We, members of the Filipino community and different Filipino-American groups here in the US, extend our congratulations to the hundreds of Filipino teachers for their victorious struggle against their deceitful recruitment agency Universal Placement Inc. We are happy that after four years of brave and sustained efforts on different fronts and winning different battles along the way, the case has reached the federal court which found these defendants liable for engaging in fraudulent practices. LADWP pulls leases under dry lake air monitors
Benett Kessler
2012-12-12 9:13 PM They’re still doing it. The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has, for decades, used its land ownership to manipulate life in the Owens Valley. The latest DWP maneuver cancels leases for land under three of the Air Pollution Control District’s Owens Dry Lake air monitors. LADWP doesn’t like what the air monitors are showing.

The holidays are coming, and as a result, we'll be seeing more patrols and checkpoints. We would also like to warn that the presence of immigration agents tends to increase during the month of December in light of the increase in travel/ We urge utmost caution on the roadways and even on public transportation systems such as the Greyhound. Know and exercise your rights and remain alert at all times, but don't forget to enjoy this season as much as possible! (image/jpeg)

Ross Plesset

In her first solo exhibit, photographer (and contributor to LA IndyMedia) Isabel Avila explores the dual identities of Native American and Mexican American cultures, emphasizing people active in their communities. Avila's photographs, taken over the last few years, are complimented by video discussions, many featuring her photo subjects but also additional people, including Gloria Arellanes, one of the early Brown Berets and member of the Tongva community. (Excerpts of these dialogs can be found further down in this article.) The free exhibit is currently at the Vincent Price Museum through December 8. It will then then relocate to Rancho Cucamonga's Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art and run from January 22 – March 16, 2013. (Location details within the article.) (image/jpeg)

ALL SET FOR NOVEMBER 11 12th JFAV PROTEST MARCH/RALLY IN HOLLYWOOD
Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV)
2012-11-10 11:57 PM
They Served, they Deserved Benefits.”
The Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) and its allied organizations announced that they are all set for the biggest demonstration, the 12th JFAV Protest March/Rally in the entertainment capital of the world-Hollywood on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at 12;00 noo at Holywood and Vine intersection.
For the first time, the JFAV march and rally in Hollywood and not in front of the Federal building in Downtown LA. as it usually does since 1997. Arturo Garcia, JFAV National coordinator explained the rationale for the change in venue :
“ The Federal Building in downtown LA is usually closed for the November 11 holiday so all the rallies there are symbolical. Now we will bring it to the eyes entire world an not an empty edifice.”
After the post-election victory of re-elected President, the JFAV wrote an appeal and demand letter asking the president to issue an executive order for full recognition of 43,000 Filipino World War II Veterans and their survivors who for more than 66 years were still unrecognized American veterans.
Post Obama Election Protest Rally
The JFAV stopped the lobby on the US Congress for HR 210 after the GOP controlled House of Representatives refused JFAV a hearing on HR 210 at the House Veterans Affairs Committee last August 2012 even with 96 co-sponsors for the bill. (image/jpeg)

Joseph Pitruzzelli & Tyler Wilson, AKA Wilson Pitruzzelli Investments, LLC, AKA, owners of Wurstkuche Restaurant Lose Their Frivolous Defamation Law Suit filed against Los Angeles Arts District Artist, David Goldner

Long time Arts District Artist David Goldner was the artist next door when Wurstkuche restaurant "invaded" the LA Arts District in 2009 and it's owners Joseph Pitruzzelli & Tyler Wilson disruptively began to illegally use an AIR, a legal Artist in Residence loft, as an illegal 24 hour commercial nightmare of a warehouse for their new restaurant next door, Wurstkuche. As their neighbor, David was apparently subjected to constant torturous 24 hour noise, smoke and non stop 24 hour traffic by Wurstkuche suppliers, employees and the owners themselves who dragged banging beer kegs in and out all day and all night long in what was a creative live / work space for decades in the heart of the Los Angeles Arts District.
