We had a right to be there. The ACLU won for the protesters the right to be seen and heard, not blocks away. We have the right to speak to the delegates. I would not copulate to the police that right without a fight. I am proud to say I stayed in the protest zone after the police declared it an unlawful assembly on the slimmest of pretexts. If someone in the crowd assaulted a policeman, then he should be arrested. Instead, what we had was the police retaliating with assault on the protesters in mass. "The degree to witch you resist is the degree to witch you are free." This man has my respect because he has the courage to assert his rights rather than waiting for someone to give them to him.
