I asssume from the filename that the link downloads the Nader AD. Maybe mastercard sabotaged the thing because all I get is a half minute of silence and a blank screen. I've been wanting to see the ad pretty bad. Any suggentions from anyone?
Voting for Ralph Nader is NOT a waste of your vote. Sure, it is highly unlikely that he will win, but voting for him helps open eyes of the general public (many of whom may not even know he is running), and the Big Two parties. Also, if Nader can secure 5% of the vote in the election, the Green Party will be entitled to Federal Matching Funds in the next general election. This is a small, but important step in breaking up the two party duopoly. So don't think your vote doesn't count, because it does.
The same arrogant corporate press which is blacking out the movement in LA is also blacking out coverage of Nader's campaign. If Nader can get into the debates, many people, including much of the 55% who no longer can stomach voting for the evil of two lessers will see hear him for the first time. And don't forget that Governor Jesse Ventura was derided as a "spoiler" and was polling in single digits before the Minnesota Republicrats made the fatal mistake of letting him into the debates. The rest is history.
Nader can't win. No third party candidate can win where our constitution specifically outlines winner take all single member districts. We do not have proportional representation. So don't throw your vote away on Nader. There are real differences between Gore and Bush. Gore supports public education, Bush wants to privatize it. Gore is pro union, Bush is staunchly anti-union, etc. Defeat the greatest evil - George Bush and the fascist republicans.
Sorry my friend. Bush is slightly, ever so slightly, worse than Gore. Gore is perhaps more reprehensible if only for his sheer hypocrisy. For example, talking civil rights in the Staples Center while police goons suspend the First Amendment on the streets outside the building. He is pro WTO but gave lip service to "fair trade" in his speech. Haven't you had enough of this smoke and mirrors?
Nader is an avowed enemy of the multinationals, with a forty year track record in the public interest. Yes, he can WIN, if he gets in the debates. 55% of people have quit voting; Ventura was polling single digits before he got in the debates. Don't believe for a second that the power elite aren't dreading the prospect of Nader in the debates.
Moreover, how can you not vote your conscience as opposed to your fears? So what if you voted for Gore and he "won." We'd be in for four more years of corporate rule, death penalty and prison mania, "free" trade, and the "war on drugs." YOU'RE GOING TO VOTE FOR THAT? To what end? So four years later we can hear the same tired refrain?
