MAYDAY LA. -My Working Hands

Workers march to defend Immigrant's Rights.

MAYDAY LA. -My Worki...
mayday6.jpg, image/jpeg, 432x283

Up to three thousand or more people took part in a May Day protest that marched through L.A.'s Korea Town district to Macarthur Park, an area populated by poor Mexicano and Central American Immigrants. The crowd was multi-ethnic but I'd say the majority of those participating were Latinos

and Asians. The march was specifically called to defend the rights of Immigrant Workers in L.A., who suffer terrible abuse, exploitation, and poverty wages. This photograph shows the diverse and colorful nature of the demonstration. A popular slogan found on placards in English and Spanish

was NO HUMAN BEING IS ILLEGAL. Seen in the photo is a placard reading MI MANO JORNALERA TIENE MUCHO VOLOR... roughly translated meaning "My Working Hands hold great courage." For more images and artworks dedicated to social

Beautiful March

by witness A Friday, May. 04, 2001 at 1:43 AM

This was one of the most inspiration marches I've ever been on. Props to the organizers. A broad array of immigrant groups, ethnicities and cultures, all in a show of solidairity -- this is the present and future of Los Angeles showing its colors, the foundation for building a city based on human values.
