I wonder how big this movement has to get before we become another corporate demographic...

Do you remember Verizon's jingle?
"People everywhere just want to be free...."

you don't think that the independent media centers & groups like rage don't already have you targeted & are going to show the numbers they are tracking to get money for themselves, publicity for themselves, etc. especially in the digital & video/film industries. you bet you are targeted.

Dearest "$",
I can forgive the anonymous post, but if you are seriously leveling the claim that we IMC volunteers are *profiting* from our work here, I am taken aback.
I and hundreds of others are skipping work and putting in untold hours to create social change. I am personally losing money for myself by working here for a week. Your ridiculously unfounded cynicism is pitiful. If you can't tell the difference between marketed dissent and the real article, then don't even claim to understand our motivations.

I find it humorous that there are folks reading this who think we're all getting fat. It gives me something to laugh about. Hopefully those who write such comments will refine their knee-jerk cynicism into well-honed skepticism. After all, there here, wading through all this material that can help them in that journey.
Of course, there are rightwing newspapers columnists who say the same thing. Them, I don't find humorous.

I find it really funny that you think the IMC would make money off the site. We have been approached by advertisers who try and get us to sell ads. They say we have 'attitude' or other BS like that. Our response has been varied depending on when they asked and who decided to respond. It's varied from trying to explain why advertising is a corrupting influence on the news media to more extreme and combative sarcasm.
There are sites/companies which try and do some of what indymedia does to make a profit. They are even well produced, and have some decent content. They aren't democratic, anti-corporate, or community based.

Great pic, I'm going to use on my site. I would like to formally invite all peoples to visit www.VerizonEatsPoop.com, the official site for Verizon grievances, and to please voice your grievances, anonymously if you like, against this despotical megacorp.
It's quite sickening how quickly these megacorps forget those who made them their whealth - just look at the manner in which they are treating their striiking workers right now.
Visit the site, leave some remarks, and stay rude...
Yours et c.,
Alex

This pic has nothing to do with Verizon except for a funny
remark. This pic is about a man who put his life in jepordy
for the betterment of our country. Good job indymedia for
having the guts to capture what really went on at the DNC!
