A week or so after The ICE OUT Everywhere March in Los Angeles I was passing by the Municipal Detention Center on Alameda St in DTLA .

These photographs are of a family who had hung a large homemade Birthday Card on the fence facing the jail.

They were waving up at a narrow slat serving as a window in the facility.

Inside, in one man was their uncle, husband, father and brother who behind the glass was waving an object with a mirror finish signaling that he saw them.

The rain had let up for a few minutes when I saw this.

They were a very nice family. One fellow told me that Ice doesn't allow visitations so this is what they could do.

I shot so they would not be victimized again.
