The republicans ought to be extactic about the disunity shown by these people. Their policy is divide and conquer. If these people are unhappy now just wait and see if bush is elected what happen when he appoints right wing wackos like robert bork to the supreme court. To paraphrase Bill Clinton It's the Supreme Court stupid.Wake up before you are really threatened. The religous right don't wear swastika's but a cross may be turned into one.

So...who's shutting down the streets? By the way, i love how an anti-capitalist smashing a Niketown window is considered violent but a cop in full riot gear with a RIFLE isn't.

It only takes 34 Senators to block a Supreme Court Appointment. Robert Bork ain't gonna be on the Supreme Court in this lifetime. This is just more Democratic Party BS telling us we should all get in line, vote for Al Gore and BE HAPPY ABOUT IT!

I didn't see any of these images in the mainstream media coverage. Because maybe if they were there people would begin to question why the "democratic" convention has to be guarded like a goddamn military base in order for proceedings to go on as usual....

ever seen 295 sheriff's deputies, local, state, regional and federal police march in riot armor in a wall surrounding 9, count them, 9 white supremacists from mississippi through your home town?

I did, July 4th this year. 300 counter-demonstrators showed up after a candle-light vigil at churches the night before to protest when the town granted the 9 a permit. If i got 9 of my friends, walked to the morristown, nj municipal building, and asked for a permit to march against the prison industrial complex, i'd be kicked out by the mayor, my phone would be tapped, my house searched, my family harrassed, and i would be branded a terrorist and a thug.

it's okay though. the roman empire fell after three hundred years to a few Goths and Vandals, too. Here's to the last years of the amerikkkan empire.

They may look a lot more defensive than the Philly cops, but its interesting to note that in Philly the protesters never even made it this close to the convention site. Some guys never grow out of playing "army". They live for the days when they can dress like this and fire big, noisy weapons into crowds. It is further evidence of the huge industry that has developed out of policing and incarcerating people. They get these "toys" and they want excuse to play with them.

Police presence at Democrat Convention.

by Ken Little. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2000 at 8:55 AM
KEN&littlek10.freeserve,co.uk

Heavy armed police presence has become the norm for all major Party conferences in Britain. If you believed that the British police dont carry guns just pop along to the Labour or Tory gatherings. Machine gun toting cops who have a lot of experience in handling and using their weopons. The excuse ofcourse is to protect our leaders from terrorists. We all know that any determined bomb or assassin attempt will circumnavigate any amount of security. Witness the IRA bombing of the Tory Party conference in 1984. This was done when there was Tanks at Heathrow Airport to deter terrorist attack. The British police like the American are gathered in large hostile numbers to attack and harass opposition. The so called free press gives no voice to people who believe that Democrats or Labourites represent no one but their own fat interests.Anybody who says different is painted an enemy of freedom and thus not entitled to the fruits of freedom ie the right to have your say without having your head kicked in by the cops. Keep up the good work in the USA. Gore, Bush, Blair and the rest of the rats be they American or British need a bloody good democratic kick up their arses.

I'm afraid I must agree with Agent Green.

It is unfortunate that the word "democratic"

and the word "fascistic" have been moving

in together in thesauruses all over the place.

And further, it's one of the things I'm least

proud to call "bipartisan!"

The Sociological Imagination

by Marold Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000 at 2:50 AM
sylys@w-link.net

". . . We might well imagine a "pure type" of society, a perfectly disciplined social structure,

in which the dominated people, for a variety of reasons, cannot quit their prescribed roles,

but nevertheless share none of the dominator's values, and thus in no way believe in the

legitimacy of the order. It would be like a ship manned by galley slaves, in which the

disciplined movement of the oars reduces the rowers to cogs in a machine, and the violence

of the whipmaster is only rarely needed. The galley slaves need not even be aware of the

ship's direction, although any turn of the bow evokes the wrath of the master, the only

man aboard who is able to see ahead. But perhaps I begin to describe rather than to

imagine. . ."

Cowards

ben709@hotmail.com

I read with disgust the cowardly comments made by those who have posted here. How about listening to a cop's comments? Do you have the guts to read with an open mind? Having been spat at, clubbed, stabbed and shot at by "peaceful demonstrators," I feel I have a right to voice my opinion here. The police are doing their job, which is preventing breaches of the peace. This is something that none of you have the courage or dedication to do. Don't bother giving me your well-rehearsed sociological rhetoric about "anarchy" and "the System". If the shit hits the fan you will be the first to dial 911. If your partner is raped who will attend? if your house is robbed who will attend? If someone slaps your ignorant face who will attend? The police will. How dare you tar every cop in this country with the same brush, what an absolute disgrace. There are hundreds of thousands of officers working right now on the streets of this nation who are intelligent and eager and who are dedicated to serving the public. It is assholes and cowards like you who make our jobs miserable, who dare to complain because we don protective equipment to protect themselves from law breakers. I challenge you to stand next to me at one of these "demonstrations". And before you label me a fascist ignorant bully-boy, know this, I have degrees in Psychology and Criminology and a Masters of Law. And I am proud to be a cop!

As a veteran who faught for the ideal of freedom and lost many of my friends in the name of freedom. I find it sad that our country has and is becomeing a police state. For ever law passed by a state or federal gov. another freedom is lost and with each freedom lost we become a little less human and more like caged anamal's.

I agree with Spud, you dipshits are a disgrace. Fortunatly, 90% of you will finish puberty and realise what idiots you were.

The remaining 10% will become the sad collection of life long-losers, disredited ideologes, and bitter failures that comprise the rabble of the 'far left'.
