The continued homophobic rantings from La Voz are part of a concerted effort to provoke and foster division in Chicano, Latino, Gay and Leftist movements. The pendejos ("idiots" or "pubic hairs") are obviously closeted or avowed Republicans who have spent too much time in "Whitey-er" (what militant Chicanos call the suburb of Whittier), the hometown of former president Nixon, an avowed homophobe, anti-semite, and anti-Latino who came up with the whitewashed "Hispanic" label as a means of undermining the militant Chicano movement of the
Witness the way in which their previous dispatch on "lesbianism" in indigenous cultures manipulates the language to paint themselves as being victimized by the progressive critics--a tactic that Republicans developed in the
last election. They claim to have supporters that have backed them up--there's alot of ignorant middle class
white people and mexican americans in Whittier--what else is new? That's a Republican strongehold anyways---
not reflective of the larger Chicano/Latino community that DOESN"T LIVE IN WHITEY-ER...
So, to quote my mother, "No hagas caso a la flojera!" or "Don't worry about the stupid shit..."
There was so much name calling and bad translations that I didn't understand what you felt was news?
Can you try to rephrase that, in a more coherent article, or sentence.
Its seems like you only have one thing to say but you threw in there so many racist connotations, i just don't know what you said.
Middle Class people from Whittier, California who put out homophobic rants on the IMC are not
chicanos. They are probably republicans. Does that make sense?
the message is angry and rude, but well taken, the revolution will not tolerate any
bullshit...especially when its stuff thats been done to us before...
I think generally you are right on with what you have to say, but do remember that there are plenty of down Chicana/os who live in Whittier tambien, and Whittier is not just a middle class or rich space. There are plenty of working class gente there. It is not the space, the color of one's skin, or even the income of someone that make them complacent with oppression, but an ideological choice and position.
Though, at the same time, I do agree with you that there are plenty of vendidos and racist whites there too.
But lets not attack divisiveness with divisiveness.
good to see internet vatos settling their issues...that voz de aztlan stuff was
messed up--those vatos are on the leva! puro punks!
but lets not bag on the good people..ANDALE RAZA!
The new 2000 Decennial Census figures show that the incorporated City of Whittier is now a Raza town.
It has 56% Raza population, and probably more cause many undocumented Mexicans did not return their census forms.
La Voz de Aztlan is a superb online news service for
La Raza. I find it extraordinary. They are the only
ones with the "huevos" to tell the truth. They are bringing
a lot of issues into the forefront that need to be discussed. There are a lot of brainwashed "tontos" that are followers and that do not think for themselves.
Viva La Voz de Aztlan!
Vuva La Raza!
