedoms, rights and environment. This is a GOOD thing.
Many people need to reevaluate their perception of good and evil in these days, and pick a stand.
The heroes get heard on my show and always will.

What did that Rabble Expect???

by MSTBoss Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 8:39 AM
mstboss@yahoo.com

Why are these protesters wearing masks? Why are they so paranoid? Were they cooking up something more stronger than words to push their Communist May Day celebration? The disturbing part is that the angry provocation appears to be coming from the ranks of the these protesters. I don't see any minorities in the ranks, so at least the protesters can't claim a race motivated attack by the police. Let's hear the entire story of how these poor outgunned protesters got their little asses kicked for civil disobedience and organizing a riot. I don't know what planet these California boneheads are from but you can't become a disruptive rabble on the streets and not expect to have your "Peaceful" organized political free speech and assembly plans turn to crap. These police were performing well within their mission. I also believe that it was the protesters sole mission to CAUSE this scene. I myself and MANY others will be inclined to help the police against this sort of unethical and un-American activity. It's what you supporters of this kind of nonsense want, It's what you will receive.

Creeping Fascism wha is happening, though it seems to be accelerating. Hey want to listen to some great shows, listen to Meria. She tells it like it is, and has been bringing on her show leaders from the new movement thats emerging, and has made a place for them on the airwaves. If you have Real audio, she has great archives. Indy Media would do good to get in touch with Meria.

I want to say what is scarey here since, Seattle 1999, the police have been getting fiercer. This last post refering to the Blac Bloc as rabble was total ignorance and pathetic.
Anyone from Blac Bloc, you need help (I am limited) I have very small income, but if I can help your group in some other way please contact me, I'll do what i can. I'm 42 way out in the middle of plains but if you need help, in letter writing, and other kinds of activities contact me.

Boycott of California entirely

by Bill Gage Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 12:59 PM
gageserve@hotmail.com 518-282-9818 10 Greenfield Lane, Hampton , NY 12837

For the last 15 to 20 years the police in California have been getting away with Gestapo like tactics against citizens. The time has come to let the Governor and the people of California know that the rest of the United States is not going to stand for the California Gestapo any longer. Today, May 6,2001 should be declared the starting date of a nationwide boycott against California. This must include tourism(Disneyland, etc....), products (everything including fruit , vegetables, Cilicon Valley products, etc...), Hollywood films ,etc..... I am asking my friends and family to start looking at what they buy and if it says Cailfornia in any way, don't buy it. Let it rot! I am sick of seeing the most populous state get away without any punishment from any court. IT IS TIME TO START THE CALIFORNIA BOYCOTT! Them them Bill GAGE sent you . Thanks.

forget "the media"

by NaderInDebates Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 1:20 PM

forget the damn "media"
most activists start their first sentence referring to whether media came or not - or will come -
screw them -
and that goes for the so called "alternative media"
like the LA Weekly, and even Pacifica - they are any longer just an arm of the "media complex"
so get over talking about the media -
don't we have more important things to do?

My comments and deep respect to all of you

by Marc Ginsburg Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 3:18 PM
marcginsburg2001@yahoo.com 718-727-9162 100 Stuyvesant Place, T5, Staten Island, NY 10301

Hi! I have read the distressing news as well as the responses. It is very painful to read that human beings are being mutilated by anyone, and especially by those who should be protecting not harming people. Second, it is also disturbing to see or hear the lesser violence of emotional disregard of one's fellow human beings in some of the responses. We think too much in slogans and not enough from the heart. We are quick to angrily denounce others but afraid to examine those aspects of our own being which we could improve. When I say "we" I don't mean you who have written the posts only. I mean me, you and all of us fellow human beings who should be getting along with each other on this sacred planet. It could be sacred if we determine it to be so. It is damned and condemned if we think it damned and condemned. The power to change our world is within us. Gandhi, whose example we should be following, along with King and Thoreau, stated, "Be the change you wish to see." These people were not failures because they eschewed violence. They were immensely successful in teaching many people that there is an alternative to violence and hate. Gandhi stood up before armed soldiers and police officers and disarmed them with his humanity. I believe we will get further with love, which conquers all, than wearing masks of mistrust and hate. We can win, we can be successful and have a peaceful and fair world. But we have to believe it first. Only you can change your belief to that. No one else but you is responsible if you don't believe it. It is not because you can't but because you refuse to. You are always totally free. But freedom has to be defended. All of the true heroes of our world paid for our freedom in some way or other, often with their blood. We will all die anyway, so why concern ourselves with that fact but instead with what are we going to die for? It would be the greatest honor to die for a noble cause, to be brutally gunned in order that others can be free. I believe that was the spirit and intent of those noble kids who stood on the front lines. Those of us sitting behind computers screens--including myself--really don't have as much of a right to pass judgement, and certainly not to condemn anyone, unless we are willing to take the blows first. My respect goes with those who stand up for a world of equality and fairness. Let's call a moratorium on shooting either from guns or off at the mouth. Let's use our feet more and our mouths less. Also, our ears. What we have two of is what we should use more. Those who listen gain trust and wisdom.
Sincerely,
Marc C. Ginsburg

by LINDA L Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 4:17 PM

We have to be very vigilant. The rightwing doesn't play fair -forget it - they play totally dirty - I imagine they have hackers interferring with computer transmissions, and phone lines and everything electronic - They're already infiltrating protest movements for sure. Just like in the 60's. They're always the ones with the most violent plans, always want to push the envelope, and then also, screw up the plans.

First off, there WERE minorities arrested on mayday, predominantly of Chicano descent. Everyone is wearing masks in these pictures, so I don't think you're justified in assuming anything. Second, everyone who was brutalized and arrested appreciates the support of the people here, PLEASE get involved, this is the most difficult part of our struggle. It's certain we have a police state, what's not certain is how we're going to dismantle it.

kids who smash things

by Mama Carol Monday, May. 07, 2001 at 7:43 PM
carolquesi44@hotmail.com San Pedro, CA

As I said to 'Anarki in the UK' in a personal e mail, your willingness to use violence as a means of prostest, while brave, is a direct product of the youthful sense of immortality. Those of us older and wiser know non-violent efforts are better served, due to the parameters in which citizens must operate (legally) against the State. BUT, I am not a pacificist who would never condone violence in any circumstance, because I most certainly would if/when the time comes that I believe it is of strategic necessity. PRAISE to the youths who serve in the "front lines" of this new war against the State. But you must know you will be the first to fall, much like the uneducated minority soldiers of US wars who go first. You must know that many who fight for what you fight for oppose your violence, as they believe it weakens their own non-violent approach, and that they will betray you when the time comes to publicly defend your 'base' actions. I will not be one of these, but I feel you must be aware of this. You are ANTS fighting an elephant, like all of us who fight for human rights, but you are DEAD ANTS. And another thing, it's time that violent action people realized that rocks and glass bottles will never be enough to battle the army of the State. If you really want results, I suggest you at least acquire military-issue gas masks and riot shields. I know, I know, no money to buy them, right? See what I mean by the "older and wiser" thing? Economics considerations are inherently adult. Revolutions must be funded.
To the Bloc, your actions did NOT go unnoticed, although there is obviously a plan to bury the Long Beach May Day incident. Hope yer all sprung from jail by now. By the way, did you have a permit to demonstrate? I'm curious to know if actually having one makes a difference. I suspect not, though.
To Anarki in the UK, realize: Fighting back with your hands is okay. No person can tell another person what to do, anyway. But if you throw a rock, be prepared to take a bullet. I don't know about UK police, but the L.A. cops'll shoot you in the face and never lose a night's sleep, and will live another day to shoot again.

And another thing...

Forgot to mention:
ARTICLE THE THIRD, AMENDMENT ONE: U.S. Bill of Rights

"Congress shall make no law...prohibiting the excercise of...or abridging the freedom of speech...or the right of the people to peaceably assemble; and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

PEACEABLY assemble. I was not at the May Day march in Long Beach, and cannot say who it was, the police or the citizens, who "threw the first stone," although from what I read of witnessed accounts, it was the cops. If so, your civil rights have been violated. Has the ACLU been contacted? Was the protest recorded on video? The burden of proof is on the police (the prosecution) to show cause for their forcible action against the people.

An action must be made immediately to address local and national lawmakers that the violation of the First Amendment will no longer be tolerated. Aren't there enough ex-hippies in elected office who can remember their own civil actions?

With Los Angeles City elections weeks away, politicians would stumble and bumble around this issue...can anyone reading this think of who may know who or what organization would be interested in the 1st Amendment issue as a political device and last-ditch capaign effort? I myself will contact the ACLU tomorrow morning, May 7th, to get a foothold on this issue. Probably the Villairagosa mayoral election headquarters wouldn't be a bad place to start, either. So, I will.

Direct Action works, but use your brains

by mick Tuesday, May. 08, 2001 at 9:01 PM
meanangel@fsf.com.au

Check out the UK indymedia sites files on the British governments new anti "terrorism" bill, the post and it's subsequent discussions point out that a lot of activists in times past, from the Suffragetes to Nelson Mandela and the ANC under apartheidt would be classified as "terrorists" under this new act because they "used or advocated violence against people and/or property." In other words they employed direct action, no wonder they've got Tony Blair and his phoney "labor" government scared, and in these cases direct action demonstratably worked..

The point is that direct action can include violence, but it doesent have to, whatever works for the movement for justice, against fascism, multinational corporations, works, but, it should be employed with forethought, what are we trying to achieve.

I don't like the way cops conduct themselves at these actions, I myself was attacked by riot cops on September the 12th in Melbourne last year, but wanting to bash cops, because there-well big nasty cops is playing into their hands. Cops are grunts, there just donut-chawing bouncers and security gaurds working for an elite that wouldn't personally piss on them if they were on fire. Sure they grant them absurd amounts of personal power to persue the states agenda, but thats a functional thing, cops are the tools of the elites, not the elites themselves.

To all those who'd like to go toe to toe with the cops with an "arrangement of objects, preferably sharp", your missing the point, I don't like cops as a group, but declaring open season on the states hired muscle as an end in itself isn't gonna change the world. After to the fat cats at the top, the cops are just expendable human assets like everyone else, you could kill every cop in a city, the state would
just send the air force in to carpet bomb you.

We need to defend ourselves from police violence through effective barricading techniques etc, but the REASON people marched in solidarity on May 1 was to agitate for real social change, against the multinationals and their pet governments that are wrecking our environment, our working conditions, and our human rights.

By the way, solidarity to the marchers in LA, thank you for showing some courage for what you believe in.

Tips for the future

by jeremy in LA Wednesday, May. 09, 2001 at 6:15 AM
jeremy_prose@hotmail.com

I wasn't at this year's Long Beach march, and i'm sorry for that, considering the suffering endured by those too few hero/heroine marchers. Last year's May Day march in LA was in Beverly Hills, with advance notice, and many riot cops on hand. This year's Long Beach march was unannounced until the the morning of May 1, so as to get the jump on the cops, i suppose. Last year, with notice: 2 to 1 cop to marcher ratio, few arrests, no savage beatings by cops. This year, without advance notice: 3 to 1 cop ratio, many arrests, many beatings (including bloody, bloody faces and broken arms). Seems to me the surprise tactic only succeeded in putting already twitchy cops even more on a paranoid trip. They can mobilize much faster than we can. Secrets don't make good demos

peacefull protest

I think it is time for us to stand up and protest the injustice. Us meaning all the people of the world. Time for us to let the police force and the poloticians know that it is the people they work for. The May Day celebration was suppose to be peacefull. From what I see most went well. If some did not, let us not place blame but learn from this. Hopefully the governments of the world will learn also. We as human beings have rights. If we don't speak up for our rights we will lose them.

Protesting Is the dog call for riots

by Sisi Wednesday, May. 09, 2001 at 1:15 PM
silenceisignorance@yahoo.com

This is, unfortunatly, not the first time the batton of the cops have beat the protesters with out mercy. What we need is more coverage, and mre attention to the main stream audience. If we have learned anything from the history of protests, it is that the numbers (the people) are who own the power, not the cops. If we can find some way to get the message out to the main public, then we have strength, and the issues must not be dropped, because consistancy will remind them that we are not easy push overs, and will not be silenced.

I was there to march in peace, but instead I was shot and got draged half way down the street after giving up in peace. The thing that bothers me the most is why all the violence? Why did more than half of us get beaten by the police when we gave up peacefully? All this force wasnt needed. I am a minor and the way the police treated me going to the juvinille hall center was cruel and not justified. I have a different outlook on life now after being in jail for two days for no reason. I dont feel the need to obey the "authorities". I simply did nothing wrong, but now my parents treat me unfairly and have no trust in me. Simply because they believed what the police and media said. It makes me very angry towards the media and anyone that witnessed this and didnt do anything to tell the truth. I did not learn my lesseon. I feel the only lesson to by learned is that this system is even MORE screwed up then i had thought!

I was in phx for mayday, a friend from oc called me that night and told me the news and i was literally repulsed. I couldnt believe the cops basically lined everyone up in fire squad style. You can see it from the pictures its so gross. Everyone that can support the lb prisoners should. And also too the person who posted about how he only goes to protests that turn violent and then there was the guy who was talking about how there were no minoritys and we should have been beaten those were obviously cops or some kind of provocateur. Its kinda dumb to say there were no minoritys when theres an obvious person of spanish/mexican decent right in one of the pictures. Also why would someone from the uk just decide to post some drivel in this comment section. Anyway, just ignore it like i should have.

Repression in da' LBC

by Diablita Sunday, May. 13, 2001 at 7:17 PM
cyber_industrian@yahoo.com

What happened on May Day was the worst example of police brutality that I have ever witnessed. The police attack upon the protesters was completely unprovoked. This was a peaceful protest, despite what the news media has reported, and I have a video to prove it. I saw nothing being thrown that day, nor did I witness any property destruction take place. The police justify their attack by saying that they issued an order to disperse, but because we were surrounded on all sides, they did not leave us anywhere to disperse to.

The crowd was marching peacefully, then suddenly, the police began to herd and prod people, like cattle. They blocked the crowd in, and began to beat, shoot at, and throw tear gas projectiles at demonstrators and bystanders alike. There was at least one unsuspecting civilian who walked out of a building and got shot in the face. He was then arrested, along with another innocent bystander. I and approximately thirty others were only a few feet away from being caught in the group that was beaten and shot at repeatedly. Most of us were only pushed, hit, and cursed at a couple of times, most likely due to the fact that we were not wearing all black.

This incident has shown me what a police state, a so-called democracy, and a controlled media look like. It is truly a sad state of affairs when people are beaten, arrested, and demonized by the media, just because they wanted their voices to be heard.

Dear human race,
It is an apparent problem that the human race as a species is overly confident. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have huge brains and inter-continental ballistic missiles. Ants, our predesesers in creation and evolutionary superiors have a brain about the size of a pin-head. Us humans laugh when we hear that comparison but nearly all of the technological achievements that we pride ourselves on were copied from these miniscule miracle makers. Ants build bridges, farms, skyscrapers, and in some parts of the world they hunt down prey as large as deer. A termite mound in comparison to a termite is a much greater ratio that that off a human to a sky scraper. Humans pride ourselves on intelligence and we make nothing of it. We are wasting away our planet and if it weren't for ants we would
not be able to make the technological advancements that we do since our planet would be covered 3 times over in our own waste. Take the common golden retriever. Not the smartest tool in the shed right? I think that any golden retriever is happier than any human and is therefor more succesful. I am
not saying that humans are wrong to be arrogant just pathetically stupid. In the case of humans as a community this is a different story. It is abundantly apparent that G-d looks at all humans and all animals equally as I have just stated. Even science is starting to prove this. Genetic research is
starting to show that the difference between a human and a banana is not that much greater than the difference between any human and any human. All humans and animals contain billions if not more genes. The difference from species to species is no more than a few of these genes not to mention that the difference between a black person and a white person is even less that this.
In other words all humans are more than 99.999999999% the same. How can anyone expect to
learn any lessons in life when they don't listen to people who are 99.999999999% the same simply because they feel that somewhere amongst their billions of genes they have a few genes that are better than that of their neighbors. Clearly G-d is trying to show us that we are all equal in his
eyes. Humans should strive to learn all the lessons that they can, for there is an infinite amount of knowledge that may be very well different from that of your own that may very well be the right answer while you have the wrong.
How does one justify that they are correct when there are millions if not billions of people that disagree with them. Also arrogance not only hinders the learning process we call "Life" by not listening to the people that are adding to your understanding of life it also makes an even larger number of people not even try to make an impact on your life because they don't like you since you put yourself in a more important position then you put them. If you wish to learn the lessons of life you must simply love everyone around you because they are your equals. If each human thought of himself as equal to every other person on the planet we wouldn't have to build inter-continental ballistic missiles. We would simply strive to become close to G-d and find what makes us happy. Why is it that one religion claims to be right and the other wrong because they say that G-d will send them to hell for various reasons. What kind of G-d would make people from different parts of the world so different that he would favor one and not the other. This G-d sounds too human. In my opinion G-d would be more like a dog and love everyone equally to teach us that we should do the same amongst ourselves for the sake of our own happiness. Dostoevsky said "Man, do not pride yourself on your superiority to the animals, for they are without sin, while you, with all your greatness, you defile the earth wherever you appear and leave an ignoble trail behind you- and that is true, alas, for almost every one of us.

No Peaceful Resistance

by yourname Tuesday, Jul. 17, 2001 at 12:05 PM

It seems to me that peaceful resisance doesnt work. Really, how much freedom has come from this form of resistance? After 30 some odd years of peaceful resistance(at least)i dont see a change for the better, if anything, things have gotten worse. I say if the government wants to declare war on its people through the use of "peace" officers lets give em a war. Also, i believe one of the main reasons for the loss of freedom in amerika is the war on drugs. more laws against our freedoms have come from this than anything else i know of. Anyways, we should take up arms in order to fight back, at least then we'll have a fighting chance. Let the cops come to a protest with 1,000 armed people. Maybe then the cops will learn that we aint gonna take their shit anymore.

You hold a public disturbance in the form of a riot, throw rocks , bottles, and bags full of feces (hepatitis ridden) and call it a peaceful demonstration!? If the Police Dept. ends up dispersing a crowd full of HATEFUL and UNASHAMED protesters, it is because the crowd puts EVERYONE at the scene in DANGER- not only the protesters safety, but also the bystanders and Officers. Be appreciative we live in a state that allows us to gather and protest PEACEFULLY, for other countries wouldn't even bother using Less-than-Lethal weapons and chemical agents- life is precious, be glad you still have yours. -"Tina" Harding Middle School, Orange, CA

It's to bad!

by LBC Local Saturday, Sep. 08, 2001 at 6:47 AM
myhomebox@yahoo.com

It's definitely a shame what happened that day in the LBC, the idea that anything significant can be changed by dressing in black and marching in the streets is so retro. I am not too clear what the "May Day" marchers were figting for, but I suggest, using a little more modern methods, try visiting some grass rots organizations and spread the word by education, and pay tribute to the purposes of the march, suchas focus on what was learned, or what positive came out of the "May Day" malee. Realistically protestors are a pain in the ass for everyone, which inevitable leads to being disliked by all instead of being supported by many. So peace out you fools, and enjoy the LBC, instead of having a bitch or winerfest every chance you get!

Wow!

by Passing Through Monday, Sep. 10, 2001 at 10:57 AM

I happened upon this website after reading about anarchists being afraid to do their thing in the People's Republic Of China because they might get hurt or arrested.

Maybe it's me but shouldn't a place like that be your primary target?

An authoritan state that pollutes the air and water, denies basic human rights and controls everything within its borders with an iron thumb and is striving for a way to deliver nuclear war heads any place on the planet.

Seems to me the western "capitalists" have been there and did those things ... and basically life is better now while India, China and other countries want to repeat that pathetic part of our history.

In reading the paranoid ramblings of your clientele it reminds me that even Charlie Manson has followers.

It also seems to me that a lot of the comments are made by frustrated middle class white bread who have no real cause other than have a ruckus and get busted so they can have stories to tell.

Somebody in the above comments complained about TV commercials ... duh, turn the set off.

And a frustrated para-legal complains about treatment in the streets ... this from a participant in the ultimate blood sucking industry ... America's legal profession. Hypocrite.

If you people are for real I'll be looking forward to your journey to Shanghai but of course the Chinese won't allow coverage.

What's all the fuss about?

by Grant James Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001 at 1:54 PM

Sorry boys, I don't see the slightest evidence of 'police brutality in any of these photos.
Is it a case of beauty in the eye of the beholder ????

Hitler had the right idea

by Cop Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001 at 2:02 PM

Yes, Adolf had all the right ideas, Blackshirts, Brownshirts, Gestapo and gas chambers. The only thing is, he used them against the wrong people.
My first candidate for Cyclon B would be 15 year old British knuckle-draggers like you son.

What wimps!

by Ray Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 at 3:55 PM
Ray@funmailer.com

Anarchists are hopeless. They start trouble by breaking windows, disturbing peace, causing fights, and torching stuff. After doing that, they complain about brutality when the police have to intervene.

If it were not for the police, anarchists and their ilk would turn nations into "third world shitholes". If anarchists really practiced what they preached, they would flee to these so-called, utopian places like Cuba and encourage others to do the same.

However, European based societies are so perfect, that even some people of color can find time to whine about injustice. Why don't they flee to their homelands that have more people that look like themselves and are supposedly more tolerant.

Whites, of course are doing the same thing. The anarchy mindset pertains to constant whining and not having anything intelligent to say.

Gain knowledge and wisdom by listening to this. Noone can ever be totally free. If we were then we wouldn't have to listen to the pigs, pay taxes or take any shit, not to mention we would be floating in space because we are free from the laws of gravity. Your statement is incorrect, though well-intentioned. However, there is no such thing as the total lack of freedom. A sane individual will always have free-will to determine their outlook and attitude in a situation. One other correction is where you said to "die nobely for a cause, becuase you will die anyway." I am not accusing you of be a poetic narcissist, but at least understand one thing, and you will if you have ever read 'the catcher in the rye.' A mark of an immature man is that he will die proudly for a noble cause, a mark of a mature man is that he will live humbly for one. I say live and make a lasting differnce with your mind instead dying and making a minute, momentary difference with your body. Thats all for, other then that I respect your point of view, i do not neceesarily share it, nut it is still commendable.

Kropoktonist

by Kropoktonist Saturday, Nov. 08, 2003 at 4:00 PM
My AIM name is Anarchy21321

Attacks at night is completely crazy although in my mind violence towards the police is the only answer and the only way we can show people that we mean business and that taking down the system "IS" possible.

Violence towards Police??

by sarge Sunday, Nov. 09, 2003 at 4:10 PM

Violence towards the police? You are an asshole! We are human beings with families. We have a job, and that is to keep the peace. We would be much happier if you would keep you whining ass at home, than having to work overtime to clean up the mess you gather to create. There is nothing wrong with peaceful assembly, but when anarchists infiltrate to cause trouble, they're only going to find it. We don't get paid enough to get hurt, but we do get paid to maintain peace and order for the normal folks who want to live quiet, peaceful lives.

Make your voice heard at election time and be productive, not counter-productive.

Elections? What was that a joke? If you aren't acting like a fucking fascist, then I don't know who the hell is. If you don't want to work overtime when we assemble WITH A PERMIT, then don't, go the fuck home, and don't come planning violence in full riot gear.

a better idea

by juanathan Monday, Feb. 23, 2004 at 9:35 PM
imatthegates@yahoo.com 714-525-4261 422 bradford

i better idea would be to attack at night. the whole lining up to get mowed down really turned me off from the whole anarchist movement in southern california. Why would you try to fight someone armed better then you from the front? the state uses cheap shots so why shouldn't we? remember GUERILLA WARFARE? anyways, to all you cops that keep writting in about changing things through peaceful protests and voting, everyday this system inflicts violence on innocent people. It is set up to be unbalanced and trample the lower class. As long as these people suffer they should never even think twice about using violence against their oppressors. : )

why wouldnt you support anarchy?

by voice in the wilderness Tuesday, Mar. 09, 2004 at 1:02 PM

what's with all these pissed off liberals hating anarchists? why wouldn't you want to be free? do you like the fact that you have no say in who you fall in love with or marry? what happens inside your body? what you can wear on your face? how you can "express" yourself? why the fuck don't you trust yourself, and not puppets to make these choices. if you seriously studied anarchist literature you would probably see how valuable and important the fight for it is. and if you haven't given more than a superficial glance at it, then shut the fuck up and stop calling people "tards" and ragging on people who are willing to commit their lives to freedom. - if you're not angry, you're not paying attention.-

REBELLION creates change

by Elitist Rebel Tuesday, Mar. 09, 2004 at 1:50 PM

If it weren't for the rebels with free minds, there would be no improvements to society. We'd still be dining on deer carcasses and bathing in dust.

All the advanced things in life: computers, movies, books, television, architecture, explosives, laws, agriculture, medicine, music, money, and art... these are created by people who refuse to go along with the established order.

So, late-arriving, copycat neanderthals, nostalgists, conservatives, fundamentalists, repressive cops, and other naysayers: go back to your caves and surf the internet some more until we invent something new for you to enjoy. Meanwhile, please, shut the fuck up and stop thinking. You're not very good at it.
