The Ruckus is Coming!

A Fair Warning to Riordan and the status quo: The Ruckus is Coming!

A Fair Warning to All: Don't Disrupt Our City!

Quotes from L.A. Mayor Richard J Riordan

July 13th, 2000

" The police will get tough when confronted with lawlessness."

"The vast majority of demonstrators will be orderly and responsible. . .by working closely with the LAPD and the DNC to determine the times and routes of their demonstrations."

"a small but significant number of rogue demonstrators, anarchists whose sole intent is violent disruption. . . will try to make the police look unnecessarily brutal."

"(they) have attended training camps where they have learned strategies of destruction and guerilla tactics. . . and communicate their methods of malice over the Internet."

"(In Seattle) the rioters were not angry unionists and

environmentalists...they were middle-class young adults who coldly and methodically destroyed

property. . . these so-called anarchists returned to their comfortable middle-class homes."

"After the Laker's victory. . . demonstrators seemed hell-bent on causing mass disruption and violent confrontation. . . The police countered by using a strategy of restraint and containment. They did not want to escalate mayhem into riot. . . This was an unhappy choice, but it worked."

"We cannot tolerate nonviolent civil disobedience. . . those who insist on using such tactics point to Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. as their moral examples. . must be prepared to pay stiff fines and face arrest and jail."

"The safety of our residents, our visitors and our businesses, as well as the reputation of our city, demands no less."

A Fair Warning to Riordan and the status quo:

The Ruckus Is Coming!

An Anarchist response to Richard J Riordan, Mayor of Los Angeles

On July, 13, 2000, L.A. Mayor, Richard J. Riordan released a "Warning to All" in the Los Angeles Times concerning the anticipated resistance to the upcoming Democratic National Convention. Riordan's statement is a thin veil of fear targeted at furthering the divisions of class and race, in hopes that all those fed up with the current situation of oppression and ecological devastation will NOT come together to finally confront the madness of modern society. From school shootings, to widespread use of drugs (legal and illegal), to our dependency on genetically engineered synthetic food, we do not need to look far to see that our lives have been methodically transformed to a brain-numbed existence, with television as our role model. Repeatedly throughout his statement, the Mayor refers to "white middle-class young adults. . .(who) returned (from Seattle) to their comfortable middle-class homes". While there are a number of white-skinned individuals within the international resistance movement, they in no way represent the movement as a whole. Furthermore, to imply that an individual born of a certain class or system cannot realize the injustice of that upbringing and strive to change it only perpetuates this suffocating and destructive capitalist system and furthers racism and division. It is time to break down the boundaries created by those that only want to keep us enslaved in their system.

Riordan states, "The vast majority of demonstrators will be orderly and responsible. . . by working closely with the LAPD and the DNC to determine the times and routes of their demonstrations." In short, the Mayor is implying that the desire to no longer live within an oppressive, greed motivated system can only be expressed through ineffective sidewalk marching and holding signs. After centuries of global domination by those who fail to see us all as equal, we have the obligation, the desire and the rage to change it and can no longer be satisfied within their designated squares to peaceably voice our discontent. Riordan, himself, admits that "We cannot tolerate nonviolent civil disobedience..." History has shown in Birmingham, Chicago, Kent State, Seattle, and countless other examples, even those who choose non-violent "oderly" demonstrations are beaten and murdered by the police-state. When the riot cops descend on L.A. with their "non-lethal" toys, presumably the situation will be much the same.

The time is long past due to bring on the Ruckus. How long can we passively sit by and watch as the earth and all of her inhabitants are mutilated in the name of profit? Is it not time to remove our reliance

from the corporate death-machine and finally build empowered communities of resistance? There are alternatives to living as a faceless cog in the machine. By relearning the almost-lost knowledge of how to grow our food, educate our children, heal our bodies, and settle our own disputes, our dependency on unhealthy bureaucracies and alienating institutions willend. We are capable of living truly fulfilling lives in the absence

of authority, as self-governing beings, providing mutual-aide to one another. We cannot wait for the current order to collapse on its own. Contrary to the recent media sensationalization, people need not fear those fighting to create a new world on the ruins of the old. Our objective is not to target individuals, but instead, the economic, state, and religious institutions which enslave us. We have no choice but to BRING ON THE RUCKUS because, as Riordan suggests, "the reputation of our city demands no less."

See you in L.A.

Revoltingly yours,

The "Bring On The Ruckus" Society

WELCOME TO L.A

by TAX PAYER IN VALLEY

FIRST OF ALL LET ME BE THE FIRST TO WELCOME ALL OF YOU "FREE SPEECH" PROTESTERS TO L.A.

I KNOW THAT OUR CHIEF OF POLICE AND MAYOR MAYBE A BIT IN FLEXABLE BUT WHAT THE HELL WE ARE JUST REALLY GETTING OVER A RIOT IN 1992, EARTH QUAKE IN 1994, TOW ARMED BANK ROBBERS HOLDING OUR CITY HOSTAGE IN 1997, AND NOW THE LAKER GAME "RIOT". WHICH WAS A "WARM UP" FOR YOU.

THIS IS A LITTLE KNOWN FACT YOU MAY WANT TO THINK ABOUT. HOLLYWOOD, THE LARGE SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, AND SAN PEDRO WANT TO BECOME THEIR OWN CITIES. THE MAYOR AND MANY PEOPLE AT CITY HALL DON'T WANT THIS.

THE VALLEY DUE TO THE SIZE OF IT CAN CONTROL THE ELECTIONS AND IS VERY VOCAL THESE DAYS. THEY SAW THE WTO, WASHINGTON DC "PEACEFUL PROTEST", AND NOW YOUR VIOLENT ACTIONS IN THE CITY OF BROTHERLY LOVE.

MANY OF US IN THE VALLEY HAVE BEGAN TO USE OUR VOICE AT CITY HALL AND DEMAND THE MAYOR AND POLICE CHIEF USE WHAT EVER MEANS NEEDED TO STOP THE VIOLENT TAKEOVER OF THE STREETS IN L.A.

WE WILL NOT SUPPORT THIS NOR WILL WE ACCEPT THIS. IF THE MAYOR AND POLICE CHIEF WANT TO KEEP THIER JOBS AND "SAVE THE CITY" FROM SPLITTING UP THEY HAD BETTER USE WHATEVER

MEANS NEEDED TO STOP YOU. IF LASD BACA WANTS TO KEEP HIS JOB

HE HAD BETTER DO HIS JOB AND STOP YOU.

IF IS "WAR" YOU SEEK THEN PLEASE COME TO LOS ANGELES BECAUSE WE HAVE EMPOWERED OUR CITY LEADERS TO DECLARE IT ON YOU!

SO WELCOME TO LA! I THINK YOU'LL FIND OUR WARM WEATHER VERY

PROBLEMATIC FOR TEAR GAS, AND THE OTHER THINGS OUR "PEACE KEEPERS" HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU WHEN YOU DON'T FOLLOW THE RULES.

MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAS THE PUBLICS SUPPORT. WE WILL DEAL WITH PROBLEMS OF RAMPART AFTER YOU GO HOME OR GO TO JAIL- THE CHOICE IS YOURS.

"HE" sounds so big brother. The "violence in Philly" in being entirely perpetrated by the police just lilke the violence in Seattle was. During WTO the police used their vicious weapons hours before one window had been smashed or any property destroyed. This brutality only escalated crowd tensions. The cops fired indiscriminately into crowds with children and elderly people. You don't care about the state of democacy in this country do you. You care about your little stock portfolio. What happened to your heart? Did it dry up in L.A's extreme hellish tempretures? Guess what? Americans don't like being beaten savagely for excercising their Constitutional right to freely assemble and express themselves non-violently. incidentally, smashing things isn't "violent." Hurting people is - and the cops were the only ones doing that. You really should be concerned with the issues so many courageous men and women are risking their personal safety to assert and highlight in a very hostile and unreceptive media that ignores them (example, current national media blackout on Philly protest activities)unless windows get broken. There's just too much at stake Mr. He, too be polite and play by the "rules". You should be concerned that our elected motherfuckers (and who can forget the non-elected motherfuckers) that run the planet, don't observe the "rules". That's what you should be concerned about as you choke on L.A's daily dose of death, it's poisoned air. We want to prevent everywhere from looking like a toxic shithole. Preserve what's left of our devestated, fragmented wilderness. You don't care that your beloved country has more young African American men incarcirated than South Africa did during Apartheid. Well we do. You don't care about the elderly who just go without medications, because they can't afford it. Well, some of us are willing to risk vision loss,(a 50 year old woman lost vision in one of her eyes during WTO. She was just standing there.)cancer causing chemical weapons, FBI intimidation, and near lethal weaponry, to try and bring the issues the mainstream tends to ignore - into the open the best we can. If you have any suggestions on how to accomplish that goal - we'd love to hear them. Some of us are sick of seeing fantastic old-growth trees that have grown for 1500 years being trucked down I-5 because some greedy motherfuckers want to more money. That's what it's all about isn't it? America, Inc. People are killing themselves defending these incredible bits of wilderness left. That's what you should be concerned about. People like you start frothing at the mouth over a few corporate storefronts getting trashed when institutions like the WTO, the corporate media, and the puppet politicians - trash the planet and the people on it systematically and consistently. On your deathbed, Mr. He, when you look back on your life - is it "things" you'll be thinking of or is it the times you took a stand, used your voice to ease suffering around you, and fight the causes of it? You think about it, and thanks for that welcome to L.A. The city of Angels indeed.

Correcting Corporate History

by Relegator

Warcry, excellent statement. Few know the truth of the Seattle "police riot". Only a couple of Seattle papers reported the correct chronology. Corporate TV fell into the appropriate line. Thanks for keeping history a bit factual.

I don't know if blocking traffic or breaking windows will get that many fans from the vast center of American opinion. There are many other "creative anarchic" ways to attract attention, even in spite of the mind numbing corporate media content creators.

Keep reading this site, and others, to take the protest to the next level--opening the windows of couch-potato minds, rather than breaking them.

none of your golfscores is going to compare to the fiasco

that is coming to the inside of Staples Center; indeed,

they are simply diversionary, and the networks et al are supporting you --

the leadership of th Chicago Trib must slaver for comparisons to '68, and

it seems to be clear, thus far, that the DNC will get far more attention, and

jacobin hordes, than the RNC anointment.

it was not reported in the Times, that Alan Keyes won 21 delegates,

was allowed only 6 of them, and was then not allowed to open his big,

Black mouth -- nor into the hall.

the situation at the DNC is much more stalinist,

with the party having crushed the primary vote to record lows,

in order to annoint "JR" Al, one of the few Democrats that "JR" Bush can beat,

by pretending that there was no primary, most media that complying with the policy,

of absolute white-out of the fact that where was, and is.

that is, in spite of the DNC, we won the Michigan Dem Primary, although,

oddly enough, neither Gore nore Bradley was on the ballot. (this was before

the Times-LaOpinion/CNN "debate;" speaking of which,

doesn't Ted "the Rough Producer" Turner support Ruckus, or is thta just "morally" ?-)

we also won 22% in Arkansas, where state law mandates apportionment thereby,

if any candidate breaks the 15% mark; this was overturned, when we brought suit

against the state party for towing to the DNC's request, to give them all to the Veep.

please note, delegates are not slaves to these diktats and lies!

Nader has called for all those with matching-funds to be in the FEC debates

--great idea-- although

his campaigners insantly spun that out to him and Buke.

the personal stakes are this:

four of our candidates are on federal parole, including the candidate,

after being jailed by the Bush Admin.; if

either Gush or Bore is elected, they'll go straight back to the hole, because

the President appoints the Federal Parole Board; dig?
