Students Storm Office, Deliver vote of no confidence to School Adminstration

Students Press for Adminastrative Reform and demand Alternative Models.

After a years worth of unsults to the idea of Democracy and the enlightenment principles of Academia,

Students of CalArts in Valencia CA, approsimately 30 studentsstormed into the schools Vice Presidents Office Last Monday with a petiction demanding that the VP resign and that in affect, the schools entire administration is illegitimate.

Mirroring many of the realities of our nation presidential scam, the students again reminded the administration that

their management system does not take into account student voices or interest. Last year, the administration

effectively disolved the student government, closed the school bookstore, and dlosed the on campus cafe. Many students so these as a signs that the administration just does not care and is more interested in gather funds for

their endless fundraisers and million dollar construction project, the REDCAD theatre and Disney Hal in Downtown LA. The schools president Steven Lavine was heard saying, "No, I dont need student to run a school. We dont need you here, we could just run a research institute with out your complaints."

In the past, the students demanded to have open monthly forums with the administration including the President,

Provost and VP. These demands have been met. In the past meeting, the Presidents illegitamate decisons

were challenged so much so that he conseded the next meeting to arrive on campus with plans of action on how the administration can work better with the students.

Many students see these actions as irrelevant because they are present for a short amount of time and the school

has been functioning by fiat for 30 odd years now. Students have begun to investigate allternative governance

structures that they plan to take up to actively challenge the corrupt administration. Any ideas would be

appreciated.
