![Slutwalk 2011 [pt 5]](https://la.indymedia.org/uploads/2011/06/march2__800x487_.jpgthumb.jpg) The SlutWalk protest marches began on April 3, 2011 in Toronto, Canada and have since become an international movement sparking rallies across the world.[1]The SlutWalk rallies protest the belief that female rape victims are "asking for it".[2] The original march walked from Queen's Park to the Toronto Police Headquarters located on College Street.[3] All sexes, races, and sexual orientations were represented, and the attire of the marchers ranged from conservative to revealing to zany. The protesters marched in response to remarks made by a Toronto Police officer that "women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized", and also in response to comments made by a Manitoba judge when giving a convicted rapist a sentence of house arrest. Bill Rosendahl has brought a special squad of 21 LAPD officers into Venice, CA . Now that most of the Homeless Living in their cars and moterhomes have lost their vehicles... They now are forced to sleep on the sidewalk (not illegal)
Having neutralized their targets, they are now targeting other groups of people to harass by intimidation and by impounding vehicles, Family Pets, or giving unwarranted parking tickets.
I suspect these include Farmers, Raw foodists, Artists, Musicians, or any alternative or creative types. (image/jpeg + 5 comments)

San Diego Hosts Three May Day Rallies
Mark Gabrish Conlan/Zenger's Newsmagazine
2011-05-09 1:39 AM
San Diego hosted no fewer than three rallies on Sunday, May 1 — one between the Centro Cultural de la Raza and World Beat Center in Balboa Park, followed by a march to the Federal Building downtown where the second rally was held, and a third at the San Diego Community Concourse that united the participants with another set of marchers, who had assembled earlier in the morning in Chicano Park, also for a walk downtown. The rally speakers focused on a wide variety of progressive issues — workers’ rights, education cutbacks, health care, immigrants’ rights, war and peace, Queer liberation — and attempted to draw connections between them and psych the participants for the long struggle ahead to preserve and extend those rights in the face of a relentless assault on them by the radical Right. AKelly
2011-05-02 3:03 PM The leadership of UAW Local 2865 - the UC graduate student union - has hijacked the election to retain incumbent power. Halfway through the ballot count, it appeared possible that a slate of reformers, Academic Workers for a Democratic Union, would win the election.
<br><br>
Isn't it strange how whenever there are large workers' mobilizations, the forces of repression happen to schedule an innumerable quantity of traffic control stations? Let's not let them paralyze us with their intimidatory tactics. It is of utmost importance that we arm ourselves with information: First of our rights as humans and as residents of this country, secondly of where the checkpoints are scheduled to take place, and most importantly, of our own power as an organized community to control our destiny! Everyone to the streets! (image/jpeg + 5 comments)
