that photo from san deigo ftaa....
that's L.A. Black Bloc on the front line :)
I was not in black bloc....
But if it wasn't for the anarchist punk rockers i don't think that i will be going to rallies anymore.
i'm tired of hearing the same old speakers and watching people just sit passively and soluting peace signs while police attack us. from protest to resistance...it's time to increase the pressure.....
why do people who are pacifist supports ezln and zapatistas?
Aren't they for arm struggle for self defence?
Thanks for the comments and--yes--we do need to increase the pressure. I think this has been happening at the big actions like in Quebec, this weekend. It was cool that that BB and the rest of the protesters got along well yesterday.

Actually, the Zapatistas fought an armed struggle for only two weeks in 1994, over 140 died during those fights. Since that time they have been committed to the will of civil society in mexico and to resolving their issues through non-violent means. They are the first armed insurgency group that receives its orders directly from the will of the autonomous communities and the people. Since the cease fire in 1994, their primary weapons have been their word, which is why the level of discourse around their struggle is so well informed and sophisticated - and why they have had enourmous impact as a popular movement.
If you look at recent zapatista actions, you will see the people overwhelming the power of the state armed only with their will and shear numbers. In the action at the military encampment at Jolnachoj, not a stone was thrown to overtake and reclaim that military base. Their struggle and actions operate on levels of consciousness, conviction, humility and shame that we have yet to learn here - we still have a long way to go if we seek to achieve that level of struggle. See Jolnachoj at:
